JOUSTIN' Aurian listened to the day's instructions, stuck somewhere between anticipation and dread. On one hand, the idea of fighting from the back of an animal was exciting. On the other, Aurian had spent so long finding and taming her dragon that she hadn't had time to practice riding him. This could wind up being a very short and embarrassing class if her mount decided not to cooperate. Or worse, to throw her and run back off into the forest. She watched several other students get started. "It doesn't seem so bad," she offered to her dragon. "Shall we try?" Her mount was a smallish kind of dragon - larger than the wolves that some had, but not a huge beast. He was mottled grey for the most part, with a red underbelly and black spikes along his spine. His stubby red wings weren't capable of flight, but Aurian thought them very cute. The instructors had provided them with a saddle, and Aurian picked one that sported red-and-black feathers. She thought they made a nice colour combination together. The dragon crouched and Aurian swung her leg over his back, settling into the saddle that their instructors had provided. It was interesting, to say the least, trying to get used to the movement of the dragon underneath her. "Alright, forward!" she told the dragon. It didn't move. Aurian looked down at it. She tried nudging its sides with her heels. A flick of the reins. Nothing was making this dragon move. Aurian heaved a sigh. And here she was with a fantastic grip on her lance. Just... no closer to the goal.
