((...no.))
Arryl grimaced. She'd have to deal with this, for now. Heck, at this rate, she fully expected to have several birthdays before she managed to secure the sage. What a pain. Why couldn't she have ended up with some cry-y girl who would've sobbed her heart out at the mere sight of a blade? That would've been easy, even fun. Instead she had the girl who thought she had some advantage. Oh, the temptation to simply run her through ever grew. Instead, she pressed close behind Sofia, so that if she got hit by a rock, the girl would too.

"Zelda are you alright?" there was a certain distant look on the girl's, man's, person's face for a short while, and at one point, Link believed she would soon faint.

Sheik's distant eyes blinked and refocused on Link. His face was practically identical to the boy in the original Sheik's memory, but there were subtle differences; this Link was a little older, and his hair was dark blonde instead of strawberry blonde. And comparing Link to a dead man while in the branches of a burning tree helpful how? Something slid into place in Sheik's face, rendering it utterly impossible to read once more. "Yes," he said calmly, "The past bubbles up. This is more true and less convenient for me than it is for most. Shall we continue?"

The statement confused Link, but now was not the time to ask. It simply would have to be added to his ever growing list of questions to ask once it's safe. "Of course." Reaching out his left hand, Link turned the knob and pushed open the door.

Behind the door was a small chamber. Almost completely shrouded in darkness, the only light that was illuminating the chamber was coming from a torch mounted above a large wooden case. Within the case lay a bow, a quiver, and perhaps twenty arrows. The glass was shattered and lay in tiny, magically glittering fragments on the rough dirt floor.
The floor itself was a curiosity. Grass was growing from some points within, particularly near the torch and its artificial light.

Sheik forced down the urge to groan. A dead end would have been irritating even if they hadn't been on the clock; as things were, the entire tree was becoming increasingly likely to collapse each passing moment. They simply didn't have time to spare. As he was quite certain Link was acutely aware of what a fire on the lower levels meant, he refrained from pointing this out. "That's likely for you," he said smoothly, indicating the bow with a slight nod. His eyes, however, flicked across the walls and floor of the room, searching for some welcome clue to indicate a tunnel or hidden passage.

'I don't know how to shoot an arrow,' Link thought, but kept it to himself, afterall, none of his current weapons seemed to be helping. Cautiously, the Hylian approached the bow and arrows.
(Bayer take over, I don't know if it's a trap or not)

((Sorry - I've been gone a couple days.))
Moria slipped in behind Link and Sheik, looking around the darkly lit chamber. Then the door slammed shut, plunging them into blackness. The sounds of heavy bolts closing in the steel door came from behind; across the chamber, the wall split open, revealing what appeared to be a grove of redwood trees. They towered away inside the trunk of the tree. Around each of the trees was a spiral staircase that appeared to have been screwed in; there were no handrails.
In the center of the grove, one tree had been cut to make a flat surface. Standing there was Sir Hyn, a placid grin on his face.
"Ready? Don't forget, the clock is ticking!" he cried gleefully, the higher note in his voice echoing ominously throughout the chamber.
Nothing happened as Link approached; nothing happened as he took the bow, then the quiver. Then, as Link carefully checked around the box, he discovered something almost like a mouse trap, already sprung. Imbedded into the trap was a dagger, apparently thrown so as to activate the arm-crushing device. Someone was still on Link's side around here.

Sheik looked at not-Hyn's grinning face, and something behind the emotionless red eyes suggested that he wasn't adverse to turning the bigger man into mincemeat, never mind the whole sage bit and the fact that her highness was emotionally attached to the former knight. This was getting entirely too dangerous, and his job, first and foremost, was to guide and protect the Hero of Time. Hyn would likely be the first to agree with him, anyway. "I'd best not waste time, then," he said softly, sliding his knives from their sheathes once more. With that, he started forward, his stride measured and easy, but by no means slow; he was confident that if Hyn moved he would be completely capable of keeping up with him.
((Sheik's a little scary. I'm not sure I like him right now.))

((No kidding.
I'm going to start offering targets for the bow rather frequently, Takerucoh, but they'll be slightly subtle. Some more than others.
If it's altogether too ridiculous, just shoot at him. It'll do the trick, just not as well or completely. smile ))

After an hour of walking, dodging flying rocks and muttering dark comments towards Arryl, Sofia finally lead the gerudo to the highest point on Death Mountain it was possible to reach without scaling a vertical rock face. Looking up, Sofia could hardly believe that she was only half a mile away from the crator of Death Mountain.
"Well, Miss Gerudo, are you ready? This is as far as we go outside the mountain. Just through that door over there," here she indicated to her left, "is the interior of the volcano. It's gonna get hot in there, so I hope you're ready," she explained.
Sofia found herself sweating. It wasn't the heat, she could handle that; a lot of her youth had been spent in the Dodongo Cave with her Goron friends. Years of that had built up immunity to heat. No, it was that she had never been allowed this high up the mountain. She didn't know what to ecpect past that door, and she was worried.
"Hey, did you know that even the legendary Hero of Time needed a special tunic made by the Gorons to survive in there?" she asked, once agian trying to intimidate Arryl.

"Mmm, fascinating," Arryl drawled. "You realize I can turn that right back at you, right?" she asked, irritated. "We've already been through this; you go in, and I'm coming with you."
Not-Hyn was no longer armed with a sword and shield. He was now carrying a tall axe, obviously made to be used with two hands. As Sheik approached, he shook the axe vaguely, and a branch burst from the trunk of a tree, flailing wildly at him. More subtly, a second vine slid up from the tall grass, holding perfectly still, obviously waiting for Sheik to dodge the first obstacle.
((See? You already have a bow target.))

Link watched as the battle unfurled. There was not way that Sheik would be able to get close enough to the man with this new trick, if only there was a faster way to strike. 'That's it,' Link thought grasping the bow tightly in his hand. Slowly he pulled back on the string, trying his best to steady the arrow before releasing it. The arrow flew swiftly through the air and.... missed terribly.
"Wow, that was terrible," Gus commented as he floated above the boy's head.
"Give me a break, this here is my first time and it's not even like I have anything to really... aim at."
"Why are you staring at me like that?" Gus questioned as his friend began to smirk. Suddenly the thought struck him, but before the fairy even had time to protest, he had been flicked towards the man.
Once again, Link took aim at the yellow fairy, then released. This time, his aim proved tru.

"Whatever," Sofia replied, walking towards the door that lead to the inside of Death Mountain, and thus also to the Fire Temple. Things were starting to heat up for her... literally. She wasn't sure what would end up happening to her, but she knew that it couldn't be good. She had one last weapon to try.
"Hey, did you know that the Gorons believe that there is some kind of dragon or something living in the Fire Temple? It could get dangerous," she stated, anxious. It showed in her face, and in the jerky movements of her feet towards the door.
