Jack had calmed down enough to talk, again, and turned back around. "Relax, an ion cannon that powerful's gonna need time to recharge," he explained. "At the most it could take up to a month, the least two or three days. Although," he began, bragging once again, "If that stupid warlord had been smart enough to nab me the second I got here, I could get that thing to fire at least once a day."

Kikyo sat down, still holding her head, started to shake her head. "Please, slow down. I'm so confused. What is an ion cannon? And how is this ship not sinking? Is buoyancy some sort of magic?"

Jack thought it was kinda funny how confused Kikyo was, but, since she had been so nice to him, he decided to be nice to her. He kneeled down in front of her. "Buoyancy is a principle. Ya know how if you throw a piece of bread into the water, it'll float, but if you smush it up first, it'll sink? Buoyancy is just the name given to why things float. And an ion cannon is a type of weapon, and one was just used to destroy the town we were all in. It shoots out," he paused, trying to think of a simple way to explain it. "It shoots out a beam of destructive energy. Does that make sense?"

Kikyo took her head down and nodded. "Thanks Jack. I do not get things here as easily as others because of where I come from. It's hard to go from an area where we don't have much to a world with all this metal monsters and such. I'm thankful some knows how to explain it in a way I'll undrstand and not think it's because of ignorance."

"Well if we can't throw someone in I'm gonna throw myself in!" Yachiru said as she walked over to the railing and jumped onto the railing. She looked down and said "Hopefully there's no sharks!" as she then bent her knee's slightly and jumped away from the deck and into the water.
"Translated: I'm taking a swim!" Hitsugaya muttered as he watched Yachiru jump into the water.

"Well, technically, it is because of ignorance," Jack began, shifting so that he was sitting instead of kneeling. "But just because you're ignorant of something doesn't mean you're stupid. It just means you don't know about it. Oh, and those 'metal monsters' are machines, like the engine for this boat. They don't have souls or brains or anything. Just electricity and oil and fuel. Get what I'm saying?"

"Electricity? Is that the little balls of fire that come on with a switch? (light bulbs)"

"What?" Jack asked, wondering what she was talking about. "Oh, you mean light bulbs? Well, they use electricity to make light, but that's not electricity itself. Ever see lightning? That's what electricity is."

She nodded. "So they use the power of lightning to make those 'light bulbs' shine like a little fire?" Trying her best to understand.

Kenpachi sighed and sat down against a wall and thought about how he had missed all of the fightning recently. it was something that kinda pissed him off.

"That's one way of putting it, yeah. But you don't need a thunderstorm to have electricity. For example, this," Jack said, holding up his arm to show his wrist computer, "Uses electricity, too. There's this little thing in it called a battery. To make things almost ridiculously simple, a battery is like a little electricity container."

Jack nodded. "In my world, just about everything uses electricity. There's all kinds of ways it can be put to use. Everything from powering machines and light bulbs to storing information and sending and picking up signals for pictures and sounds."

"Oh, so you are from the future like Kagome? (her future is our present, remember that) Please, tell me more. I have nothing to do and know little, I would love to hear more about that life of those from outside my time."
