Deliriously Lost elfwyn141 Im kinda having a problem here So, at my school the seventh and eigth grade band are together and next year Im going to be the only 8th grade trumpet. Im obviously going to get 1st chair, but just one thing worries me, I hate solos. Hate solos! I must be out of my mind! Well, I told my bd about it, and all he did was tell me every trumpet loves solos. Am I truly out of my mind? burning_eyes Oh, no way. When I was in the 8th grade I knew I was going to be section leader, but I too was afraid to play solos. D: I get so freakin' nervous. It turns out, in the 8th grade I switched to Baritone, to help out the band and I should have known that the baritone gets most of the solos. :[ I remember regional festival, I played a solo and it was dead silent. It was crazy, I was shaking. ANYWAY.... So 7th grade I received nothing but 2nd parts. 8th grade I got all first parts, I played baritone in concert band and trumpet in marching. In the 9th grade, I got 2nd parts, and a few firsts...I hated being a freshmen, why does it have to be about seniority, it should be about how well you play. 10th grade? I don't know yet, going to be a sophomore in about a month. Oh, and I've been playing 6 years. 3nodding I just get really nervous around my bd. He expects so much! He really scares me sometimes. The only reason I did solo and emsable(sp?) this resent year was because I didn't want to tell him no....

starry_twilight I am third trumpet part in my jazz band. Does anybody know a jazz band with flutes? I do my jazz band has flutes.....I play second trumpet in that.

im a first chair trumpet in a school band ive been playin almost 4 years as of now i dont own a trumpet

my bands trupet section is made up of 12 trupet player (middle school band) and im 1 out of the 3 girls who plays. the guys talk nonstop which has given our section a really bad image. i play 1st and have braces and most of our section has braces and they always wine so im like suck it up...and yeah

Well last year we had about 8 trumpets. Three of those trumpets were seniors and left and one of them quit. So we were left with 4, half our strength. Now we have two new freshmen...who are 'eh' mateiral, and another one is quiting...
How does one go about with all this stress? ((i'm the section leader))

You must have a small band.
I'm fourth out of thirty-something.
I'm honestly better than everyone in front of me, though.
I don't know how you'd deal with that.
Just be the best you can and help them to get better?

I got the postion of section leader for my bands trumpets blaugh (middle school) for this year but last year I was 6th chair(third trumpet) and the person in front of me is my friend and the two first chairs are cool but the two second trumpets sucked every time we had to play our tuneing note everyone would hit it(very easy) but those two idiots never hit it they always had to try again like 50 more times it felt like scream . And the three third trumpets, including me, were all why are they in front of us!!! The one we think is because supposeabley took private leasons but you could totaly could tell he didn't, and the two of them couldn't play this on part of a song we were playing and my BD got so frustrated evil she told them not to play because if they played it the whole song sucked. AND I have to worry about it this new school year but luckly my friend that was in front of me is also section leader with me.

My biggest pet peave is when someone doesn't care about band, but still is good. That happened last year when it was just Brit and me. He was some sports jock, could care less about band, yet exceled musically.
My bd just loved him, too.

Bd just thinks I have mental problems. burning_eyes haha all BDs have mental problems =P but see these kids arnt even good they suck they never practice er nething ok they cant even hit a middle C and they cant hold a tone to save their life! ugh it gets me so pissed off! the only reason theyre in band is because their parents are making them and they think its some big joke! when the rest of us are taking is seriously! heart Trumpets heart <3 Morganna

I'm a trumpet player. I've played trumpet since 5th grade and i've played first part for every single piece of music. I'm in my sophmore year and I play first trumpet parts. Not section leader because of senioroity...
