"Clooney! Watch it!" Nero said, and gritted his teeth. "Move, quickly! And retaliate with a bite!" and, so the catscratch pokémon did as he was asked. Clooney pounced with all his might, and tried to twist out of the way of the oncoming vines. As he jumped, he dodged the left assailant, but the right vine moved quickly into place, striking his ribcage with ample force.

"You're okay! You're okay, just focus Clooney!" Nero said, trying to re-assure his friend that they stood a chance. "Now, then! Bite that sucker!" Nero said.

Clooney searched for a place to land his maw, but was unsure where the most critical areas on such a strange thing were... No matter, teeth are teeth! And it's just made of plants! Clooney charged up to Tangelo, jumping and attempted to land a mouthful of teeth onto what he'd suspected was the top of its skull, if it even had one...

Mia grinned, really getting into the groove of the battle. Nero seemed like he had some spunk and definitely courage and a will to battle. "Well, let's show him how it's done!" she shouted, watching the Meowth charge forward, jaws open, teeth shining white. The cat Pokemon sure looked as if he had some confidence behind those teeth and a look that almost mirrored defiance in his eyes.

"Take the hit Tangelo!" Mia shouted, running several different options in her head. It was a good chance to opt for the use of a status affect. Jello did have Sleep Powder and Poisonpowder in her arsenal, but Mia opted to use neither. Constrict, that'll do, she thought settling on an attack. Staying on the offensive was a good strategy too!

Clooney's jaws sank into Jello's vines, hitting an area just above her eyes. Geez! It was like taking a pair of scissors to her vines! The sharp teeth punctured her vines, ripping and shredding them in places. "Now Jello! Constrict!" Miyamaru shouted. Nodding as best as she could, it was a bit difficult with a cat hanging off her head, Jello threw up a handful of free vines, curling them inwards, trying to wrap and pry Clooney off of herself.

Watching intently, Nero pushed up his glasses with his right middle and ringfinger. Clooney, squirming around in Jello's grasping vines, meowing his head off. Nero perused the options available... He only knew Scratch, Bite, and Growl... Growling wouldn't do much right now... Biting might work, but then, Clooney just performed one of those... Scratching wasn't possible, his paws constricted and tied down... "... Try another bite! Chew your way out, Clooney!" Nero suggested.

Clooney glared at the boy... Yeah.. I'll get right on that, idiot. Right after I figure out how to move!' Clooney thought, struggling to get enough of the vines away from his shoulders to properly position his neck. Though, Clooney felt like focusing on trying to get free, instead of listening to the comand..

"Clooney..?" Nero tilted his head, wondering what was going on. ".... Crud. He's ignored me... again." Nero said, sounding dejected and depressed. "Come on, Clooney... Please..?" He said, pleading his pokémon to listen to him..

Mia was right. Clooney and Nero hadn't been a together for very long, and judging by the Pokemon's defiant behavior, they'd probably only been together for a very short time. It was no wonder that his Pokemon wasn't obeying orders, they'd yet to establish that special connection a trainer develops with his or her Pokemon. But that wasn't going to stop Mia from battling. The Pokemon's squirming and jerking around was really making it difficult for Mia's Tangela to maintain it's grip. The Pokemon would no doubt break loose given enough time.

"Okay Jello! Let's get that cat off you, eh? Vine Whip!" she commanded, her voice ringing with a similar authority Crasher Wake had in his own commands. Like father like daughter.

Jello nodded, releasing her grip on the opponent before bringing a rather solid looking and uninjured vine to knock off the Pokemon. There wasn't too much force behind it, the angle was too awkward for that, but she managed as best as she could to remove the nuisance from her noggin. Or maybe her whole body was a just a head, no one really knew what lied beneath though blue-green vines of hers.

Clooney squinted his eyes, as he was swatted by the Vinewhip attack, skidding back a few feet.. "Clooney! Come on, boy! I'm telling you, I'm only trying to help you to survive! Try for a scratch! You've got to fight..." Nero said, hoping that he'd listen this time..

Clooney looked back at the strange boy, with his shiney glasses, and bright, square beltbuckle glinting a faint silver from the sun's rays... "...Mao..." it called, and flicked its claws out. Then, with a fearsome glare, Clooney looked toward that living scratchingpost called Tangelo. "....Rrrrr...." he growled, and ran at it, claws extended and slashed at it in 3 successive swipes..

"Alright! That's the way! Show 'em how it's done in Vermillion!"
PostPosted: Sat Feb 27, 2010 6:11 pm

Strange, odd noises erupted from Jello as she backed away from the cat's paws, managing to dodge the last and final swipe. The sharp claws had torn at her lovely blue-green vines, the vines that she and Mia, and in the past now long gone Mia's mother, had nourished and taken care of so carefully. They would grow back and heal, of course, but still! How terrible!

"One more time!" Mia shouted. Jello was much more experienced in a battle than Clooney. Surely this would be the end, or if not, at least very close. Ah, ah, ah! Mia chuckled catching herself, one shouldn't underestimate an opponent. It was one of the lessons her father had taught her when she was younger and new to the whole battling scene. "Vine Whip!" she commanded, her voice filled with confidence.

Jello nodded, more than happy to give the Pokemon a good whack of two with her other vines. She had so many it didn't really matter if those few were damaged for not. It was just by principal that she took care of them so carefully. Planting her feet, which looked as if they were outfitted with cute, little red boots, she launched two more vines at the Catscratch Pokemon with as much force and speed as she could muster. They raced along, headed for their target: Clooney.

Nero gritted his teeth, thinking as quickly as he could for a counter strategy... "Clooney! Dodge, and try for a Bite!" He said, and hoped that Clooney had enough in him to stand up after this turn of the battle.. If not, he knew what he had to do.

Clooney, sick and tired of those vine-things, stood in wait for a split second, waiting for the vines to close in. That would be the right time to jump... A gleam in his eye, Clooney attempted to jump out of the way, and retaliate accordingly. However, he jumped too late, and one of the vines hit his left back leg and the other, his right front paw.

The catscratch pokémon cried out in pain, landing back first, on the dirt and gravel, tumbling a foot or so before coming to a complete stop.. "Clooney! Are you okay?!" Nero gasped, and ran up to his companion to check...

Clooney wasn't doing too well. He had cuts, was barely conscious, and wasn't moving... "Forfeit! I forfeit... Clooney can't go on anymore... You've won." Nero said, gently petting his friend's head... "You did good... You've earned a rest, and some Pokémon Snacks..." he said...

Leon looked over at Calvin as the boy had yet to say anything and saw that he appeared to be thinking, more specifically trying to remember something. Finally he addressed his Pokémon. ”Mom said you got a special moved when you hatched, Zigzagoon. Can you use it?” Zigzagoon tilted his head and look at Calvin, confused. The boy began thinking again, trying to recall the name of the attack. Leon was not particularly interested in what this move was, and simply wanted Calvin to do something so they could get on with it.

Finally, he seemed to remember, as his face brightened and he spoke up.
”Pursuit! Zigzagoon use Pursuit!” Zigzagoon complied easily and sped at Ghos while glowing a dark purple colour, the one hundred percent accuracy of the attack leaving no hope for him to dodge it, and the super effective move hit dead on.

Both Leon and Ghos (though Ghos more so) were surprised when Zigzagoon did not go right through the Gas Pokémon, and Ghos was sent flying backwards a bit. He floated around dazed for a short moment. That really hurt! He was used to not feeling a thing, which probably made it seem even worse. ”You’re alright, Ghos. You can take a hit. Use Will-o-wisp now,” Leon commanded coolly. Ghost floated to the side uncertainly for a moment, still a bit in shock that he’d been hit. Leon was about to speak up again when Ghos decided that he wanted to get revenge on the Zigzagoon and sent out the oddly coloured balls of fire floating towards him.

Wow. That was all Mia could think as soon as Nero shouted "Forfeit!" The kid, well actually he looked quite a few years older than Mia herself, sure couldn't handle losses very well. Or maybe the sight of his nearly fainted Pokemon was just too much for him. It took guts to be a trainer, having to frequently watch your Pokemon get trashed or taking a beating, even a few attacks or so could be hard on the average person. It was one of the first lessons that her father and mother had taught her. One needed strength and faith in their Pokemon to be a trainer. That was probably why not everyone was a trainer. It was probably why her mother wasn't a trainer.

"Hey, hey take it easy. There's a Pokemon Center right there," Mia pointed out, waving her hand to the red roofed building only a few feet away. "Your Pokemon will be all right, just some battle scars right?" she replied with a smile. Turning her attention away from the green haired boy and his Pokemon, she directed her attention to Jello.

Skipping a few times to close the distance between herself and her Pokemon Mia crouched down to get eye level with the Tangela. Even then she was still a bit taller than the Pokemon. "High five!" Mia laughed, sticking her hand up in the air. Jello made some presumably happy noises before slapping her outstretched palm with a healthy vine. "You did great!" she cheered, giving the plant a big hug.

Keegan could only lie there helplessly and watch as the two girls made their preparations for whatever it was they were planning to do. He wanted nothing more than to get out of here and have a smoke, and not even necessarily in that order. He struggled uselessly against his bonds, growing more and more certain that whatever it was that was going to happen, he wasn't going to enjoy it. He glanced over at Kasiya, craning his neck to try and see what she was busily writing on her clipboard, though when she saw him she pulled it back, and grinned impishly. "No really," he said again, feeling even more uneasy due to the shakiness in his voice. "What are you two up to? You're freaking me out."

"You forgot already?" she asked incredulously, shaking her head at him. "You've been needing to get this done for forever. Don't tell me you're chickening out on me!"

"Needing to get what done?" he asked again, more flustered. "And no, I'm not chickening out!"

"That's only because you're tied down," came a third female voice from the doorway. "Otherwise you'd be out of here faster than a Pidgeot in a hurricane." The two younger girls stepped aside as Mai entered the room, arms, one arm resting neatly across her abdomen, the other hanging motionless at her side. Unlike Sasha and Kasiya, her uniform was looking very professional, and even though she too looked way too happy to be here, Keegan felt a shudder go through him at the sight of her. "Alright, we're ready here," she said, nodding to the two girls. She held a syringe of some sorts in her hand, and looked towards the redhead, still wearing that creepy smile.

"No, no! Now wait just a second! Can't we discuss this some more? Stop!" Keegan protested, trying his damnedest to wriggle free, his pleas falling on deaf ears as Mai plunged the needle deep into his arm. He closed his eyes, unsure of what to expect as the unknown drug began to traverse his system.

Miharu hadn't been expecting to see a Poliwrath; she'd been sure Chuck would have sent out Hitmonchan, or Hitmonlee, possibly even Hitmontop. The water and fighting type Pokemon looked tough and focused, reacting quickly after Chuck had called for a Bubblebeam. Miharu wasn't sure how much more Tingle could take, and she didn't want to relinquish her lead already. "Dodge," she called out quickly, once again amazed by how quickly the Metang complied with her commands. The steel and psychic type floated up and back, moving continually to avoid the constant stream of bubbles being fired by the Poliwrath. Miharu knew she couldn't attack until the tadpole let up, either, so right now it was an evasive game, at least until Chuck decided to try something else.

Chuck grit his teeth as he watched the Metang hover safely out of the way of Poliwrath's Bubblebeam, suddenly wondering if he'd underestimated his opponent. The Metang was proving to be tougher than he imagined and at the moment, he wasn't sure how he was going to defeat it. Of course, he thought suddenly, narrowing his eyes at the floating Pokemon. Steel type... He looked to his Poliwrath and nodded. "Poliwrath, it's time for you to use Mud Shot!"

The tadpole nodded and stepped forward. The spirals decorating his belly began to glow a little, and then from the center a stream of mud was sent out, aimed directly at Tingle. That ought to slow him down a little, Chuck thought with a grin. We can still win this!

'Smart move to lead off with,' Jaden thought, looking at each of the five Kirlia in turn. Slowbro was still gazing at them sleepily, somewhat oblivious to the fact that he was now in an actual battle. Jaden thought for a moment, unsure of what he should do. "Let's go with a Water gun," he said, nodding. "See if we get lucky." The dopey looking Pokemon yawned once more and glanced around, picking a target at random before rearing back and sending out a jet of cool water.

Riza couldn't help but worry about Yula getting hit even though there was only a one in five chance of it happening. Luck would be on her side this time though and the Water gun passed right through one of Yula's copies, keeping her safe for the time being. "Okay Yula, now use Calm Mind," she said, deciding to keep the Kirlia's best moves a secret for now. Nodding, the four remaining Kirlia all focused their minds to boost their special abilities, their actions in unison and hopefully enough to keep the real Yula hidden.

The battle was over very quickly. Nero and Clooney put up a good showing but it was obvious that Mia and her Tangela had the upper hand, and Katie winced as the Meowth hit the ground. She felt bad for Nero, and the cat Pokemon as well. She remembered well her first few battles with Genki, and how hard it had been whenever she'd see him take a fall. It was something that did get easier to deal with over time, but she knew it would never not bother her, at least on some level. The repairs on her skirt had been completed as quickly as she imagined, and as she admired her work she smiled. It would be hard for anyone to tell it had even been torn unless they looked very closely. She tied and snipped off the extra before putting away her things, looking up in time to see Mia hugging her Tangela. She looked over at her Monferno, who was watching Nero with his Pokemon, and possibly reminiscing about his own early days with his trainer. He and Katie hadn't always gotten along in the beginning, but after those rough first few days, things had definitely gotten better and he really hoped that the same would happen for Nero and Clooney.

"So what now, Genki?" Katie asked the Monferno quietly, scratching the monkey Pokemon under the chin. Genki cooed and closed his eyes, shrugging. Katie sighed, and stood up, smoothing the creases out of the pleats of her skirt. "I guess we should keep moving. Eterna City awaits us," she said, already thinking about possible strategies for her next gym battle.

Kasiya was happy to hear that Serenity liked the idea of training together, and she didn't argue at all about just spending the trip relaxing. The last few days had been horribly draining both physically and emotionally, and she groaned a little as she leaned back in her chair, flexing her still-healing shoulder. Though she knew fully well she could have gone down to the battle arena on her own she decided against it, knowing that she needed the rest more than the battle practice. She also remained in the same place, getting up only to get a drink or some food, or to stretch her legs. Her Pokemon seemed to enjoy the downtime as well, and before long Kasiya had let her other Pokemon out to mingle as well, though she couldn't help but notice how clingy Nova was acting.

Long after Serenity and George and all the other trainers had gone to find their room for the night, Kasiya remained by the pool, staring up at the stars overhead. She'd changed back into her regular clothes now though she was still in need of a new outfit, and only Twilight remained out of his Pokeball, resting with his paws in her lap. The pale blue rings decorating his body shimmered in the moonlight as trainer and Pokemon enjoyed the quiet of the night. Kasiya was flipping through the new entries in her PokeDex, though the page was currently stopped on the Sinnoh Region starter Pokemon. All three of them were very cute and Kasiya wondered how difficult it would be to obtain a Piplup of her very own. It wasn't likely that she could get one from Professor Rowan, as he would only give Pokemon to new trainers. She smiled and closed the device, letting her hand rest on the Umbreon's head as she closed her eyes. I shouldn't be thinking about getting new Pokemon until I get Shocker back, she thought, tears stinging the corners of her eyes. And I will get her back, I swear it. She wiped the tears from her eyes and stood up, Twilight on her heels. She walked over to the railing and peered down at the water below, only able to see the reflection of the stars and Twilight's glowing, amber eyes. She sighed, and turned to head inside the cabin, ready to turn in for the night. Things will be better in Sinnoh, she told herself over and over again, though no matter how many times she did so, she still didn't believe it.

Cynthia smiled at Jason as he announced the name he'd chosen for his newly-captured Mantyke. "Poseidon's a very good name," she said approvingly. "And yes, he's a Mantyke, the pre-evolved form of Mantine, so he is a Water and Flying-type," she said knowledgeably. "Since your PokeDex had nothing on him, I suggest you visit Professor Rowan in Sandgem Town and seeing about getting it updated. Once cannot traverse Sinnoh without such a valuable tool," she added. She gave Jason a bit more information about his new Pokemon, namely the attacks he should probably already know. She also told him about the boat tours organized in Sinnoh for tourists to see groups of Mantyke playing in the waves alongside schools of Remoraid, which of course, were key in their evolution, but she left that part out, figuring an inquisitive mind like Jason's would love to discover that on his own. They talked for quite some time before Cynthia bid the young man farewell, knowing that it was getting pretty late. She retired to her suite and readied herself for bed, quite surprised at how excited she was to be returning to her home region.

The sun shined in the window and woke Sere up long before she actually wanted to be up. Though it wasn't late when she had decided to go to bed, that didn't mean that she wanted to be up the moment the sun came up. It was summer time and the sun came up long before any normal human being would be up in the real world. Unless you were something rediculous, like a doctor or a crazy person.

As she swung her feet over the edge of the bed she noticed that George was already awake. He had taken a stance over by the window and was looing out over the deck at the other trainers that were up. Serenity wondered how many of the trainers actually decided to stay up the whole night and party. She also wondered how much longer the trip to Sinnoh was going to take. She was starting to get a bit edgy about how long she had been on a boat full of people. Thought it was nice that her and Kasiya had bonded some through out the evening.

George was staring at the other trainers that were already up with their pokemon and was wondering if it was really a benefit to be up so early training. It seemed to him that at this point not allowing Sere to get her sleep in the morning wouldn't be very good for either of them. He wanted to make sure that she was well rested and able to handle any of the challenges that they might face when they are in the new region. Though he also thought to himself that he wanted to become big and strong the way that Levi had become. He couldn't wait to be able to take care of Sere the way that she was watching out over them.

He was also starting to think about the teammates that he hadn't really worked with before. Especially the giant Lapras that Sere had just gotten. He really wanted to start to train with her. He had a feeling that him and the Lapras would be of great help to anything that Sere would take on.

Serenity walked over to George and gave him a little kiss on the top of his head.

"Want to go out and see if we can see this new land yet?" She offered the pokemon her hand.

"Marsh Marsh!" George nodded and put his hand in hers, so the two of them could make there way out to the deck.

Isabelle rolled over and ended up getting a face full of feathers. It caused her to sit up and start coughing, which woke up the three very roudy pokemon. She took a deep breath and wondered which one of them would be in a bad mood this morning. Isabelle was shocked when she noticed that all three of them had managed to pile up on eachother during the night. She was more shocked when the three of them just started playfully shoving eachother instead of attacking each other. 'Maybe these three can work together after all. You know, if they don't manage to bring the town down upon all of us.'

She got up and left them to play on the bed, unwilling to break the bonding up that is happening right now. On the other hand she wasn't entirely sure that she wanted to see what was going to happen if she let them continue the way that they were going. Once in front of the mirror she fixed her long red hair so that it covered the gash that was on the side of the head.

It was a morning of surprises, because when she got out of the bathroom Euri, Frank and Sweetness were all sitting on the bed talkign with eachother. It actually made her a bit nervous.

"Do you three think you can play nice enough to last through breakfast?" She asked sitting on the bed next to them. Instantly she was bombarded by the three of them in a giant pokemon hug. She giggled and kissed all of them on the top of the head. "Not that I don't love, the love, that is not an answer to the question."

The three of them got off the bed and lined up and gave their trainer a salute.

"Alright then. Lets go get ourselves some food shall we?" And she marched the three of them out.

Perhaps it was due to her extreme tiredness lingering from the days before, or maybe it was the gentle rocking of the ship but Kasiya actually slept rather well, and woke up feeling better than she had in what seemed like a long time. She rolled over onto her side and breathed in deeply, realizing that Twilight had stayed right by her side the entire night. She sat up and petted the Umbreon, who was still sound asleep. "Did you watch over me all night?" she asked quietly. He didn't stir, so she got out of bed and recalled him into his Pokeball before getting dressed. It was still somewhat early, but the sun was up over the horizon, and it looked like it was going to be a beautiful day. I wonder if the weather will be this nice in Sinnoh, she thought, deciding that she wanted some company since Twilight was still asleep, so she let Flash out of his ball. The Jolteon stretched and looked up at his trainer expectantly, and Kasiya knelt down and scratched him
behind the ear. "I wonder how much further it is," she said, standing up.

She gathered her things and left the room, a little surprised to see that quite a few people had already woken up, though on closer inspection she realized that in fact most of the ones who were already up hadn't actually gone to bed, and had presumably spent the night partying. "Whatever makes you happy, I suppose," she murmured, looking around to see if any of her friends were up yet. Flash stayed loyally at her side, eying the still-partying passengers warily and deciding then that if any of them got too close to Kasiya, he'd zap them into the middle of next week.

The duo continued to study the faces of the many trainers around, and Kasiya was a bit surprised when the first familiar face she saw was that of Serenity. She and her Marshtomp had seemingly just come down from their room as well, and Kasiya smiled down at Flash before they headed towards the smaller girl. "Good morning," Kasiya said cheerfully once they'd reached her friend. "Did you guys sleep well?"
