It was almost ironic how she'd just been telling Piper how she'd been born on a mountain, and the next floor was a mountain trail; maybe Darkrai was listening. She never considered herself much of a 'sentimental' pokemon, but the young Togepi was hit with a sense of familiarity, that bordered on home sickness, as she looked around. Which was dumb, because this didn't look anything like her old home (beside the shared traits that came with similar land forms), she and her parents had lived much higher up in their home. And yet...

☆ ☆【Fianna listened intently as the Medicham, who had hardly given even a glance back at them since the Gengar fight, looked over to her when she addressed him directly. She nodded in understanding as he seemed to more or less agree that he was also trying to find a way out and being brought in from the real world much like the rest of them had been. ”I see… Sounds like it was rather difficult, if you’ve been going it alone up until now at least,” she remarked with a hum, tilting her head slightly, ”All things considered, I would certainly hope that we aren’t that much further from the end…” She was certainly glad to have gotten in with a group when the first opportunity had come up, between their combined strength and numbers dealing with even the supposedly more dangerous guardians had been relatively easy. Even so, she couldn’t begin to imagine how much differently it might’ve been if she’d had to do it all by herself… She wondered why the Medicham hadn’t found a group for himself if it would’ve made it so much easier for him, though it could’ve been that maybe he was in a group but ended up getting separated from them, or he had deliberately chosen to do it alone. Her ears swiveled as Daiki spoke up, muttering about how the Medicham had kept talking about finding a new path or something along those lines since their encounter, distaste clear in his tone though the Fighting-type ignored it. The Braixen quirked a brow in curiosity at that, wondering what exactly the Medicham had meant by ‘finding a new path’. As in… finding a new path out of this place? Or finding a new path just in life in general?
As much as she would’ve wanted to inquire further about that, Fianna’s attention was quickly stolen away by the sudden change in scenery that greeted them upon reaching the top of the stairs. The road before them opened up to reveal a path leading upwards along a mountain, tapering off towards the peak that was more or less where they clearly had to go from here. Between the looming landmass before them and the apparently perpetual dusk of the sky above… this definitely screamed road to the final battle, and already the Braixen’s hackles began to rise in anticipation as her eyes stared hard at their apparent end goal: the peak. Seemed this would be where they would be facing off against the big bad guy himself, the fire fox nodding with a wry chuckle at Daiki’s comment that he’d be more surprised if Darkrai wasn’t the one waiting for them up there. She wasn’t sure what else there could possibly be after this if it wasn’t a final boss fight of some sort, but she certainly hoped that they would finally be able to get out of here. Still, if it was indeed Darkrai waiting for them up there, they’d have to be as prepared as they could be for what would surely be the toughest battle they’d have to fight. Fianna braced herself, ready to keep going, but paused to check in with Daiki first. She gave a small smile as he said he was as ready as he could be, nodding as they began moving once more. ”Yeah… Same here,” she agreed, keeping an eye on the path ahead for any narrow areas that would need more caution to cross.
Something about this whole thing just didn’t feel right… If Darkrai’s intentions had truly been to stop them from reaching this point, then surely the guardians would’ve come at them in swarms as opposed to having only a single one take on even large groups of Pokemon at a time. There had been more than enough of them to have achieved just that, and sending one up against a large group of four or five hardly seemed wise as far as tactics went. What exactly was Darkrai planning then…? She supposed they’d likely just have to wait and see for themselves once they got up to the top of that peak, though she wasn’t entirely certain if she really wanted to…
Still, if this really was going to be the last battle they’d have to fight before finally leaving the dream world… The Braixen frowned as the realization that this would likely be the last she’d ever see of her teammates after Darkrai was defeated set in, and she almost didn’t want to have to say goodbye after all was said and done. ”So… if this really is, well… the end of our journey here… I guess this’ll be the last we’ll see of each other, for a while at least…” she spoke up, her voice quiet as the sadness she felt at this fact bled through in her tone. She couldn’t help but tack on that last part, wanting to hold onto some modicum of hope that maybe she’d be able to see them again sometime in the future. ”I guess it’s best to just say it now, in case there won’t be time after we defeat Darkrai… But I’m really glad and grateful to have had the opportunity to meet and get to know all of you, and Bel too,” she added, giving a soft smile towards each of her teammates and adding in a bit of additional sentiment for their absent leader, ”I really just wish our first meeting could’ve been under much better circumstances than, well… this…” She hadn’t given much thought to how limited their time together was, but now that they were reaching what was sure to be the end it all came crashing upon her like a tsunami. As much as Fianna hadn’t wanted to give any thought to the notion, it was clear that the inevitability had been there from the start. It was almost hard to believe how they had changed from being a ragtag group coming together for protection and survival to becoming close acquaintances and good friends to some extent. Even Daiki’s playful flirting had gradually grown on her over time even though initially she hadn’t much cared for it, and she really did find it quite fun to play around and share in his mischief. She enjoyed Xiao Lan’s childish antics, and admired how the cheery little bat always seemed capable of making the best of a bad situation. And while Shade was still more or less an enigma to her, it presented a kind of mystery that really grabbed her interest and pushed her to want to learn more.
Even if she hadn’t necessarily said it aloud, she really would miss all of them when they would finally escape from this nightmare of a dream world. ”Still, maybe we’ll see each other again sometime in the real world, even if it’ll be a long time before that might be possible,” she suggested, offering a bit of optimism to take the edge off of the heaviness in the atmosphere and in her heart. She would definitely have to push Phoenix a bit more so they could finally get out of Unova and start exploring more of the world as a whole. Fianna wasn’t going to give up on the possibility of seeing them again so easily, even if it would take years to do so. Hell, she’d scour the whole goddamn planet to find them if she had to… At the very least, Shade and Daiki wouldn’t be that hard to pick out given that the former’s species were likely not very common and the latter’s unique color scheme especially made him stand out from any other Zoroark she might come across in her travels.】☆ ☆
