I should double check that You don't have to see them for Gaia to get the money. I'm not so sure about that, but money is kind of what they have a cash shop for. If a good microtransaction system weren't enough to keep s**t running smoothly, every MMO ever would have ads in the place of loading screens.

Pretty certain Gaia's always used click based ads, not view based ads.
Which would strike me as appropriately counter-intuitive now that they've expanded.
