Callista blinked, realizing what she just said. "I uh...don't know where that came from..." The color drained from her face as the reality of what she'd just said hit her. Her heart started to pound and she wanted to jump away from Valzar, but she wanted to lose herelf in his arms too. She optd to snuggle in closer to him and push the reality from her mind.

"Callista?" Valzar frowned again, this time in concern. "Is something wrong?" He'd touched her mind briefly and found it a chaotic whirl.

Callista forced herself to smile and act normal. "Everything's fine, Valzar. Why wouldn't it be?" Her heart was still pounding out of control and she buried her face in his chest, wanting to scream, but not letting herself.

Callista shook her head. "I am distressed," She whispered quietly. "Valzar...stay with me, don't let me have to figure this out on my own, please..."

Valzar frowned and slowly pushed himself to sit up, still holding Callista in his lap, "What is it?"

"Yes, you're right...but there are so many other factors...like my being able to touch you. I think about touching any other males, like the boys in my herd, and I want to throw up...but you don't like touching me, so it could just be normal...and I did do a lot of hugging when I was little and wasn't repulsed...but then I think about another woman touching you, and it makes me want to hurt them...I'm so confused, Valzar."

"I don't exactly not like touching you..." he said quietly not wanting to admit that he might have even enjoyed the experience, once he understood what she was doing. "And no one ever hugs me except you and my sister?" he offered hesitantly not really sure where he was going with this...

Callista's heart jumped at his admission. "But if my sister hugged you, I would want to rip her off of you. The same with your sister. The thought of you with another woman's smell on you makes me upset. I should be able to tolerate family. And our minds merge so easily...we had a link before I gave you blood...you heard me in your head. That shouldn't have happened either." She was shaking with denial at the possibility.

Valzar pulled her a little closer, instinctively attempting to comfort her...an instinct he didn't know he had. "But Callista," he said quietly ignoring that thought. "You and I are friends, right? And neither of us have many...well, if any, other friends aside from each other outside of our families. Maybe this is normal?"

Callista laid her head on his chest, grateful that he was still there. She nodded. "You're right. You always make so much sense. This is probably just normal. I'm sure it's normal."
