This was literally the most gruling task she had done in her life. Well, whatever her life was. Stairs, stairs, some more stairs, and hey look! More stairs. Her legs were throbbing in the worst way, but she couldn't stop. Stopping would mean failing and giving up. And that was unacceptable. Just a little further he tried to reassure himself that he was almost there even when he couldn't see an end in sight. To just keep the hope a little longer as he pressed on.

Spinar left out a soundless relieved sigh when he saw the exit. Rushing up the last few steps he exited to the next section of the tower, again the hope of seeing her flickered back to mind and had his fist clenching determinedly at his side.

The Voice was loud in his ears as he stepped upwards. Strange, it seemed to sound weaker than before. It called on him to remember his Kingdom, but all Elliot remembered was that it was a fake.

She couldn't stop - she wouldn't stop. Not until she reached the top, and she was so very close. More silents steps and unheard breaths resounded in the airwaves, but they were useless and hollow - like the world they'd been trapped in.

The act of stepping upwards was not tiring in itself. It was the monotony of the movement that made Elliot tired. Whisper stopped for a moment to catch her breath. Her strength was coming in spurts, which she would have much rather had it more consistent. She still had so much further to go, and for the first time she really started to wonder if she'd make it. Just push harder she thought. Push harder. The voice was trying to be persuasive. Promises were being made that whisper knew were empty. She didn't want power or royalty or anything. She just wanted the final truth. The Voice's tone seemed to change. It was pleading, begging almost, now. It promised him everything, anything. Elliot closed his eyes. He thought of --- and ---, he thought of summers spent in the sun. He wanted it, he wanted it so badly yet.
