 @NashiJem laughed again and grinned at Shina. "That's what I like to hear! You're a girl after my own heart!"
She continued as they came up on the run-down gym. "I figure it's probably just kids. Maybe at most ghost types have moved in, ya'know how they get about abandoned places and such."

Shina dismounted, approaching the doors. "Well, it will be fun to investigate either way, and a ghost type wouldn't go amiss. Well, another ghost type. I just caught a Ghastly back in the Howling Forest," Shina told Jem as she rattled the doorhandle. The handle moved, but the door didn't open. Shina pushed, but the door didn't move. "Seems stuck."~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ @Khol: Joey look mistrustfully at the lady, a childish scowl on his face. "No, Growlithe are cuddly. Fire hurts!" he told the strange lady.

The rattle of the door handle nearly made Magnolia jump out of her skin. For some reason or another, the abandoned gym had attracted more curiosity. Altais seemed wide awake now upon feeling her body flinch. Without warning from her, he dive-bombed into her messenger bag; the ends of his streamer-like appendages hanging out the side of it. As the fourteen year old tucked them with him, she turned to Valerie. "Is that . . . someone you know?" she asked, hoping for her to say yes. Of course, the likelihood of that seemed slim, but it was a thought.

The door handle startled Valarie and she almost panicked, but Altais managed to find a hiding spot and she relaxed again. She looked at Magnolia, "I don't know anyone in Zatao. Well, except for you." The thought that the person at the entrance could possibly be the gym leader, she pick up the core of the magost berry Altais discarded on the gm floor and held on to it until she found a trash barrel. For now, she just stuffed it into her pocket. After that, she collected her pencil from the floor too. Nervously, Valarie approached the door and opened it. "Er, hello?" she greeted.

Kohl looked at her arcanine, who was lounging a few feet away. He yawned slowly, showing off a huge set of sharp teeth. Flatly, with a thin smile as she tried to keep her expression just as disinterested and false as the pokemon's, "Yeaah, growlithe ain't cuddly."

Shina let go as the door handle moved from the other side. "Oh, Valerie! Hi there! Are you investigating the gym too? Local rumor says that there are lights and sounds coming from this building at strange times, even though it is abandoned," Shina told the artist that had joined the caravan a while ago. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ @Khol: Joey pointed behind the lady. "Your fire is spreading."

Valarie stared at the trainer and immediately recognized her as the leader of the caravan. She then frowned, "Who are you and how do you know my name?" she asked albeit she extremely creeped out by this encounter. She was half-tempted to just close the door and hide in the back of the gym.

Magnolia tilted her head to the woman who addressed Valerie. Though she said Magnolia was the only "friend" she had made in the entirety of Zatao, she seemed well-acquainted with this ebony haired woman. It piqued her interest highly; maybe Valerie did not consider herself as close to this woman as the other did to her? The teen listened intently to Shina, wondering if the rumors of haunting were true. Since their time there, nothing peculiar occurred. While she didn't want to dismiss the gossip, it didn't hold much merit to the trainer.

Shina blinked, confused. "I'm Shina Kiremono, leader of the Caravan. I try to know who all is with the group, in case someone gets lost. Valarie continued to stare, "Well, you must have lost a Valarie because I'm obviously not her!" she paused, "Excuse me for a moment..." she closed the door and looked at Magnolia with a panicked countenance on her face, "Someone is pretending to be me." she said, her calm tone betraying the look on her face. The watcher took a deep breath and opened the door again, looking like nothing ever happened, "So, um, this Valarie, how do you spell her name?"
The watcher was aware that her name could be spelled in two ways: V-a-l-a-r-i-e, or V-a-l-e-r-i-e.

Magnolia blanched a lighter shade of white from Valerie's remark. That was absolutely terrifying! She didn't mutter a word, but nodded her head in affirmation towards the other trainer's reasoning. Her mind set off a plethora of red alarms and immediately reminded her of Altais's back story with a crime syndicate.

She jumped back a step as a pallet- she thought it used to be a pallet? -cracked scattered splinters of smouldering wood. Crap. This was not going to end well. She hadn't wanted to skip town so soon, the pokemart hadn't even banned her yet!
Taka streeeeaaaaatched. Totally helpless, humans. What would she do without him? He turned his back on the fire with a smirk. So helpless. His black nails plowed through the ground, throwing back chunks and sprays of soil and surface, breaking against the frail, fire touched structure like a mighty, soothing wave. It was grace. It was beauty. It was like being hit with a ton of bricks and a half ton of sand.
Kohl uncovered her head cautiously, watched as the wall collapsed. "Well, the fire's out."
Taka groomed a paw smugly.
