((Okay, eight pages while I was gone. Jeez. At least they were the best eight pages ever. Eva is an awesome RPer and her character rivals Pix's in complexity, I'm glad she applied. All these subplots going on are great also. Everyone's done a commendable job. ^_^

About an hour had passed since Ulysses had fallen asleep. Tanner and Kai had chatted and waited for a while, making sure they knew what to do once they woke the old man. The plan was set, most had returned to the parlor... time for action.
But not quite yet. Leszya had walked in, apparently having just bathed. Tanner was stricken by her simple beauty, her glowing tan was something he instantly found very attractive. He would have to keep her in mind. Not quite the sexual deviant that Pix was, he resisted any urges to do anything for the moment.
Tanner nodded at Lucas, and Lucas nodded at Kai.
Tanner unfolded his arms and walked briskly to the old man tied to the chair, sleeping away. The heels of his boots clicked loudly on the wooden floor, his pace was quite sinister for some reason.
"Let's go guys, I can't wait any longer," Tanner said rather coldly. Suddenly his actions conflicted with his demeanor, as he softly shook the old man, trying to wake him.
This went on for a good minute, until everyone was raising eyebrows.
Lucas coughed after several seconds of awkwardness. "Wait... something's not right." He walked up to Ulysses as he said "I don't think this ol' boy is breathing." Lucas felt his pulse. He looked sadly down at the floor.
Tanner kicked a chair, overturning it in anger. "******** more needed to be said, it was quite obvious that man was important, containing the knowledge needed to defeat the fishmen. He had taken it to his grave.
Kai looked rather down, staring at the fire, back turned to the two and the dead geezer. Just their luck the scholar was so old he died of old age before they could get to him.
A series of knocks were heard at the door. Tanner looked around, no one felt like answering it.
He walked to the door, and opened it with a sulk.
A rather flamboyant young man was smiling at the door. He wore a rather expensive looking outfit with frills and tassels, colored deep crimson and off-white. His silky black hair was set in a ponytail and his thin, waxed mustache ran along his lips and down his mouth to the end of his chin. A longsword was buckled around his right hip. Tanner immediately recognized the attire of the man and was also instantly annoyed. This was a nobleman from Yufette, one of the most flashy, exclusive districts in the capitol. He knew this man personally, one Sarte. Sarte was, to be blunt, a d**k. A corrupt bureaucrat by day, a gambling addict by night.
"Grandfath- Wait! You're not my grandfather!? Tanner? What?" Sarte pushed Tanner aside and ran around the temple searching for Ulysses.
Sarte stumbled into the parlor.
Oh s**t, this doesn't look good, Tanner thought.
"What is going on? Grandpa, wake up!" He shook Ulysses hard.
Sarte drew his sword and pointed it at Tanner. "You son of a b***h, you're going to pay! I don't know what the hell is going on, but, you're going to pay!" Sarte said in a rather pathetic tone. Sarte ran at Tanner, fire in his eyes.
Lucas grinned, this was going to be good.
Tanner only laughed, he had been waiting to kick Sarte's a** for a long time. Lucas threw Tanner his broadsword.
Catching the sword, he threw off the sheath and swept Sarte off his feet with a sweeping kick. Sarte rolled out of the way and got swiftly to his feet, swiping his sword at Tanner. The slash was blocked so quickly that Sarte was thrown off balance as Tanner aimed to take a good chunk out of Sarte's shoulder, disabling him for the moment.
Sarte fell to the floor, blood spurting out of his shoulder. Tanner had definitely severed a large blood vessel. Screaming in pain, Sarte writhed around as his longsword clanged to the floor.
Tanner eyed Sarte coldly. "Shut up, you dirty worm. I don't care to explain to you why your grandfather is in this situation, but I assure you, we didn't kill him." He put the tip of his sword to Sarte's throat.
Kai's mind was racing. There was an obvious question...
If his grandfather is a holy man, then how is he a nobleman? You can't rise in rank that fast in this land, I'm sure. Ah... maybe this is his grandfather-in-law?
Kai's mind wandered to the swordfight that had transpired moments ago. It was the most expert form of swordmanship Kai had ever seen. Tanner was truly a blademaster.
Sarte winced. "Just let me go, don't kill me!"
Tanner laughed coldly. "As much as I want to kill you, I need you around for the moment. Show me where your grandfather's laboratory is. I've searched this house and I can't find it. Don't ask me why I'm looking for it, I'm not going to tell you right now."
((Whew, long post. Hopefully you all liked it. I'll leave it at that for a little while.))

"Oh I would dearly love to do so, but I believe someone is screaming. Loudly." He smiled at her then broke the embrace heading back to the main room wondering what he missed.
Upon reaching the room he noticed a few things, some obvious, some that only a trained assassin like Pix would notice. The obvious would of course be the silly man that was bleeding. Alot. Not to mention Tanner standing over him with a bloody sword.
The not so obvious would be Kai's mixed expression of awe at Tanner and lust at the new chick who, as far as Pix was concerned, had done nothing to make her name worth remembering. Oh, and the corpse.

This just won't do.
He walked up to the still bristling Tanner and backhanded him across the face.
"What are you a fool?! You call yourself a master-swordsman? This man is going to DIE. And where will we be left with two corpses?" Pix sneered. "You nobles are all the same, fancy actions without thinking of the consequences, did you ever stop to consider that your hilt could have taken him out just as easily?" He left him there to consider it as he approached the bleeding man.

"You're no better than he, ******** b*****d, getting yourself wounded like this... Woman! Gregor! One of you get his wound bandaged before he bleeds out." He had already begun to stem the blood flow by putting pressure unto the deep cut.

((Note that it was not Kai that was struck by Eva, but Tanner. Pix, your post said otherwise, I just wanted to make sure you know so there's no confusion later. XD))
Tanner scowled at Pix. "Who are you to tell me what to do? I can make my own decisions!" Tanner knew he just needed to show Sarte he meant business.
Tanner approached Pix. "You seem to forget my origins, I am not like this man!" Tanner yelled. "I am not a whimpering son of a b***h noble like this man!" Tanner growled.
Kai watched in awe. This was a side of Tanner that he had not seen.
Lucas had seen this side. But only on the battlefield. This was the real Tanner.

((Ohh, alright.))
The blood was spurting rather unpleasantly and his hands had gone slippery with it. He was relieved to hand it over to Andrea, but still he knelt by the man, "Oh? I'm sorry, I thought that yelling hysterically about your position and origins were what defined the 'whimpering son of a b***h noble', I must have been mistaken." The spite was obvious in his voice and he took a moment to calm himself as he made sure the bleeding was stemmed. Once sure he stood up to face Tanner.
"Now you WILL listen to me, not because I have noble blood, not because of any superficial reasons. But because I know what I'm talking about. You let your emotions get the better of you and you attempted to strike a mortal wound on someone whom was not only less skilled than you, but also held important information. You have no excuse, not your 'origins' not you 'blood'.
Nothing."

He acts just like a sullen child who refuses to admit he's the one who broke his mommy's favorite vase.
Pix thought to himself as he turned to Kai, "Go get some water and a cushion for him, also some rope. I don't want another noble going apeshit."

Kai nodded quietly and returned with the supplies, setting them down next to Sarte.
Tanner stormed off into the library to clear his head. Lucas followed soon after to calm him down.
