Valarie thought she was going to have a panic attack when Alteis' tag began to flicker, but she relaxed again when Magnolia stopped him. The watcher accepted her camera and quickly pocketed; she planned to never take it out while in the presence of this Jirachi. "I'm sure he's a good pokemon." she smiled and turned to Altais, "You're just having a rough day, huh?" The watcher then suddenly snapped her fingers together, "If you want, you can help yourself to the berries in my bag," she pointed at the far back of the gym, "I can always forage for more later." Valarie suddenly snapped her fingers again, "Speaking of nothing, I haven't introduced myself," she held out a hand, "I'm Valarie Powers, nice to meet you two-- er-- three." she quickly fixed when she remembered Rho was still around. The watcher then too a deep breath, realizing her throat was dry from speaking too fast.

Altais did not return her smile. The grump was doing what he did best: Being a grumpy-pants. However, he did take her up on her offer, and dismissed himself from Magnolia and Valerie to make his way over to the berry pouch. Magnolia nodded her head. While Valerie's speech was a tad bit hard to keep up with, the teen comprehended what she could. Unlike the other, she spoke steadily. It was the must of a lady. "He just needs time to calm down. Oh, it's quite a pleasure, Valerie. I'm Magnolia. Magnolia Claus. The grump is Altais." She clasped her opposite hand with Valerie's and shook it up and down. Looking down beside her feet, she nudged her chin in the direction of her Glameow who was curled up sleeping since he wasn't being acknowledged. "That's Rho."

"Magnolia like the flower? That's a nice name" Valarie commented and let go of Magnolia's hand. The watcher looked down at the glameow, "It's amazing how he just.... slept through that." she laughed quietly. The watcher then remembered something and looked over to Altais, "If you don't like spicy berries, try to avoid the spelon berries!" she warned. The watcher herself disliked anything spicy. She only carried around those kinds of berries for not-so-very-harmful pranks she felt like pulling on travelers. They're not completely harmless because the traveler's mouth would be burning, but not very harmful because no one dies or get sent to the Pokecenter because they ate something to spicy... Right? Valarie wasn't sure, she would always make a run for it after.

((GL with that timeline thing, urgh. xD I'm just... Atlas. Okay, I'll stick with Atlas. Except now I forgot what stage he's at hahaha stabs myself.))
Genesis rolled her eyes at Doyle's antics. Though she needed some practice herself, she didn't want to risk getting caught with the entire traveling group around. And besides, she'd been paid recently and could afford what she needed.
"Doesn't your grandma live here? Let's go pay her a visit," she said as she paid for her purchases, giving them both an excuse to extract themselves from the group, just in case anyone would be curious.

The fourteen year old nodded. "Yes, like the flower." Her hand went limp as it dropped to her side. However, her left hand reached up and cupped her mouth, smothering a small chuckle. "Yes, it's sort of a given. He's a cat Pokemon, after all," she commented. Rho completely disregarded them. Right now, as he dallied in Dreamland, he was munching on Magikarps by the dozen. Altais took heed of Valerie's warning. He opted for a Magost Berry instead, and returned to the group with a second for Magnolia. She took it with a nod of gratitude. "Thank you," she added after looking over it for bruises. Her crunchy bite into it melded with the Jirachi's as they both snacked. "I hope it is all right i have one too. I haven't had any lunch yet." Whose fault it was was obvious.

"It's no problem at all!" Valarie replied, "Berries are really easy to find if you know where to look and if you're willing to get your hands dirty." she made another small laugh. when her laugh died down, the watcher kept a wary eye on the outside of the gym just in case other trainers wanted to challenge the missing gym leader here or were curious of what's inside of the gym. Valarie dug through her pockets again and pulled out another berry-- a small leppa berry and ate it in one bite.

Altais's attitude seem to significantly shift with his full stomach. The legendary threw the resulting core aside -- not caring if he was littering or not. He took up residence on Magnolia's shoulder and seemed to grow slightly drowsy; though he dare not show signs of his sleepiness less something dangerous approached. Realizing that Rho was not going to become conscious anytime soon, Magnolia retrieved his Pokeball from her bag's interior and withdrew him. She stuffed it back from whence it came and continued to snack on her Magost Berry. "So, Valerie, have you any Pokemon?" she asked, tilting her head. "Wouldn't being a watcher be a bit dangerous without something to repel hostile Pokemon?"

Valarie swallowed her berry, "Uh... Well, you see..." The watcher sheepishly rubbed the back of her head as she tries to put her answer together, "When I still lived in Pastoria, my parents hated pokemon... so, no. I don't have one." She also made a sheepish smile, "I always carry around pokeballs with me though, just in case I find a pokemon that I get along with really well though." She looked over to her bag, "It's helpful to have a picnic blanket and a bunch of berries when I encounter a pokemon. Drape the blanket over myself if no bushes are around, roll a berry or two out, take some pictures and when the pokemon is really distracted, run away." she shrugged, "It works well so far." Valarie drummed her fingers on the back of her neck, "Of course, there were a few close calls, but I had my handy figy, mago, iapapa, aguav, and wiki berries with me at all times." The watcher added and pulled out an oddly shaped, green berry as an example. "I make a run for it after they eat these kinds of berries; you'll never know what they can do when they're confused."

Magnolia hummed in understanding. "Mm, my parents don't like Pokemon much either . . . Well, actually, my mother doesn't. My father used to be a breeder before he wedded Ramona, and it is thanks to him I was able to grow up with Rho as a girl. He's not exciting company, but he's there when I'm lonely." Valerie's explanation to how she avoided danger struck Magnolia with a bit of awe. Her eyes widened as she realized that the watcher's duty was much more difficult without a Pokemon than she realized. The prospect of getting wounded was at a much higher risk if she needed all those berries and a blanket to conceal herself. Were some Pokemon that terrifying? To Magnolia, something more frightening than an angry Altais was deadly. "Wow . . . " Magnolia said. "That's . . . That's quite a bit you have to do to keep out of danger." " Always threading where you don't belong. You humans . . . " Altais scoffed. " You're all too selfish, too greedy . . . !"

Valarie nodded, "I know, but it's really worth it to get those pictures." Completely forgotten about what she told herself not to do earlier, she puled out her camera and looked for a photo she had taken before handing it to Magnolia, "That's a photo of an Absol that tried to kill me a few weeks after I got into Zatao. He was calm before I accidentally... snapped a branch and startled him. Though, like I said, definitely worth it for a shot like that." The watcher nodded, "I also got some decent photos of some of the Pokemon hanging around the caravan, if you want to see." (( Pokemon in the caravan that Valarie took pictures of.))

"Oh, I'd love see the pictures you've taken." Magnolia said as she took the stack of photos from Valerie. Turning the prints toward her, she flipped through the copies with slight disinterest. They were all of common Pokemon she's seen before -- especially Deerling, which was as common as air at the area she lived in Unova. However, upon turning to the penultimate photo, did Magnolia actually react. She was dumbstruck. It was a clear picture of a Raikou. Not only that, its coloration was extravagant. Where was this Pokemon? "Arceus-" She gasped. "T-T-This is a Raikou. One of the legendary beasts- One of the legendary beasts-!" Magnolia's arm suddenly darted out and clutched Valerie's forearm. "Where did you take this? Where?" She asked with urgency. "T-This is a Raikou." She repeated with some hesitance again. "It's incredible!"

"Raikou?" she looked at her camera, "Oh! I forgot!" she laughed nervously, "I saw him when the caravan was traveling through the Howling Forests. He seemed really friendly around them." The watcher tapped an index finger on her chin, "I bet he's still following them around..." she mused.

" Really?" That settled it. Magnolia was going to track down the leader of the caravan and get permission to travel with the group. If that Raikou was there, tagging along after them, maybe she'd get a chance to meet it. As of then, it was a must. She offered back the camera to Valerie. "The Howling Forest . . . " she muttered, thinning her eyes in thought. Her eyes shot back up to the other next. "It's been traveling with them a long while, then . . . What's keeping it around?"

Valarie shrugged and took her camera back. She turned the device off to save its battery, "I don't know," she started, "if I have to guess, I would say food, he really seems to like human food." The watcher smiled, "I guess it's a win-win situation? The Raikou carries their stuff while in return he gets company and food?"

"Oooh, sounds mysterious!" Shina said with a grin. "We should investigate!"~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ That was a big building over there! Maybe it was the stadium! Joey trotted through the streets, realizing as he got closer that the building was abandoned. Sniffing, he smelled smoke. Worried, he looked around. A lady seemed to have built a fire near a bunch of piled-up stuff. "Hey, hey lady? Isn't that dangerous?" he asked.
