Celeborn nodded over at the kids. "Shall we take them back to Celebor?" he suggested. "We have no more business with this man ... unless you have yet to loot the others."

"I'll do that quickly," Donovan murmured, "I'll be with you in a second."
He would rather, he mused as he moved to do the usual, have this done and over with as quick as possible. The sooner they could leave the better they would be.

Celeborn nodded and headed over to the children once again, getting names, checking to make sure they were all right, all in all re-calming them and preparing them for the trip back to where Celebor would still be waiting for them.

He went only for the gold, he didn't want to go lagging back weapons and unlike the first time he had done this he had no interest in any of the supplies. Besides he promised it to the other man. Taking the ladled bags he shoved them into the special bag he carried with him always.
Quietly he made his way back to the others.

When Donovan came near the group of children, several of them cringed away from him, but Celeborn had warned them of the man's role in their rescue, so while they were wary of him, they knew he was no slaver.
That didn't mean they would be warm towards him.
"We should get them back," Celeborn said softly to Donovan, picking up some of the smaller children and carrying them in his arms. "The sooner the better ... without rushing them."

Donovan nodded, "Yea, that way they can actually rest."
Since until they got there the children would have to walk unfortunately. At least... they shouldn't be too far. He didn't move to pick any of them up, they probably wouldn't feel comfortable being held by him anyhow.

It was long past dark by the time they made it back to Celebor and the other children, and though the two children that Celeborn was carrying had both fallen asleep, the others were straggling along as best they could. Three of them were holding onto the tail of Celeborn's tunic, as if afraid to let him go, while the last one was trailing along behind the rest.
All in all, it was a rather ragged group that finally joined Celebor and the first two children that they had rescued.

Celebor had a small fire going for the two children he had been watching for the past day, and both of them were laying next to it, fast asleep. He was sitting with his back to the fire, and when he heard Donovan and Celeborn approaching with the rest of the children, he moved into the shadows to watch their approach - just to make sure it was actually them before allowing them to get too close.
When he saw Donovan and Celeborn, he relaxed his guard and lowered his sword, then sheathed it at his side.
"I'm glad you're back," he murmured softly, sitting by the fire again. "It's ..."
He paused. He wanted to say that he had been rather uneasy on his own with the children for so long - after all, he didn't know this world, not nearly as well as he needed to, ideally, or the dangers of it ... but at the same time, he couldn't quite bring himself to say it. Whether he was too proud, too ashamed, or just too tired, he wasn't sure, but he couldn't say it.
"I'm glad you're back," he repeated simply.

"Thanks," Donovan murmured, "Did things go fine while we were gone? How are the other two doing?"
He was just glad to be back at camp, it had been a long day frankly.

Celebor nodded and smiled faintly, though it was forced and strained.
"Things were fine," he assured Donovan softly. "I ... think I was a little jumpy though ... first time alone and all that ..."
He looked up at Donovan. "The kids took the opportunity to wash," he told him, nodding towards the very nearby river.

"That's good," Donovan commented studying Celebor for a moment before settling in.
It was probably just a stressful day for the him, Donovan thought and it wasn't like Celebor had been left alone like that before. Not that he knew of anyhow.

Another week later, the three fighters (of which Celebor was now also classified as one) rode into the ranch once more, the eight children in the back of the cart driven by Celeborn.
Celebor had never been so happy to see a place in his life. One of the biggest lessons he had learned about his trip - besides what it felt like to kill a person - was that he needed more training, both for the forest setting as well as guarding. After all, fighting and guarding were two different things entirely.
As they came to a stop next to the stone porch of the ranch house, he slid off his horse and headed back to the cart to help unload the children.
Another thing he needed to work on, he noted, was endurance. After three weeks out, he was exhausted, and though he knew there was lots of work to do, he wanted nothing more than to just sleep for two days straight.

As they began to unload the first of the children, the door to the house burst open and Arwen darted outside.
"They're home they're home they're home!" she shouted gleefully, bouncing up and down next to the cart. "Lots of kids here to take care of, lots of new friends to make!"
She had a unique way of looking at the situation.

Lin poked her head out of the door, very much use to this scene that laid before her. Though she found Arwen had a very hyper way of looking at things.
"Arwen, you're going to scare them," Lin told her.
Donovan shook his head as he dismounted to help as much as he could before he got pounced on.
"One... two...." he murmured to himself.

Kara rushed out, hugging Donovan with out stretched arms. Her feathers ruffled contently as if she was trying to shake water off her wings as she held onto his back side.
"Welcome back," she murmured.
