So on the first day the mafia should pick their victim randomly, unless something gave away an important townie role on the first day?

It's kind of lame though since it makes the game so uninteresting. What're you talking about, Mik? It's perfectly fine to play in a way that ruins it for everyone else, so long as you win. While I don't agree with targeting people based on their gaming history, the town probably would have won if they hadn't been pretty much gone on the last day.
Anyway, there were two big things I want to address with this mafia for future ones. First, I want to put in an anti-metagaming rule. Maybe something like whoever was first-day killed in the last Mafia is immune to first-day attacks in the next one. I don't think that would be unfair to anyone except people who like to consistently target strong players first.
Second, ******** inactivity. I am going to start keeping a list of people who are consistently and game-alteringly inactive and if they keep the behavior up, they won't be allowed to sign up anymore. Which should also not be unfair to anyone except people who like to sign up without committing.
Feedback?

Wait, so when I wouldn't kill LPS when I was mafia and she was a townie and I kept her in for as long as was reasonably safe so that the game could have a lot more intrigue (and still managed to win)... I was doin' it wrong?? gonk

Okay, sorry. eek ;; For the inactive rule, is a player considered inactive if s/he only posts once a day or does s/he have to contribute something (e.g. a FOS/vote) to be considered active?

Not that I've ever been mafia with you guys, but I always try to keep a strong townie player (based on that game's performance) around till the end. When evenings active, having a townie on your side can swing the gamer.

Ah yeah, I love it so much!! whee I got it from Pugnacious Banana in my Draw the Avi Above You topic. 3nodding About the metagaming immunity, I don't think it would help prevent metagaming--just protect the strong players from it every other game. Maybe some people rely on metakilling because they don't know what else to do. If we just encourage everyone to pick a random player (through dice-rolling or something) maybe people will catch on to it and make it a tradition, like our first day no lynch. smile
