It was strange still having voices filtered in through Gion but he caught the names nonetheless and his interest peaked to the point of excitement. How could he not know those names?
That's the name of my daughter, and that's Long's son!
If it was possible the spirit would have been bouncing around in the sword if metaphysics allowed it.

Gion blinked. Your daughter? he asked Daemon incredulously as he signed the man's reply to Ulani. But ... you've been here for centuries! And she's young! I mean, when I knew her, she was barely older than Elnara!
Then, to Ulani, he signed, I suppose they're the ones that Mother went back with?

Ulani smiled and nodded. "Apparently when Elnara told them about the sword you had found, Kara recognized it as her mother's sword ... and Elnara made the connection to Daemon after that, or something. Anyways ... they've adopted Elnara as well, now ..."
She paused, blinked. "I guess that makes her ... Daemon's granddaughter." She laughed.

I have a granddaughter...
Despite the fact the 'granddaughter' was actually Gion's sister, it made him starryeyed anyhow. He had a grandchild... how could he not be happy. He answered absently to Gion's question.
Well she's an angel by birth, some angel races live a long time, even as long as elves. I never asked Luna which angel type she was.

Gion blinked, still a bit shocked.
Daemon, he thought slowly. I think you have more than just a granddaughter ... um ... remember Triton, who we traveled with? And Yue and Yukito that I told you about, that were staying at the castle when I first found you? They're Kara's as well ... I think she said something about having a dozen or more kids ... and even some grandkids of her own. I know Triton had a son ...
He was still rather lost, but now he had one question of his own. Daemon ... if my sister is your granddaughter ... what does that make me to you?

Ulani laughed softly and looked at Ulrich, who was still rubbing the back of his head.
"I think I shocked both of them," she giggled, then grinned at him. "And no, I'm not getting rid of that headache for you, so don't even ask. You deserve it."
She grinned again and headed into the kitchen, leaving him with Gion and Daemon.

Now that sent Daemon's mind through a loop, Triton was his grandson? He had more grandchildren. over a dozen? Was that even phyically possible, of course there was adoption and since he and Yume adopted there was always that.
I do? Already? Well then again I have been gone a long time so it's quie possible to have great grandchildren....
He was still trying to work it all out in his head.

Gion took a seat right where he was, sitting on the floor and propping himself against the wall.
Daemon, he thought, slow down ...
He closed his eyes and conjured up a dream space for him and Daemon, a trick he'd learned over the years to be able to talk with Daemon literally face to face, and put one hand on the man's shoulder to calm him.
This ... is weird, he thought, speaking aloud in the dream world. He wasn't referring to the dream world itself, but to the situation in which they had suddenly found themselves.
Perhaps to call it a dream world would be misleading, since they were both wide awake and fully conscious. But what else would they call it?

Within the dreamspace that had become a place where the two could talk one on one more or less in a physical manner. Daemon sighed running his hand through his hair. It was just so much to take in.
"Right...." Daemon nodded, "It's just... how many of them are between Kara and Donovan? And how many are adopted? And..."
He hadn't thought of everything when he left, only now did it occur to him the kind of political clan trouble that could happen. Since Daemon didn't know that Donovan was one of those people who would rather bypass all of that.

"As far as I know," Gion replied, his tone thoughtful, "all of them are adopted ... at least, that was what Triton told me ... I think. It's been a while, after all, and a lot has happened since then."
He laughed, but it was a mirthless laugh. "Besides, my sister is one of them. How weird do you think that is for me? I mean, at least it's logical that your family has grown up and started their own family. It's the biggest coincidence I've ever heard of that my sister is now your granddaughter."
He scratched at his rather long hair - he hadn't gotten it cut a single time since he'd begun his wanderings, and his dream self was the exact image of his real self.

Daemon smiled up at Gion, "It is weird I do admit, and you're right that does pose the question of what does that make you in relations to me, but in a way I wouldn't have it any other way."
He looked down for a moment holding out his hand to an unseen figure. His mind conurging an image from long ago. A little hand grabbed his, made out of wisps of dreams of a little girl with brown hair and blue-green eyes.
"In Gaia, there is always a chance you can make a name for yourself no matter your class, race or gender. I think that's the kind of world your sister would like, and you would too. Besides," he looked up at Gion with a small smile, "I was right, I saw the red thread on her and I had hoped she would find that person at the end. So... I really should," he laughed at himself, "Stop panicking."

Gion nodded thoughtfully. "I guess," he agreed, "I should, too ... but it's just been so long, and the way she went was so bad ..."
He paused, and a slow grin crept over his face. "I think we should see if we can't visit there as well," he suggested to Daemon mischievously. "I want to see it, you want to get home, and we both want to find out what happened to our families ... what do you think? Try to be here when Mother comes home, see if we can't go there when she comes here?"

"Now that would be an adventure for the books wouldn't it," Daemon gave his own mischevious grin, "You've travelled nearly everywhere here, having new things to write about would be good wouldn't it?"
It would be another adventure, besides who knew how much Gaia had changed while he was gone?

"It would be," Gion grinned, nodding; then he added, "And maybe we would be able to find someone who can help us get you out of that sword."
But as he said it, his dream face grew sad. As happy as he would be for his friend, he would miss him very much if they had to go their separate ways.

Daemon nodded putting a reassuring hand on Gion's shoulder, "That would be nice, and with you knowing about Gaia, you can visit every once in a while."
Who knew, maybe there were things that Gion could take back from Gaia as well as vise versa.
