You walk through the dark, shadowed forest. In the middle of a clearing, with one single ray of light centered on it, is a mirror. What do you see when you look at it?
I see my reflection - I see who I really am inside.
I see who I have become - all my past efforts and endeavors roll before my eyes.
I see potential - the future, with all its possibilties, becomes clear to me.
I see my inner demons. I recognize them, so that I may conquer them.
I see darkness; the mirror is not a mirror, but a window to my soul.
I see someone else - the mirror is not a mirror, but a window, showing me my heart's true desire.
I refuse to examine the mirror. It is an illusion - I do not need it to tell me what I already know.

Myrrelda snorted at the title 'Lucifer.' That name was purely a human invention, as both demons knew, because what 'king of the demons' would reveal his or her true name? Myrrelda stopped laughing abruptly, and pushed a golden bang out of her eyes before giving Farfarello an extremely serious stare.

"It's not," she agreed. "But I can laugh anyway. And as I recall, there were quite a few moments when you didn't think of women with a negative connotation whatsoever." Inwardly, Myrrelda wondered what she actually ought to do about the new development. Farfarello was without his full strength? No wonder he hadn't tried to dismember her already. Although, Myrrelda was quite sure that Farfarello would lose any fight between them (especially now), that wasn't the point of her self-conferencing.

Should she try to help him regain his powers? He was a typical male; wouldn't show gratitude for anything, and she did not really care to attempt to help him with the little problem he'd encountered. Or, as another thought took root in her mind, she could take advantage of Farfarello's weakness. Yes, that seemed like a much more desirable option.

"If you want, darling," she mused, refusing not to take humor in every little ounce of this situation, "I could protect you from the big, bad, scary monsters."

But Belphagor really would be a problem. If he ever discovered Farfarello's predicament... well, Myrrelda would just have to go back to a less desirable place to see him again. And... she continued to think, a bit disgusted, he actually would carry around parts of Farfarello's physical manifestation, although probably not quite the way Far thought he would.

"Who raised you?" The male demon suddenly asked suspiciously, trying his very best to ignore the insult. "And don't call me that."

Myrrelda sighed, and sidled back over to Farfarello's side. Taking again an iron grasp on and looped through his arm.

"A lonely sorcerer who just wanted company of the female variety, I suppose. I might be wrong, though, because I killed him before I could ask."

Well, that was that. "...Darling."

"Oh good; you've saved me the trouble." He looked pleadingly at Raedou and Perrault. He suddenly felt as if all of his energy had been drained from his body. He let himself fall into the hot sand, almost breaking his arm that was still dangling from Myrrelda's demonic grip. He tried to enjoy the sun. He looked up at her. She truly was beautiful. But still not worth it! He thought harshly to himself.

((NoOoOoOo~~!!))

Myrrelda's lip curved upwards on the corner, again (it was almost permanently like that, in Farfarello's presence), and she--with a strange expression that was a combination of amusement and disdain--let the ransomed appendage fall to the ground, stepping away and wiping sand off of her arms. Ugh, she thought, shaking her head at the intensity for which she was attracted to this repulsive creature.

And then there were the mortals, to deal with. This... old man, who covered his deformed head, was very nearly having a heart attack at her presence. It wasn't like she was obnoxious, rude, and cruel - that was saved only for her dearest. Or, maybe she was. She didn't have any experience dealing with mortals, anyway. Maybe they would prove Farfarello right when he spoke of their extreme annoyances and vices. But, he'd never spoken of any such thing to Myrrelda.

Huh. Must be a gap in communication.

"If you're going to lie in the sand," Myrrelda sniffed, "try to be considerate of those whose time you're wasting, dearest."

((Well, meh parents have just turned on the TV... I guess they don't plan to leave quite yet. My project takes second place, then. neutral ))

He laid down and covered his eyes with one arm, and raised up the other (the one that had just been released), his middle finger reaching for the sky. "Where is Ephlas, by the way?" He asked, content to take a nap in the desert sand.

((What project?))

"Who?" Myrrelda asked idly, not really caring one way or the other, as she began to take interest in the wrecked sand skiff. Walking over to it, the she-demon reached into the wreckage one strong, slender hand (breaking quite a few things that she punched through in the process) and pulled out a round, silver stone. It was shiny and smooth, as if worn down by years of erosion by a river bed. There were no rivers anywhere near this place.

Ephlas was heading in the exact opposite direction as Raedou, Farfarello, and company, on a sand beetle with Clem. He was a bit further south than them. although having started from the center of Rantuinne, rather than the northeastern corner of it. Since they were heading to the underground prison (of disputed name), they would likely not encounter Ephlas. There was absolutely nothing but idle ruins in the southeastern-most corner of Rantuinne... or so the entire world thought.

"Ephlas," Farfarello said dryly, "a mage. And the only reason I'm traveling with these people in the first place." It pained Farfarello to be presented with such an excellent opportunity to flee, had he his power. For the first time since they'd arrived there, the demon cursed the desert; had they been in in a less obstacle-free place, he could leave while Myrrelda was sleeping. (Given she wasn't clinging to him). He frowned.

((OMG I want to see it XD XD ))

"Ah," Myrrelda replied, having not been listening. The shiny smooth silver stone was definitely not from the desert. Or from a still oasis. It had to be from a river, and which river would that be? Myrrelda wasn't familiar with all the local geography, but she was smart enough to know that desert does not equal river.

Farfarello opened one eye, "What's that?" He asked quite cordially.

((Definitely making one of these XD Thanks for the link!))

Treasure, seemed to be the one thing (or one of the few things) that Farfarello and Myrrelda were in sync with about. "It's a stone," she replied, "but it cannot possibly be from the desert. Unfortunate that your mage friend isn't here to examine it."

Although she had no intention of giving the stone to anyone. Or of returning it to its apparent owner, the driver who had wrecked the sand skiff. Myrrelda suddenly looked around, warily, and nothing was visible on any horizon. "...how dangerous are these sands?" Myrrelda asked suddenly, an unrelated but possibly soon-to-be imperative question.

"I haven't been here long enough to say, but so far no danger." Farfarello stood up. "I would have liked to have him examine my ring as well, the one you ate. Maybe it will burn a hole in your stomach." He said hopefully. He looked cautiously over Myrrelda's shoulder at the stone and came to the same conclusion that it was not, in fact, from the desert.

Myrrelda knelt down and placed a single hand on the sand. "There are tremors, rippling throughout the sand," she said, ignoring the comment about the ring. She'd get it back eventually. "What does that signify?" she asked, referring to the tremors. It was a faint pulse, barely visible, as the sand rippled much like water would, from a huge center somewhere far away.

"I don't feel anything..." Farfarello copied her. He put his ear to the ground (effectively filling it with sand) to listen. The tiny vibrations alerted him to the underground tremors. He stood back up and hit the other side of his head to clear it of the sand. "It may be the Horde - Giant flesh-eating insects." He explained, a bit inaccurately, but close enough (in his opinion).

Myrrelda took her hand from the ground. "Oh, so your aunts are coming, is that it? Here I was worried that we'd be in danger. Pity, too..." she trailed off, still watching the horizon for any movement.
