Maritess nearly lost her steam when she saw just how much more she'd have to climb. She sucked it up and proceeded to climb.

As much as Maritess hated to admit it, the silence was starting to get on her nerves. And now having lost the ability to talk... actually it didn't feel that big of a deal to her. Okay so still being able to hear the Voice? Yeah that wasn't as good.
She waved her hands dismissively, even if that were true, Maritess was certain she'd derive some form of satisfaction from choking the Voice until it couldn't talk anymore. So what if she ceased to be? At least it would be of her own volition. And to emphasize it, she stuck her tongue out.

Maybe it was just her nerves, maybe it was fatigue. Maritess was slowing down her pace and things were starting to feel like a snail's crawl. But she was going to get up there. She wasn't going to deny herself that satisfaction.

After taking two steps, Maritess decided she was going to take a rest. No ******** about the other people passing her by or possibly stumbling over her. Hey she couldn't talk or hear but she sure as hell still had hands that had no trouble balling into fists.

After that brief breather, Maritess felt energized enough to continue climbing. Okay maybe energized wasn't the correct description, more like she wanted out of this place ASAP.

Maritess' second wind had her zooming up the stairs and then she hit a wall. Well, a proverbial wall when the Voice jarred her out of sync. She folded her arms across her chest, narrowed her eyes as if to mull over a decision. It was tempting, really really tempting.
But though she could not speak, and no sound would leave her lips, she could still mouth the words: I wanna shove my fist down your throat and rip your Voice out.

At the question, Maritess scrunched up her face, drew in a breath, and let out a futile scream. Not so much as a peep emerged. But she felt better for it. She glanced all around her, still mouthing The satisfaction that something fake was real enough to kick your a**.

The silence was absolutely deafening.
He almost wanted to stamp his foot down on each step he took up, but it was shaky enough for him to decide that it wasn't a wise thought.

It was almost a bit of a relief for Erebus to hear the Voice.
Because at least he could hear something.

As she continued her climb, Maritess couldn't help but wonder... would she really be disappointed with what she found? But if she already knew what she'd find up there, why would she be disappointed?

Climbing stairs was really boring, especially when you can't see anyone or hear anything. AJ made a long yawn between his bouncing. Finally he saw someone, a Cerberus boy. He jumped a bit faster and patted oh his shoulder, giving the boy a "you can do it" gesture and a wink. It was so nice to see someone here. When they hit the 150th step, AJ heard the Voice again. Maybe because of the ignorance, the noise was louder but becoming dissonant, like several people speaking the same thing simultaneously. Also, the strange urge to climb up the tower was somehow weakened. To what the Voice said, AJ just though of one thing: Bullshit. Yep yep, you created me. However, that doesn't mean that I have to follow what you want. Do you know what things creates a life's existence? It was memories, memories of own and others' memories of you. So as long as there was one remember me, you can't cease my existence. Even if all that awaited her was disappointment, the least Maritess could get was screwing over the Voice. Somehow, that thought brought a smile to her lips and had her race up the remaining steps.
