"Fine. But if I get one scratch on this damn bird because you decided to agitate the waters prematurely, and disavow the rules of engaugement, I'm not defending you at the court martial." Orrin said.
"Its just like poking a bleedin' Gundark in the eye with a stick. Bet he didn't even know there were rules of engaugement..."

Zendia replied to Azure. "I agree. We can't afford to let the Empire find our new base," She then turned her attention to Orrin. "I'd rather not fight if it can be avoided. However, I don't think the Imps will allow that option." Rusty gave a small hoot of admiration as Zendia's X-wing locked it's foils in attack position.

"Its not that. I just don't see why we have to go pick a fight with them at all. If we move the convoy along fast enough, perhaps we can hide in the nebula. No fight, no detection. Whereas this stunt's going to get us hurt. I can feel it." He said, locking his s-foils.
"If you're going to attack, I suggest speeding up."

"I'm with Orrin on this," Gendis pondered, getting in formation with Kefka but not engaging his S-foils. "'Shoot first, ask questions later' is standard Imperial procedure, but the opposite is true for the Rebellion. Let us at least think this out more, and if they do prove to be a threat, we can engage. However, if they are Imps and have already detected us, Hoth is lost. If they haven't detected us, why risk it?"

"Orrin, if there's going to be a court-martial, it'll be yours, not mine." Kefka said first as he too locked s-foils into position.
"Secondly, do you think we can just hide an entire convoy? I don't want to engage, but if they come any closer, we don't have much of a choice. If they come within one klick of us, we engage." he added exasperatedly as he awaited the approach of the TIEs.

"Break the rules of engaugement. See if I care," Orrin sighed. "As for hiding an entire convoy, we hid an entire base on Polis Massa which hasn't been discovered yet. I mean, a nebula's too small to hide a convoy in, even if it disrupts sensors. Just remember, we all have to file a report on our actions if we encounter enemies. And I'm not the one leading the charge, so the flamethrower's on you." He switched the coms to recieve only, and accelerated at full speed to the target, a diagonal beeline.
Orrin checked his scanners again. "Although I wouldn't put it past some pirates to engauge us either. I mean, we only bought a base off them, so convienently located in this frozen planet. Why not bait a trap for us? But no... that would make way too much sense. I mean, Imperial Star Destroyers just love patrolling the middle of nowhere in space. Heck I'm not alive dodging blasterbolts and hiding warehouses full of junk because I do this. But then again, I'm not in charge."

"Dammit Orrin, I told you pirates don't use TIEs!" Kefka said, slightly glad that his prediction had come through as three TIE fighters swooped in.
"And by the way, they found that base on Pollis Massa. Stand by, wait ffor them to fire."

Orrin swore to himself. "Pirates don't use TIEs. I'm not that stupid. But a sensor only picks up bogeys, it doesn't identify them at that distance. If the barve keeps thinking that all we fight are imperials, he's in for a hella shock when we get hit by pirates"
Orrin opened a link to the mother cruiser, "Tango sighted, Alpha whiskey, please respond."
He'll probably not even get proper authorization to fire....

"Emerald Leader to Home One, we have three Imperial fighters incoming, 1.5 klicks away. Permission to fire if necessary?"
"Affirmative Emerald Leader. Permission to return fire. We'll be slipping into the cloudiest part of the nebula any time now and once we get through we can just lightspeed it to Hoth."
"You heard the commander, get ready" Kefka said as he greened the weapons.

"Tango sighted, Alpha whiskey, please respond." Orrin re-commed.
"Negative, Emerald Twelve. Continue Alpha whiskey counts until futher notified."
One onethousand, two one thousand, three onethousand.
"Tango sighted, Alpha whiskey, please respond."

((wtf...?))
Gendis locked S-foils and warmed up his engines, drawing power from shields to guns. "Whoever they are, they won't be getting out of here in one piece..."

((standard engaugement procedure. before dogfighting, you must first have the bogey in your sights for three seconds. For which, you ask Alpha Whiskey, the procedural code to demand to open hostilities. The command must then grant you affirmation, which then you must call out "fire, fire, fire", which then must be confirmed with an affirmative. This is the code which grants you the right to open fire upon an enemy with unrestricted access, which Orrin is trying to gain. If authority is denied, you must wait three seconds to reaffirm your target, then ask permission again. Until that time, you cannot attack the enemy. In the scenario I presented, Orrin is denied despite constant attempts, due to the controller's desire not to engauge the enemy))
