(don't forget the bow)

"Naw, it sure don't," Link answered s he stared down at the branches, "Any ideas?"

"We don't have time for this," Sheik said somewhat sharply, "I'll go first; it won't be difficult for me to jump to another branch if something feels like it's giving out. Link, if you could look through that lens of yours to check for traps, I would appreciate it. Keep track of where I step, but don't start until I'm across." As he said these last words, he looked pointedly at Moria. "Alright?" With that, he handed Link the bottle of red fire and started across.

Link took the small flame and placed it back in his bag near the green flame he already collected. Together, the two shined with an effulgence that made it easy for the hylian to identify his items. With the Lens of Truth in hand, Link looked around at his surroundings, "Ok, that way and that way definitely have traps, and thar are a few more along the way. I'll tell you when you get near."

As Link was looking through the Lens of Truth, he noticed something. What he noticed was that there was an invisible rope hanging from one of the thicker branches. Although it would not be repelling - more like fast-roping - it could provide a way all the way to the ground. It appeared to be relatively windblown, but it was bolted down on the other end, and had a mild amount of tension on it.

"Zelda, that branch there, it has a rope, that's the goal," the blond reported, pointing out into the branches.

Sheik glanced behind him for a moment, made note of where Link was pointing, gave a terse nod, then turned and started carefully toward the spot. He wasn't really Zelda anymore, but the nuances of his relationship to the princess were overly complex, and Sheik didn't care enough to explain them, especially not right then.

Moria, taking up the back, began to become understandably nervous. "Ummm, let's get going, shall we? We've seen the path, right?" she urged.

Sheik reached gingerly upward, watching with calm, unimpressed eyes as his hands closed around absolutely nothing. He could feel the rope well enough, though, real as stone against his palms, and that was all that mattered. He started to pull himself upward, moving quickly hand over hand, with his legs dangling. Once well above the branch he looked down to check the progress of the others, and was surprised and a little exasperated to find that they hadn't moved. "I am no longer on the branch," he called pointedly, implying that one or the other of them could start across.

Link nodded then turned to the Kokiri, "Ya'll go first. I'll watch yer back."

Arryl narrowed her eyes. Was it that easy? Then she relaxed. The girl could see there was a sword in Arryl's hand, and she'd decided it wasn't worth the risk. Thank goodness. That had been way too difficult. Slowly she let the blade fall, but she kept her hand on it. "Good. Get moving, then."

Lowering her eyes, Sofia started to move foreward. Keeping her focus on the magma flying around, she also kept one eye directed at Arryl.

While walking slightly in front of Arryl, Sofia silently schemed. There was no doubt in her mind that Vladimir and his father would do something to help, but she needed to be on her toes as well.

"Yeek!" she screeched, jumping to the side as a huge, flaming rock collided into the ground just in front of her.

Moria nodded. "Here I go..." she muttered, moving quickly onto the branches. Her light weight allowed her to quickly navigate the branches. Only slightly less quickly than Sheik did she reach the rope, which she too grabbed onto and began to climb. She could already see that the top was another large branch, presumably leading back to the trunk of the giant. This escape was hardly an escape after all.

Arryl dove backwards with a shout. "What in the...?! What the heck is this?!" Drawing her sword, she touched the point to the small of the girl's back. "Explain, quickly."

It was not until the flames were at last at his heels that Link decided to move. It was not that he was frightened, quite the opposite. He did not want to leave to early only to find that man attacking them while they were climbing and defenseless. Carefully, the boy made his way across the branches to the spot where the rope was hidden, "brilliantly" finding it's exact location as it smacked him in the face. Link could feel the wood weakening beneath his feet and so, without even rubbing his now red face, the hylian began to climb.

Shiek, reaching the top, would find that the branch was almost perfectly flat, as though flattened by a giant hand. The path indeed led straight back into the trunk, but from on top they could see something more. The door was large, made of steel, and heavily painted. Aside from that, it had a massive lock on it. Or next to it; it appeared to have rusted away and dropped to the ground, and the door was slightly ajar.

Sheik pulled himself up onto the branch straightened, and quickly took in the path, the door, the useless lock. Suddenly he felt oddly jumpy, and not just because he was now definitely going to have to go back inside the burning trunk. Something about that door was not right, but he couldn't quite put his finger on what exactly was wrong. The fact that it was steel wasn't it, nor was the enormous, rusted lock, or the fact that the door was slightly ajar, revealing a thin strip of blackness, impenetrable even to his Shiekah eyes. Looking at it, he did not shiver, but if he had been anyone else, he would have. No. All those things were a little unnerving, sure, but this was... wrong... beyond the sum of it's parts.

Something flashed before his eyes, almost a memory, but more disconnected somehow. The person whose eyes he saw through turned, their gaze passing over quaint little houses--Kakoriko, some part of Sheik's brain said, and he knew it was true, though the town was certainly not the same Kakoriko he remembered--and stopped on a well. It was made of stone, and seemed to be in fairly good condition, but it was boarded up, and... It was wrong, too, wrong in the same way that the door was wrong.

Only at this point did Sheik realize that the viewer was having trouble keeping his feet; everything was shaking. The next moment the wood sealing the well shattered, and something shot out, straight at his, or whoever's, face. There was no time for fear, even for him. The air was gone from his lungs; his head snapped sideways as he literally flew backwards from the blow, and he saw someone else--Link! Sheik's brain said, though it wasn't, quite-- the handsome face showing nothing but absolute shock. Sheik could almost read his thoughts; Sheik?! Something hit Sheik?!?!

As the not-quite-memory faded, Sheik let out a slow breath, relief clouding his mind. This was just a feeling left over from something that had happened to the last Sheik. Something about the door reminded his subconscious of whatever that had been. As the relief faded, he tried not to let irritation take it's place; this incarnation business was monumentally distracting, which could get him killed if he wasn't careful.

Sofia cringed, then rolled her eyes.

"Like I said, Miss No Ears, it's dangerous up here. There's no telling where the rocks will fall. So calm down, will ya? I need to concentrate!" she snapped, moving around the flaming rock and continuing up the mountain. The gerudo was starting to annoy her.

((Am I the only one to notice that Sofia has an attitude?))
