Gotef stayed light on her feet as the tusks of the boar came nowhere close to hitting her. Instead, her left fist knocked the boar's head clean away from hitting her entirely, a manuver it certainly didn't seem to expect. The Giantess felt the thrill of battle rushing through her, the call to combat that coursed through her genes that couldn't be denied. Not letting up on her opponent, she raised her right hand balled in a tight fist above her head with full intent of bringing down a hammer fist on this oh too trusting Boar. She had no clue what was going on in its mind right now, but it couldn't be thinking happy thoughts. Most people who hunted its ilk used a weapon to do so. What would it do when faced with someone whose weapon was their lack thereof?

The Boar had had enough of Gotef's nonsense and decided to truly fight back now. It had mentally prepared for its attacker's method of damage and homed in on its flesh-mountain of a target. Unfortunately for the Boar, Gotef was also ready for the Boar's response. With unnatural speed for someone her size, she sidestepped the Boar at the last second and brought the aforementioned hammer fist down with a vengeance on top of the Boar's head, knocking it down to the ground HARD with a sickening *THWACK*. On unsteady hooves, the Boar rose back on all fours with a fire in its eyes. it was clearly not satisfied with this turn of events, especially with never being able to hit a Giant. Gotef cracked her knuckles and sank low to the ground, her left fist craned WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back behind her. She was ready to end this fight with a bang weither this Boar wanted her to or not. All she needed is one last punch.

The Boar had decided not to move and take itschances against the Titan Boxer. Gotef smiled wickedly "Oh, you think that you have a chance." With unforseeable agility, she sprang forward from her position and landed even lower in front of the Boar. Time seemed to slow down as Gotef felt all of her muscles work in unison to bring all of the unspent kinetic potential up from her legs, up her torso, and into her left arm as she twisted her body into a SAVAGE rising uppercut. There was no resistance as the Boar's head snapped back in response tot he blow, their body pitching violently backwards in an unwilling backflip. As soon as its head faced the sky, the body dissolved into a shower of red shards that was flung towards Gotef and crept down the Boar's body as the momentum forced more of its anatomy skyward. With the entire Boar dissolved, Gotef froze in place and took some deep breaths before roaring in victory. Her challenge shook the foliage around her as her rippling physique danced in the dim sunlight. After she was done celebrating, she took her skinning knife in her hand and poked at some of the red shards. This was what the guide had told her to do, so she wasn't going to ignore its all too vague wisdom.

With the Boar well and truly dead, and a Boar Steak in hand, Gotef began walking back to the cook satisfied with what she had accomplished. She had proven to herself that this world was one that could handle not only her fighting style, but also she could still be a force of nature while doing it. Gotef had been in complete control that ENTIRE skirmish. She almost felt bad for the Boar, having to put up with such a deadly adversary out of the blue, but this was the way nature went. No one could convince her that she had an advantage in that fight, and she wished that someone was there to see exactly what she had just managed to do within this world. The Gloomwood was not ready for Gotef Jade Mythral, the Titan Boxer. No one was.

Quest: Mushroom Steak


It was finally the time that Gotef had been building up to this entire time! Every fallen tree, every dispalced mushroom, and every punch thrown was all for one purpose: Cooking. She listened to the Cook's instructions carefully, taking a knife and slicing the mushrooms into even vertical sections after washing them thoroughly. She learned that the spores of the Gloomshrooms WERE in fact poisonous, so removing them was quintessential to properly preparing the meal without unfortunate fatalities. After that, she pulled out some flour and VERY LIGHTLY breaded the mushrooms, giving them a nice even coating on all sides. She heated up a nearby pan, greasing it with a bit of boar fat that she trimmed off of the boar steak. She took the opportunity to season the steak with pepper, garlic, salt, and a SLIGHT hint of sage while the skillet heated up. When it had heated sufficiently she gently laid the steak down on the heated metal surface, the rapidly heating juices sizzling and popping in response to the sudden temperature change. When she had first prepared Boar Steaks when she was just a little girl, she had been syurprised that Boar meat was red instead of white/pink like a typical pig. Then again Ostrich meat was red too, so who can tell biology at this point? She let the steak sear for a bit on one side before removing it from the pan to put the mushrooms in to cook. This was to allow both pieces of the dish to not only finish at the same time, but to share in each-other's flavors in a more unified fashion. The Giantess, with delicacy unimaginable, gently turned the pan over the fire to shift the mushrooms around and keep them from sticking or cooking too thoroughly on one side. When she was satisfied with how things were going, she laid the Boar steak on top of the mushrooms on its raw side to continue its cooking. This had the effects of not only continuing to lock in the natural and seasoned flavors of the Boar Steak, but give it a cooked-in mushroom hint as well. The aroma filled the room and block adjacent as the one dish took excrutiatingly long to prepare. Gotef was nothing if not a perfectionist when it came to food, and she would not settle for her C game unless she was on a time table. Hell, even her B game was rarely enough for her overwhelmingly high standards, and that was gourmet quality. After 1 hour straight of cooking this one dish, she pulled the steak out of the skillet and put the finishing touches of crispness on the mushrooms. While the extra moiture from the boar blood had done the breadding no real favors, her methods made that disadvantage a strength. Once it was time, she gracefully transplanted the fired mushrooms on top of the Steak. The Steak was prepared Medium, and the mushrooms had a crunchy shell with a lightly moist center. The Giantess folded her arms in front of her after quenchiong the cooking fire, and waited for the approval of the chef.

Hemlocke was beaten somewhat to the punch by Anna-Mia, and the beastmaster noticed the bear before the witch did. Luckily, Glimmer intercepted the attack that was aimed at Anna-Mia, and Hemlocke put her palms together, forming a dense ball of sapphire light about the size of a marble in the growing space between her hands as she steepled her fingers. She fired what might be called a kikoho by some at the bear, catching it full on its unsuspecting side as it dueled with the abomination to the natural order that was Glimmer. In an effort to remain moving, the witch fired her next shot by pointing her left arm, fingers extended, palm down, at the bear, and put her right palm to her talisman. As she pulled wispy blue energy out of the blue stone there, she touched her right hand to the back of her left and ran the energy up toward her bicep, like a rubber band stretched back from her fingers. The energy condensed as it was stretched, and when Hemlocke released her hold on it like a pinched bowstring, the magic rushed down the back of her arm and between her knuckles, flying in the form of a small dart toward the animal.

    Not her best throw, but Anna-Mia could at least always count on Hemlocke to pick up her slack. Glimmer, too, had done excellently in keeping the Bear at bay. She was really glad to have such good friends. Although, the Bear didn't seem to appreciate being blindsided like that. it had turned its misguided rage towards Anna-Mia of all people. "I guess that's the thanks I get for seeing you first, eh? I hope Glimmer can do her best against you." Glimmer's horns remained in place as she stood steadfast to the attacker of her master, leaping up to catch and deflect their strike with her gleaming antlers.

    Hemlocke's dart of blue light struck the bear solidly, leaving a small palatinate mark on its putrid hide. Anna-Mia was the one who got the metaphorical 'kill,' though, and when her bait ran into the bear, drunk with the mind-altering effects of friendship, it began to give up the ghost, as it were. Hemlocke was getting fabulous practice. She had no qualms giving up the hearts to Anna-Mia as she collected the Light that was scattered about them. Using the energy that they were collecting here, Hemlocke would be able to create something akin to a friendship cannon. A veritable nuclear option for taming creatures. And Hemlocke was addicted to powerful spells.

    Wait. Where was she?

    Oh, yeah.

    She touched her talisman and drew in the motes of light that danced around them, continuing on with their hunt for bears. There always seemed to be a new one just out of sight. Which suited her needs just fine, honestly. But not everyone was as obsessive as she was. "How are you doing, Anna-Mia? Glimmer? Do you guys feel like taking a break?"

Glimmer looked up at her, and she could tell that she WAS fine, but wouldn't mind a break. "We could keep going if you wanted, but taking a short pause wouldn't be terrible either." She chucked a hunk of bait at the latest bear, finding it shockingly hard to focus for reasons she couldn't describe. She just needed to regroup and clear her head.

    Hemlocke watched as the bear charged terrifyingly toward Glimmer, utterly ignoring everything around it in an attempt to savagely murder the unofficial mascot of their little trio. The uberbunny met the and repelled the attack handily --hornily?--, leaving the bear open to the usual attacks from Hemlocke and Anna-Mia, albeit at a somewhat reduced level of efficacy, due to the ferocity of the charge making targeting a little difficult. Hemlocke's head wasn't apparently in the game, either. Some combination of the intense charge, bad luck, and her own exhaustion, led to her nearly entirely missing with a magic ******** missile. She really needed to take a bit of a break and get her head on straight. There was no excuse for that sort of thing. She readied her next shot and decided that this would be the last bear for the moment. Better to rest and recover than make a stupid mistake.

    As could be expected, the bear survived the first volley between the friends. Glimmer continued to try and hold the bear at bay as she was ordered to do, despite all accounts that the bear was losing steam fast. Anna-Mia's mind was hazy for unknown reasons. What was making her feel this way? She began to see flashes of Big Brother Rota in her mind, and that made her uneasy. Sure, she loved her brother dearly, and he never strayed too far from her mind, but this felt...different in some way. Something had changed, and she had no way of knowing if it was paranoia talking, or that something was genuinely wrong. She wouldn't be able to talk with him anyways, since this land continued to see fit that they would be separate. Her heart sank as she threw the next piece of bait at the Bear, confident that it would do its work, but lost in her own mind.

  • Both girls struck the bear as it struggled to maul Hemlocke against the glowing horns of the golden gloomrabbit, and the bear seemed to be losing a bit of its will to fight. Hemlocke flourished her hand, a small ball of blue light coalescing into being in her palm. Rolling that light through her fingers deftly, she took an amount of satisfaction in her craft before flicking the light toward the bear, hoping that together they could finish it off, and she began assuming that her break was basically started at this point. Between Glimmer and Anna-Mia, this ursine menace was sure to be well-handled. Counting her chickens well before they hatched, Hemlocke actually closed her spellbook and took a deep breath.

    It seemed that this particular Bear wasn't keen on going down without a fight, but Anna-Mia and Glimmer knew better than to let this cuddly victim do as it pleased. Glimmer was ready as ever to defend the people under her care, as Anna-Mia cocked back what felt like would be the final throw. This was largely for the best, as she was really worried about Rota's condition at this point. She had never felt like this about him before, so even a slight wavering in her faith in him was like an earthquake on a glass pane. First things first though, she would need to take stock of the hearts she had obtained, and refine the ones necessary. She would settle for nothing but the best for the baby to be, no exceptions. Her big brother was leaving her in the dust, and she had no appreciation for it. He had told her that a possible clue to the location of the rest of her family's location would be in the alternate dungeon of this floor, but that it was a difficult place to not only GET to, but BE in. She had to be able to get in there and survive with her companion, alone if she had to.
