It's not that bad. Seriously. Some people are over-critical of anime and just ruin the experience of it. Seriously, take shows for what they are, don't compare them to each other, and look on the positive things. There's plenty of positive things about Naruto.

It's prettier filler than the shitfest that DBZ and Inuyasha is, for sure, but i tired quickly of any show that uses filler, regardless of whether its anime or not. The only thing it does better than DBZ is that the stupid rehash conflicts of "Oh no! Another more powerful thing is being evil!" don't all necessarily involve an entire planet or system of planets in peril. Filler sucks. If I only looked on positive things, I'd like dogshit football games because "Oh man! The graphics are slightly better than in last year's version!" Naruto's localization also sucks apparently, since I've heard a lot of people say that the "japanese version is actually good" as was also the case with One Piece, but having seen only a few episodes of Naruto in Japanese, and none of the corresponding episodes in English, I can't be an accurate judge of that. I've also heard that the manga is supposed to be a lot better, since apparently some of the filler was produced as a need for the show to continue, despite the fact that it had consumed all the actual story material, but that is still no reason to produce such vast amounts of s**t. This is what gaiden movies are for, people. I've actually read a good bit of the manga, and it is better on a lot of counts (ex. no voices, so no annoyingness from the Japanese versions), along with the fact that they aren't... as censored. Granted, there are parts where they had to when it went over to America, but it's not like the TV version, whereas (SPOILER!) in the TV version, the person Shino battled during the Chuunin exams only had his arms blown out, whereas in the manga, they were blown completely off, gore and all (END SPOILER!).
Personally, I'm easily amused, which is why I can tolerate filler. That and I hardly catch it, and the episodes I end up watching are the good ones. Like the Chuunin exams match-ups that are worth watching (Naruto vs. Kiba = gay, Rock Lee vs Gaara = rule).
I still say Gaara sucks hardcore. He's like a bad roleplayer. A bad bad roleplayer.
EDIT NOTE: HOMG! Believe it or not, Naruto doesn't use that catch phrase as much (or even at all, from what I read) in the manga!

Yeah, Naruto actually NEVER says 'BELIEVE IT!" in the japanese version.......ever. Instead he says "what the hell?" quite a bit. This however is used in a sense that actually makes sense, and not to replace punctation in a sentence. An example from the english version of the english version of the GBA game is "Beleive it! Hey it's thick brows!" By this we can assume that 4kids beleives that the phrase "Believe it" is used to emphasize one's shock and dismay, much like the apparently now archaic exclamation mark....
Yup Jar, I'm planning on splitting a booth in the Anime Evolution artist's alley with a buddy of mine who makes cosplay props. I'm going to be selling things like bookmarks, postcars, posters, miniposters doing quick comissions. All the usual trype. I need money for college and I want to get noticed, so I figure what better way to do it then to whore out my skills to make over-hyped fan-material? That and wear a REALLY COOL HAT! It worked really well this year.
But like I said, I don't know where to go to have my work printed professionally. I'm pretty sure that very few would purchase my wares if they were all presented on 8.5 x 11 sheets of printer paper.

Also, in the manga, Naruto makes more of a sound instead of words.
Kind of like Kenshin's "Oro?"

I hate Naruto.
Actually, I hate pretty much every anime I've seen with more than 52 episodes. And a lot of them with less. I mean, I'm not into "anime." I'm into the individual shows. I dislike the majority of anime.
Sometimes I feel like the least nerdy of my friends. mad p
The only ones I can really say I like right now are Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu, .hack//sign, FLCL, and Azumanga Daioh.
I heard that Tales of Symphonia is getting an anime. If it did, that'd be cool. o____o
