((Is still bottle fire. But hot now.))
"Alright," Moria responded, taking the time to grab her sword where it had fallen from Hyn's armor. She sheathed it as she came to the chimney, then wedged herself in and began the slow ascent.
Meanwhile, the fire was spreading from the center and edges of the room. It spread with average fire speed, and with the treated wood, it couldn't consume it all too quickly, but it was advancing, and time was running short.
((Hrm. A wood building... in a tree... on fire. A giant tree, no less. 0.o This is way worse than I thought it was. Haha. Awesome.))
"Don't forget. Our lives are linked," Arryl reminded her. "If things go downhill for me, I'm going to grab you and carry you into the lava with me. Then we'll both be dead, but you won't be getting away with killing me.
"And there's no point in believing I won't kill you with me because your life is too valuable. Your life is only important to me as long as I live. So make up your mind. Guide me well, or die with me, because we're going forward some time.

Sheik didn't wait for Link's response; instead he pulled out a nondescript glass jar filled with what looked like water, simultaneously unwinding the white cloth that obscured most of his face. The features revealed were delicate, borderline feminine, but definitely not Zelda's, though the expression was a somewhat familiar one of intense composure. He opened the bottle, pored the contents over the cloth, soaking it, and deftly wound it around his right hand. He then transfered the bottle to the wrapped hand, scooped up some intensely hot red fire, then re-corked the bottle and sprinted after Moria, trying hard to ignore the fire licking at his feet and lower legs.
((Yay! Our Sophia has returned! We missed you! Ha ha, she's immune to lava, right? Poor Arryl! Her job is way too hard.))

((Oh, good. Now I have someone to interact with again. Three cheers for Sierra!))
Artanis stood before the King, gaging the expression on his face; the old man didn't look like one on the edge of a nervous breakdown, so he continued. "If you agree to my proposition, everyone wins. You get to have two Sheikah guarding you, and I get my uncle to watch my back when I can't. I would travel to Kakoriko, but I honestly doubt I would make it there without being abducted."
The King looked thoughtful, and more than a little uneasy. "But you say that these women are doing this at Lord Gannondorf's command. Would this not be a direct slight against him?"
Artanis snorted. "He shouldn't be doing this. It was not a part of any of the treaties you negotiated. Even if it were, I am the official protector of your daughter's life; as such he has no right to place a kidnapper on my trail when I have done nothing to him."
The King shook his head. "Legally you are correct, but I doubt that any resulting acts of retribution would be official." He sighed, reaching up to massage his temples. "But any help I can give my daughter is worth it. If I can spare her from having to rescue one Sage..."
"Good," said Artanis briskly, "We agree. I will report for my shift once I've had some sleep. Uncle," he added, nodding respectfully to a seemingly empty corner of the room. With that, he sat down and leaned against the wall. The red eyes slid shut almost at once, and he was asleep within seconds.

((Thanks for the warm welcome back. And as for Sofia, yes, she IS immune to lava))
Sofia smirked.
"Don't believe even for a second that just because I look like a Hylian, that I am. Yeah, don't be surprised. I am a child of the Gorons, and as such... lava doesn't harm me. I have the endurance of a Goron. Even if you tossed me into the heart of Death Mountain, I would survive. So, don't make me laugh with your threats. If anything, I'm a threat to you," she practically spat, knowing in her mind that she was exaggerating a bit concerning Death Mountain. True, she would last longer than a regular human, even if they were wearing the tunic of the Hero of Time that allowed the wearer to survive massive heat, but she would never last as long as a Goron.

Though shocked by the news of the sheikah being the Princess and all that it would imply, considering that he was fairly certain this was a male Sheikah, Link simply sighed and followed after the two up the chimney. As he climbed, he could feel the flames licking at his boots. Wherever thy were heading, they better get there soon.

"Okay. Then you're going to make me hurt you again?" Arryl returned. "Child of the Gorons or not, you have the stomach of a pure-blood Hylian, and I know from years of experience that the stomach of a Hylian is extremely vulnerable. You're unarmed, untrained, and trying to show up a woman who is neither of those things." Arryl seemed to have lost some restraint; the sword in her hand was twitching. "But it really doesn't matter, does it? You've made it excessively clear you're not going to come easily, so I might as well kill you where you stand." Arryl stepped towards Sofia again, her eyes fixed upon the child, dancing slightly but without decided emotion. It gave her an appearance of utter insanity being held back by only a thread. Quickly, she flicked her blade up to the girl's throat. "So we're back to square one, except this time I'm losing my mind. Do you want to test me?"

Sofia, while feigning cockiness on the outside, knew on the inside that what Arryl was saying was right, so she decided to change her strategy. Changing her tone, she started to act scared.
"Okay, let me go, and I'll lead you through a safe path. Although I haven't been up the mountain this high in a while, so I can't guarentee that I will remember every hot spot," she said quietly, her eyes flicking up towards the sky, watching for flying rocks.

((Alright, my motherboard has been replaced. We're good.))
Moria hopped out of the top of the building. They were still on a massive branch, but now they were extremely close to the trunk. As such, Moria could see a long series of ladder rungs bolted into the bark of the tree. Calling down the chimney, she cried, "There's a ladder higher up. We should probably try that."
Arryl narrowed her eyes. Was it that easy? Then she relaxed. The girl could see there was a sword in Arryl's hand, and she'd decided it wasn't worth the risk. Thank goodness. That had been way too difficult. Slowly she let the blade fall, but she kept her hand on it. "Good. Get moving, then."

Sheik climbed out after her, then moved to inspect the ladder. He couldn't see any evidence of a trick, so he stood back. This was, after all, Link's party. He was just there to facilitate. If Link wasn't up the ladder yet, then he wasn't going up, either.

"Please hurry," Moria shouted to Link. The shingles were beginning to burn, and it seemed that the larger the fire got, the hotter it got. They probably had seconds to get onto the ladder.

Link could feel the flames licking his boots and quickly squirmed his way out of the hole, followed closely by a yellow fairy. Upon emerging, the boy did not speak a word, instead he quickly followed behind his companions over to the ladder.

As Sheik climbed, he examined the implications of the arrival of this newest danger; it kept his mind off of how little time he had to get up the damn ladder. The fact that a forest spirit had been willing to use fire suggested the thing was dangerously unstable, in addition to everything else. Perfect.

The ladder was ascended quickly, but the problem made itself apparent. Now the fire was spreading up and down the tree, chasing them. It was moving more slowly; the tree's solid bark and great size slowed it down significantly, but they still only had so long before the tree gave out or some other disaster struck. The tree needed to be left, and the temple perhaps even abandoned. If there was going to be a final fight, it would need to occur soon.
At the top of the ladder, the trio passed through a large branch, coming out on another remarkably flat one. This time, though, it divided quickly as it went further away, becoming a mazelike series of thinner branches. Which ones would hold weight was unapparent. Moria, bringing up the rear on the ladder, came out and shook her head. "It just doesn't get easier, does it?" she asked, forlornly.
