Hemlocke and Anna-Mia tamed the bear as Glimmer activated its trap card, and Hemlocke admired the show as the fight wound down to a close. Between the golden light of the horned rabbit and the glittering light of the blue motes that littered the area, the girls had created a discotheque in the middle of the Gloomwood. "You know, if the warrior thing doesn't pan out, we could start a night club and make an absolute killing." Hemlocke giggled, spreading her arms and spinning around in the dancing lights for a moment, enjoying the fairy tale setting that they had created. "I think I might need that break now, though. If that's okay with you two."

For reasons known only to the gilded rabbit, this bear had done SOMETHING to piss off Glimmer. Anna-Mia was taken aback as the copper-red stripe along Glimmer's right side began to glow with an unearthly red light as her eyes glowed a heavenly yellow light. Whatever trauma Glimmer had received when she got that scar seemed to make a significant mark on her soul. Glimmer stomped the ground and glared at the Bear as beams of light crashed from above. five blue beams made a loose star around the battle area as six more yellow beams descended from above, spiralling into a light corkscrew drill. It was going to hit the ground behind Anna-Mia and Hemlocke, but before it touched the ground it bent at a 90 degree angle and shot between them towards the Bear. The beam sailed over the diminutive head of Glimmer and into the ever crumbling paw of the Bear, sending the bear crashing down to the ground instantly on impact and causing it to finish crumbling due to friendship. The light drill hit the ground after decisively handling the Bear, and the light quickly dissipated, only faint streaks being left behind for a second after the beams left before all evidence of this act was removed.
Anna-Mia had seen these kinds of beams being called by Bakugami in the picture that Hemlocke had shown her, but she never expected this kind of power to be called to her own side. "Amazing...I'm so glad I chose to start doing this now. If this is how potent this is with a base entity, there's no telling how powerful their CHILD will be." Anna-Mia looked to Hemlocke "That said, that club thing sounds like it could be fun, but could we not do the killing?" She thought about what she had just said, and then put her right hand to her forehead. "Wow, I DO need a break."

Hemlocke had celebrated entirely too early to appreciate the absolute awesomeness that was the lightstorming rabbit, and suddenly felt the inexplicable need to acquire a grenade with a three count fuse as a potential countermeasure for when the thing turned out to be the final boss of the game. She stopped dancing as the full weight of the preceding events hit her and she watched the crumbling bear dissolve into nothingness.
"Well, I mean could we at least loot the coat room?" She giggled and took a deep breath, inhaling the clean smell of ozone left in the air by the charge of the battle. For a moment, it overpowered the dank, musty smell of the Gloomwood, and it almost felt like they might have done some small work towards reclaiming this land. Or at least cleaning it up.
The witch touched the talisman set into her spellbook and the motes of light hanging in the air began to swirl around the girls like a whirling cloud of fairies before coalescing and disappearing into the glowing gemstones on the cover of her journal. "Well, I suppose it's time to head in to rest a bit, huh?"

Anna-Mia smiled and picked up Glimmer, giving her thorough pets before placing her in the open hood of her golden hoodie. Glimmer had more than proven herself, and deserved a break. She looked back to Hemlocke and nodded. "I suppose...but yes, a break would probably be for the best. If for no other reason than to take stock of what these Bears decided to give us." She looked over the battlefield once again. "I'm sure I have even more work ahead of me, but this was a better proof of concept than I could have hoped for."

Gotef had no idea what she was doing. She was in the Gloomwood, doing something that everyone in the world would tell her to not do as hard as possible. That said, she remained unimpressed by the Boars that were said to be threats, so this couldn't be any worse. The 10 ft behemoth of a woman strode out into the wilderness until she came upon her quarry. A Gloom Bear. Its pelt had large patches from mange and various diseases that ate away at its frame, and its mouth was coated in drool and froth. She had heard that Bear Meat was fairly tough and bland. She wanted to prove that any meat could be made palatable through her artistry. She strode towards the bear as she put her glasses away in a protective case, and squared up. "Hey big boy. Want a REAL fight?"

WELL. That could've gone a lot better. Gotef started to throw a left hook, when the lumbering frame of the Bear rose up to claw her in the right shoulder with its OWN left. This had the unfortunate effect of stuffing her attack, and knocking her clean away from the Bear as its massive Bear hands dug into the rippling meat of the Giant's shoulder. Luckily, she managed to take most of the hit on her padded armor, but sweet JESUS those claws hurt. The whole of the shoulder had been rent asunder by the claws of the ursine, blood starting to pool around the scratch marks. She smiled wide. Now THIS was a FIGHT. She kept light on her feet, testing the waters this time with a right jab to truly feel out her opponent.

Gotef's aim stayed true, and her head remained calm, as her right fist connected with the snout of the Bear with a snap. It reeled back, blinking, before roaring and swiping with its own right claw. Gotef smiled and leaned back out of the way deftly. She didn't care if she had to nickel and dime this thing down, she was going to punch this bear out if she had anything to say about it. While the Bear was bent slightly over, she raised her left hand over her head, ready to slam her fist into the waiting temple of this beast. If anything would grab his attention, it would be someone punching a bear senseless in a world where that wasn't initially an option.

Gotef cursed herself as soon as she started plummeting her fist down. This was a very compromising position to take in the middle of a fight, and she should have known better. To her credit, she did LAND the punch, but it was only a glancing blow, as the Bear began to shift and rise for its own attack. From its crouching position, it lifted its right claw skyward in a makeshift uppercut right to Gotef's chiseled stomach, thoroughly knocking the wind out of her as it raked its claws up her gut. Again, the armor she was wearing afforded her SOME padding, but those claws were finding it ALL the way through it. If it wasn't giving her that little bit of protection, she almost wondered why she was wearing it at all at this point. She cracked her neck and went in for a left hook. She had to deal some significant damage and quick, or else this fight was all but lost.

These trades needed to stop and fast. Gotef managed to land a thunderous left hook to the Bear's temple, but in the process, it managed to use the tilting momentum to bring its right claw down on her left shoulder to even her out. She grunted in pain as the Bear tried its best to right itself from the whacking it got at the Titan Boxer's hands. Gotef was beginning to sweat and breathe hard. This was night and day to the Boar "fight". This was actually a battle between semi-equals. Well, she'd like to say that, but she could tell that her opponent was doing far better off than she was. She was beginning to regret this decision, but she was also unwilling to back down. She had to rely on her footwork here, since her bulk wasn't going to be a factor. She went for a simple straight to the face of the Bear, hoping to start making magic happen.

Focusing on her footwork seemed to be the right course of action. As Gotef was throwing her Straight, she noticed the twin foreclaws of the bear rearing above its head as it was ready to strike. She changed tact, using the punch to bop it in the nose enough to distract it. She didn't do it with any real impact, she just needed to escape that attack. Once her fist connected she pulled back in the second that it took the bear to regain its senses. It was not happy about being played like that, and it roared in defiance. Gotef Roared back, not giving this bear any play. She was the bigger creature here, and would not take any sass from this thing anymore. She adjusted to her full height, sick of getting her shoulders clawed out. Against her, she ALWAYS had the high ground.

31-14=17/4=4+20=24 damage immediately to bear, +5 poison for 3 rounds, +5 poison for 4 rounds, +5 bleed damage for 3 rounds
Cthaer had been stalking a bear for a short while, trying to find his time to strike. Unfortunately, some behemoth of a woman came charging into combat with it, and he was left without recourse. Not that he saw anything against stealing, per se, more that he didn't want to fight a bear and then immediately be thrown into a fight with someone who routinely went around punching bears in the face. So he watched and waited for the moment when the entertainment would be over and his next course of action would be decided. If the bear killed her, then he could always charge in while it was weakened from the encounter. If she killed the bear, then he would be able to move on in a direction that she was not in, and perhaps get to actually complete an ambush.
So for now, he watched and waited, observing the fight, the shade's glinting yellow eyes following every movement from the shadows. He slowly came to realize that the woman had no chance. In fact, she was going to do so little damage to the bear that it wasn't even worth it to clean up after her. Cthaer was not a fan of taking a bear in a fair fight, and with its senses heightened after the battle, he would not be able to ambush it adequately. So what to do? He couldn't loot her corpse unless he killed her, and he wasn't interested in getting a bounty on his head for killing someone who obviously didn't have the equipment to even arm herself before facerolling into a deathmatch. The wounds he would take from the bear would slow him down for the rest of the day if he were engaged in an even match with it. And, speaking of slowing him down, he would have wasted all this time stalking this bear for nothing if he chose to simply walk away. It seemed his only course of available action was to actually assist the suicidal pugilist. That way, he wouldn't be involved in a fair fight, and he could get a few licks in before she kicked the bucket. Yeah. He could use some cannon fodder. Something to distract the bear while he did his work. But he'd have to act fast. Unfortunately, he didn't have time to scan for weaknesses or to move into a better position. This chick was going to die far too quickly for any of that. Better to get his damage in in the melee, and hope for the best afterward.
As the woman engaged in all but a literal pissing match with the bear, the shade coalesced from shadow, sprinting low and quiet from behind the woman. As she took a wide stance and challenged the roaring bear --who, by all accounts was already murdering her-- the boy slid, the damp, fallen leaves and other detritus making for a suitable barrier between himself and the ground, to save him from the ravages of friction. As the woman roared, the shade glided between her feet. And as the bear's roar ended, Illfang slashed at the tendon and muscle of its inner thigh. Cthaer was hoping to deal enough damage that he could keep it from rearing. If its front paws stayed down, it lost reach and leverage, not to mention it would only be able to attack with one claw at a time, since it would be compensating for its ruined hindquarter with the other.

Bear 1 31/100 HP -20 to all combat rolls 1-90: attack (will attack party members at random. 1-90 can be split into as many parts as needed to ensure everyone has an equal chance of getting attacked) 91-100: rage for one round, reducing the penalty to all rolls to -10, and reducing damage taken by half.
Things happened so fast. As she was raising up, she thought she heard the Bear grunt in pain. She hadn't attacked again yet, but she was definitely binging a right down at it. Was it scared of her punches? No, this was at the very tail end of its roar. As she looked downward to aim at the head of the Bear, she saw the frame of an interloper between her legs. "Hey! What the hell are you-" Pain. She had been too distracted. The bear had descended onto all fours, but not before taking a healthy chunk out of her left thigh on the way down. To its credit, it WAS the nearest thing in arms' reach when she was standing upright, so it made a good decision. However, it's descent meant that her fist had missed its mark. That was bad. Her vision was blurring, and her knees began to feel like gelatin. She had no count of how much blood she had lost during this, but it couldn't have been a healthy amount. She chose to ignore the spindly pervert for now, she'd get answers later. She bent down and used the positioning of her left hand to bring it under the bear's chin for an uppercut.

Apparently, miss "I'm about to be eaten by a bear, esq." had noticed Cthaer as he was sliding under both she and the animal. As much as he was a fan of having an audience, Cthaer wasn't much in the mood for a monologue at this point. Illfang was dripping with red, and began to drink that light into itself, where it pooled into a small crystal orb in the hilt. The bear was effectively crippled, and Cthaer was behind it now. It seemed that it hadn't noticed the shade attack it, and must have simply attributed that pain to its current combatant, who it was regarding more warily in response to the vicious wound. Between the horrendous bleeding and the gallons of venom now pulsing through the creature's body, Cthaer wasn't worried about the fight anymore. At the rate it had been going, the chick will die right around the time the bear will. Might as well take a swipe at the back of the knee on its uninjured leg to balance it out.

With all of her might, Gotef sprang upward, the full force of this movement pulling the Bear along with her fist. Whatever the spindly person did to this bear had sapped its strength significantly. The Titan Boxer felt no resistance from her opponent as she belted them skyward. At the apex of the Bear's ascent, it began to crumble into shards as the bear did before. She grabbed her skinning knife and her glasses case, looking at the shrimp before her. Compared to her, he was the size of a toddler, but that wasn't saying much. Most people couldn't hope to reach eye level with her, so she was used to it. She stood straight as she looked down to this guy. "You should really ask permission before you go between a lady's legs. I'll let it go, and instead..." She pulled her glasses out of her case and put them on. "Thank you for saving my life." Her knees finally threw in the towel, and she dropped to her right knee, now roughly eye level with the man who saved her for reasons unknown.

Cthaer was surprised. He had somewhat underestimated his gargantuan, surprisingly adequate, meat shield. Either that or he had overestimated himself. He hadn't necessarily intended to save the woman. Neither, though, could he just murder her. He had more meant to scavenge her corpse than preserve her life, and now that her life had been preserved, he had no authority to end it, much as he liked the doing the whole stabby thing. So what was there to do? Talk? What kind of crazy person talks to people? That would be insane. ~Insane? We wouldn't want to do anything insane, would we?~... Fair point. What was she saying? Cthaer's voice was metallic, like a knife in shadow, raspy and barely tangible. He sounded like he just never used it in conversation. "Well, to be honest, I hadn't expected you to be alive to ask." He felt an ominous wind blowing, and as the shadows of the leaves danced across his skin, his flesh moved toward and away from the edge of the shadow plane. He tried to figure out what was wrong, but he couldn't see anything. ~huh~"In the future, as advice, it's better to eat the animals than to let them eat you. Bite the thing, establish dominance." He flashed his sharpened teeth in a grin, each of them glistening in the swimming light, as if they were the only part of him that remained entirely in the physical realm when cast in shadow. "Where exactly is your weapon? You know, I know a guy who can hook you up."
