"I have an illumination spell that lasts about five to six hours, so I can cast that and keep watch over Riley while you look for firewood and maybe something to eat. Once you return, we'll set up the fire and I'll search for some berries. Does that sound good?"

"Sure. Wood shouldn't be that hard to find. I should be back with dinner long before your spell runs out." Van said with a confident smile before turning to walk into the dark depths of the woods.

Mikhael nodded, stil trailing Belin. "alright. lead on." he gave a slightly exaggerated forward gesture.

Mala cast the spell after Van left, illuminating the clearing with a glow barely bright enough to see the place clearly. "So Riley, want to wait until food's ready or would you like to go to sleep now? I have three sleeping bags I bought, but that's it."

Without warning, Riley asked a very bizarre question from out of nowhere. "Sis, do you like Master Van?" he asked innocently.
((Isn't he just adorable? biggrin *huggles Riley*))

{Very. XD}
Mala gave a look of surprise, shocked with silence for about three secconds before her cheeks became lightly tinted with red. "Why are you asking me that??" she asked with much embarassment. For all of the things Riley could ask, why did it have to be that??

"Excuse me." Lin said to the nearest villager. "Where can we buy food?"
The villager pointed in the direction the two were going in the first place.

"Well, he's a thief, isn't he? And you were always saying how stealing's wrong and thieves are bad guys. So why else would you hang around a thief?" Riley said, blissfully unaware of his true intelligence.

"Well, uhm, for a thief he isn't so bad of a guy - even if I do not condone his way of life..." Mala admitted, most likely unwilling to repeat what she had just said due to her pride.

"Whose life? What?" Van asked in minor confusion as he emerged from the dark woods with a pile of wood under one arm as he dragged a dead deer along behind him by the antler.

"Oh, you needn't concern yourself with this. It isn't anything much, really." Mala said casually, changing the subject before he could reply. "Alright, so...what shall we do now? I honestly haven't the foggiest idea of how to make an actual campfire."

"Then you'd better start taking notes. I refuse to be the designated chaperone any longer than I absolutely have to." Van said leaving the deer at the edge of their clearing before plopping down in the middle of the clearing and starting to arrange the firewood before getting right back up again to collect some small rocks.

Mala waited for him to begin, wondering why he needed rocks once he had one in his hand. She always thought that people only used them as weapons or for crafting. She kept observant, patiently waiting for him to continue.

Van sighed, realizing that he'd have to actually explain the workings of a campfire eventually. "They're not totally necessary, but the rocks keep the fire from spreading into a forest fire." he said as sat down and arranged most of the rocks in a ring around the wood. "And you do have to stack the wood in a bit of a certain way. Pile it too tight, and the fire will suffocate itself and go out. Too loose, and it won't even start." he said picking up a few scattered leaves to add as fuel to the fire before he held his last two remaining rocks, a pair of fairly flat stones, near the pile of wood. "You can rub a couple of sticks together for ages to heat the wood into ignition..." he struck the stones together a few times, the sparks lighting up the pile of wood into a small and cozy blaze. "...or you can just strike a pair of stones together and use the sparks."
