It depends on what people call the "Internet" and what people call the "World Wide Web" cause they're not the same sweatdrop ...
EDIT: The World Wide Web was invented by a scientist for scientific information management and to make it easier to share information.
The Internet was originally a Military thing that didn't get public attention until the 1990's. I suspect the Military allowed it to go public in order to cover up all the Military background uses and to overshadow them. Its hard finding a metal pin in a barren valley, but, its even harder to find a metal pin in a overgrown and weed-infested valley xd ...

Technically, the internet's still owned by the US Government, but of course it's already grown way out of the ability of any country to control. I won't be surprised if one day the internet spawns a race of highly intelligent computer viruses that control of all the world's communications systems.
@Niph: I've discovered my internet connection isn't as crash hot as I thought. It frequently 'black outs' and I can't connect to it, no matter what I do. That's what you get when you sign up to a shady second-string internet supplier I suppose. ninja

Hopefully that day never comes. RIGHT!?!? But, hypothetically, what would one have to do to help them achieve such a feat? Hypothetically and in no real way, of course mrgreen ...

>: ) Let's set up a virus factory!!! xD
@ elf: My problem isn't with the actual internet supplyer, it's because my laptop is so slow because of all the crap that my mum downloaded on it that it blacks out quite a lot anyway when i try to open anything. Yesterday, when i tried to open the internet, it started saying "windows cannot run this program because there is not enough disk space on disk C" or something. When i opened disc C and looked at some of the files in it, i highlighted one file because it was a load of stuff that couldn't even run on the computer, and pressed "delete," and it said "are you sure you want to send these 5930 files to the recycle bin?" and that was just one folder of about 40 on disk C!!!

One of my folders had about 245,000 files in it before sweatdrop
Though, that still not a lot considering I have some 90,000 Objects on my computer's hard drive. And one of those 245,000 File Folders would count as a single "object" rofl
Do me a a favor. I think I have an idea of what you can do it fix or speed up your computer.Start --> Run --> type in "dxdiag". --> Processor Type (Tell me what it says here). I have a high end one, so, I can have a massive game like Oblivion on high graphics running in the background and still go on the Internet and listen to music. Though, that usually creates a large instability issue xd ...

Art: give free art? <3 Niphy: t0shi's horns Well, maybe someday a common security program running a large computer network may break down and mutate. Or some malicious hacker uploads a virus. @Liani: Man you really need to get a bigger hard drive. Or move most of the stuff onto a USB. Or just delete them. Why would your mum use your laptop anyway? Unless that laptop is 'hers' and she's just letting you use it. razz
