I saw that but I think I'm going to wait until I have enough money to get a fully blown piece. Her portraits are lovely though!

Mekania I saw that but I think I'm going to wait until I have enough money to get a fully blown piece. Her portraits are lovely though! It's pretty rare for her to do private commissions for full peices though; most of her full stuff are commercial comish.

Does anyone know where to find these Mohammed cartoons everyone's upset about?
I donno how it is where you guys live, but I live right next to Denmark and this war is constantly on the news and no one dares to freaking print the pictures that started it all. So no one really knows what this is all about. :S I found like four at google but I want to see all twelve. *very curious*
This can't be happening...how can art start a riot like this where people get killed and harassed? 4 people have died so far and the danish artists have a price on their head. eek

I asked her about it a bit ago though and she told me that'd she'd be willing to do one as soon as her current projects are completed. ^^ I just have to make sure I have the money before I note her about it.

I'm amused. Art isn't meant to please everyone, but these idiots want to go & have a riot about it. I have no respect for that. Even if it was a poltical cartoon, I don't care. The cartoon was printed in September last year & only now the crap has started. Why? Because people decided to show it to the others who got offended & now are burning & killing. The cartoons are like about these people when they get angry they become cruel, & violent...& then what do they do? They become cruel & violent. It's truth.

I agree. Up north we find freedom of speech very important. Like someone wise said; I hate what you are saying, but I would die for your right to say it. But now that Sweden stands up for Denmark in public I get scared. O_o;;; Those people freaks me out. D: I remember a year ago when an artist here had drawn Jesus like a naked gay man in several paintings...christians raised an eyebrow or two but no riot. I found all twelve finally! http://michellemalkin.com/archives/004413.htmI mean what is the deal? The only one slightly offensive is the virgin one but pffft. If someone wants me to translate danish just tell me.

I'm pretty sure, as part of the Islamic religion, you are not allowed to depict Mohammad. For example, in all the ancient Islamic paintings, his face is covered in white cloth. It has religious meaning. I think that's part of why they are offended.

Yes I know. But the can't expect non-muslims to follow islam. And it definanly is'nt an excuse for their actions towards danes ect. :/ I can fully understand that they are upset but not this upset. They are making fools out of themself and the whole situation is dangerous. They could have just fought back by drawing ugly danes or why not Jesus in a funny pose?
EDIT: When I write they I mean the muslims that have reacted whith violence and threats.

ChemieChan Yes I know. But the can't expect non-muslims to follow islam. Well...the can, it just isn't very realistic. The ones who are getting bent out of shape and violent are probably not the most realistic or practical of people... sweatdrop I mean, it's not just muslims. Other groups have gotten bent out of shape about someone doing something that doesn't fit into that group's rules...even when the person isn't part of the group. *cough*gaymarriage*cough* If you put things into perspective, it's not the expectations that are out of line...They aren't hurting anybody. It's the response when the expectations aren't met that is the real problem.
