6th,7th,8th grade I was 1st chair.

9th grade: Marching Season: 2nd part (the fate of all freshmen that year)
Concert Season: 2nd chair/1st part (2nd to a senior)

10th grade: Marching: 1st part
Concert Season: 2nd/3rd chair (the section was kinda loose and we alternated parts sometimes so first and second part)

11th grade: Marching: Trumpet section leader/1st part/solo
Concert Season: 3rd chair/2nd part mostly/a random first part thrown in ( I really don't know what happened there, apparently my audition wasn't as hot as it could have been xp )

12th grade... well we'll have to see about that!!

I have 2 trumpets, an Olds ambassador, for school... and a eterna by getzen severensen for practicing, fore it is too fancy and a better horn than my other... But I want to get a Bach Stratovarious in my future trumpet carrier... wow. And i have 2 mouth pieces, 7c and 5c.
Last summer in band camp i was second to last chair XD 3rd part. But Ive been taking proffessional lessons for the last year, so i should do better than that XD.

I don't know what you just said, I'm only in my second year of band, and I already play two instruments, I wonder if Mr. Jordhiem needs a cornet

I was 3rd chair last year in my band...3/9 isn't that bad. But...when I came to my school all the really good senior people left so the 'good-playing' was basically about to go down...this year i made the top band but still it's just because most people leave and my band teacher needs to fill up space...

Is it just me or do trumpet players generally say what chair they are? For example, I'm Luke and play jazz chair in my jazz band. (that's 2nd and gets all the solos for you not so jazzy cats)

Lol! Trumpets are the best. I've been first chair since six grade! Lol (I'm a junior now)
And of course we usually say our chair Lochrian!
We're effin trumpet players! And if you haven't noticed....the trumpet section is usually the most egotistical! Next to the percussionists! heart

Of course we have giant egos, the trumpet is so darn cool man. We're loud and proud man.

Im kinda having a problem here
So, at my school the seventh and eigth grade band are together and next year Im going to be the only 8th grade trumpet.

Im obviously going to get 1st chair, but just one thing worries me, I hate solos.

Hate solos! I must be out of my mind!

Well, I told my bd about it, and all he did was tell me every trumpet loves solos.

Am I truly out of my mind? burning_eyes

Lol. Eh being the only eigth grade trumpeter isn't all that bad. But your solos might not be all that long. I wouldn't really worry about it.

Me? I'm the only GIRL in the trumpet section. The HIGH school trumpet section. So when the Grabass game rolls around I'm pretty much the default a** to grab. gonk Oh well. I'm first chair and the section leader so I give them push ups. blaugh But I also have a solo during marching band this year. Which is great and all, but I hate playing a long solo to a whole stadium full of people.

But here's another question for the trumpet soloists. Have you ever heard or played a song by the name of "Napoli"? It's really hard and fun to play and I was just wondering who all knew of it. 3nodding

Oh, no way. When I was in the 8th grade I knew I was going to be section leader, but I too was afraid to play solos. D: I get so freakin' nervous. It turns out, in the 8th grade I switched to Baritone, to help out the band and I should have known that the baritone gets most of the solos. :[
I remember regional festival, I played a solo and it was dead silent. It was crazy, I was shaking.

ANYWAY....

So 7th grade I received nothing but 2nd parts. 8th grade I got all first parts, I played baritone in concert band and trumpet in marching. In the 9th grade, I got 2nd parts, and a few firsts...I hated being a freshmen, why does it have to be about seniority, it should be about how well you play. 10th grade? I don't know yet, going to be a sophomore in about a month.

Oh, and I've been playing 6 years.
