Anna-Mia's faith in Glimmer remained as resolute as ever as the Bear was yanked to the ground for all of its savagery. Despite being tossed around like one of Anna-Mia's wicker dolls growing up, it was still just mad at Anna-Mia. She had no idea where this hostility was coming from, but she knew the ways to end it. She let Glimmer do her own thing while she pulled back on a piece of bait and let it fly. It occurred to Anna-Mia that eventually she would have to stop trying to tame things and have Glimmer or some other pet actually fight things, but for now she was just riding the wave of happiness. She couldn't just focus on the taming aspect forever, eventually she needed to learn how to fight.

Hemlocke watched as the bear became even more disoriented. The shyft was not going to be much more help at this point; it seemed like just about anything would take care of this fight for them. She trusted the task to Anna-Mia and began gathering blue light from the world around her, planning to use that power in the next fight. If they didn't waste too much time, she'd be able to enter the next battle without losing any charge, so in this case she was actually able to prepare for the immediate future. With her hand still on the talisman, Hemlocke switched her focus and the crimson aura around her began to shift and become a rich, deep blue. She made sure to keep an ear out for the bear, but she primarily focused on channeling natural light into her reserves.

Anna-Mia had thrown what felt like what would be the final piece of bait...and then the bear stayed firmly in place. Despite this, Anna-Mia felt compelled to throw one last piece of bait twoards this Bear. it had apparenty earned it. While it was meekly swinging at Hemlocke, Anna-Mia still maintained that Glimmer should redirect the attack. not because it would actually HARM Hemlocke, but because any attack was worth reflecting. It was the intent that counts. Anna-Mia half-heartedly lobbed a piece of bait in the Bear's direction, knowing full well that she didn't need to give this her all.

Hemlocke watched as the bear drunkenly pawed at her, and Glimmer dutifully intercepted the blow, knocking what was more of a futile attempt at shooing an insect than an expression of intent to do harm. The witch smile as another piece of bait lobbed into view, hit the bear and finally putting it down for the count, allowing it to fall to rest and disintegrate into a heart like a hollow egg crumbling in on itself. Hemlocke had finally gathered enough energy to cast every spell that she had in her repertoire, too, so she would be able to really go at it when they got to the next bear, which, given the relative ease with which they stumbled upon this one, would probably not be all too long in coming. Hemlocke decided to lightcast the Lucent Sapphire at the next enemy she saw, regardless, and began to prepare herself mentally for it.

While the previous bear was dealt with handily, Anna-Mia began focusing on the newcomer. While she would have liked to establish a strong foot forward at the start, the Bear seemed to be coming in fairly hostile. She ordered Glimmer to Clash of Horns again, and settled on throwing a piece of bait with all of her compassion. It wasn't the strong showing she wanted to start off on, but it was something at the very least. Anna-Mia kept herself spry, feeling like she was getting used to how the Boar armor felt. It wouldn't have been her first choice of equipment, but she felt at home in it regardless. With all of the resources at her disposal, she knew that she and Hemlocke could face any challenge that they were presented with. ESPECIALLY once she had enough Bear hearts.

Name: Gotef Level:1 HP:20/20 AP: LP: Quest: That's not a Knife
Gotef found herself in a place that was unfamiliar to her. Good, then it worked. I just hope those at home can understand. The Giantess adjusted her glasses and walked along. She had heard in legends that despite the abilities of the person who walked into the realm that the Tower's aether makes everything function differently. She pulls a guidebook written by the few who had lived in the tower and either found a way out or just lived long enough to know the world inside and out ((the astute would know this as a player's manual/strategy guide)). She flips through the pages, filling her brain with whatever useful information she can absorb when she comes across guides for cooking within the Tower. This excites the Giantess more than most would think the 10' woman would be, and she dashes off to the Weaponsmith to make a Skinning Knife.
She finds all of the available materials: A good piece of Iron, a sheet of leather for a grip, etc. This is more of a means to an end for Gotef. Working metal is not really a pursuit of hers, rather someone she associated with from her own world. No, doing this will allow her to gain the precious materials from the world and turn them into Decadent Delacacies that would excite the pallets of food snobs and rough cut warriors alike. In Her mind, both tastes in food need to be held to the same standard. She holds the Skinning knife comfortably in her hand, the size of which would be a fairly sized Dagger/Dirk to most, and walks out of the forge house satisfied with the way she has started her time in The Gloomwood.
(unassisted harvest roll for wood)) Name: Gotef Level:1 HP:20/20 AP: LP: Quest: Get Wood 0 Gloom Wood 0 Gloom Sap 0 Gloom Grubs 0 Gloom Acorns
The next stop on the Giantess' way to cooking glory was the resident cook himself. Evidently, he needed some wood for his fire first and Gotef was mre than happy to oblige. She grabbed the axe like one would pick up a hatchet, and proceeded to head out into the woods. She did her level best to stay within safe distance of the town though, just on the off chance she was jumped by any hostile creatures. Rumor had it that the local fauna were ferocious beasts that required immense preparation for. And that was why she was trying to start off small...so to speak. She needed to learn this world's rules first before she could put her true talents to work. She eventually found a suitable tree and brought the full force of her rippling muscles down upon it. With a single chop, her natural strength burrowed the blade of the axe all the way through the tree until it was but a stump in the undegrowth. She grabbed the falling log with her free hand and pressed against it to keep it from falling further. She gently lowered the log onto the ground, taking care not to crush anything underneath. She then examined the log and, using the guide, began to cut the log into as many useful pieces as she could manage.
Gotef had gotten luckier than she expected. Not only did she get two useable and sizeable logs from the trunk, but from the more rotted bits she was able to scrounge up a grub and some sap as well. She had no idea what their practical application would be, but she was always willing to find out. maybe the sap could be distilled into a syrup, and the grubs as some kind of protein supplement? or perhaps as fertilizing agents for farming? In any case, there were more trees to fell. She may have been nearly half way, but that is still not all of the way. She brought the axe behind her head one handed again, and brought it down on a nearby tree, felling it cleanly. The trees around here were so rotted that Gotef didn't even need to tap into her true strength to fell them. in fact, she was almost certain that she could FLICK these trees and knock them over. How any of the citizens procured firewood or reasonable building wood on a regular basis was beyond her ken. All the same, she tried her best to carve whatever she could out of her latest bounty.
Well, THAT didn't go so well. In fact, it went about as well as Gotef expected it to the first time around. Only one useable log from an entire tree was a grim precedent, but the giantess was not about to be moved to a different spot just because this neck of the woods was deciding to be difficult. She clenched her hand around the Axe, and her left bicep bulged in response with unspent power coursing through it. She would have to get used to chopping trees like this, as there was no other way to get cooking done if there was no wood to ignite for a cooking fire. She raised the axehead high abover her own and brought it down at a shallow incline towards her right side into the base of the tree. As ususal, even the slightest show of force from the impressive woman was enough to obliterate whatever the axe touched, and the tree began to fall again only to be caught by being who felled it. She lay the tree down gently as before, and began to assess what this latest flora specimen held in store.
Again, another disappointment. Gotef extracted the one solitary log that she could from the fallen tree and moved on to find a suitable last tree needed. 5 logs was what she needed, so this would be the last tree felled for right now guaranteed. There was no way she could lose or come up short anymore. She would be free to move on to whatever task came next and leave this one reasonably behind. The closer she got to cooking, the closer she would get to making this world feel more like home. As she chopped down the latest tree, memories flooded her mind of the massive fortress her and her surrogate family lived in, and the good times they all shared despite the attrition of combat. She already missed the friendly and intellectual conversations with her peers, the enthusiasm of some of the warriors, and the loving respect of her 'second-papa'. She shook her head to clear her mind, steeling her gaze on the task at hand. it would do her no good to think about what she left behind, just to return to them as soon as she could.
Insult to injury, Gotef was able to procure two pieces of Gloom Wood from that last trunk. She chuckled a bit, and gathered them anyways, along with the Gloom Sap. She was thankful to walk away with an extra log of Gloom Wood in any case, since that would be one less that she would need to harvest right away. The Gloom Sap and Gloom Grubs were a nice extra bonus on top as well. She would have to look into the benefits of those things as soon as possible. There was no telling how this world of light reconciled the use of these things versus how her world used them, but it would be thrilling to find out. With a broad smile on her face, she walked back to the chef eager to start cooking.
It seemed that Gotef's trials were not quite done yet, as now the Cook needed mushrooms for the next stage of this meal. She had a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach that she took to fortell that she was going to assemble EVERY PIECE of this meal before being able to put hand to skillet. If that was what was required of her, then so be it. She marched back into the woods, back to the spot where she extracted wood from and began looking around the base of the trees. All of the trees were rotted enough and there was so much loamy soil that she was sure to find at least SOME mushrooms around there. The whole forest, despite some vestiges of life, resembled a shambling corpse the longer she stayed within. While it had some degree of beauty to it, the cloying sense of death and decay permeated every inch of the area save for what the villagers had reclaimed for themselves. She maintained being impressed with how the villagers had carved a path for themselves out here despite such hostile surroundings. She hoped that one day she could do the same.
A mildly auspicous start to Gotef's harvesting adventure! Two Gloomshroom and a Gloomweb were stored away. While the Giantess doubted that the webbing could be used for cooking purposes, there were stranger ingredients out there. If Swallow's Nest could be considered a delicacy, then anything was possible. There was really no telling what the rules were for this world. She continued to scour the ground for more loose morsels just waiting to be adopted by an aspiring Chef. She had started off astoundingly well, just as she did with the wood situation. She suspected she was in for a hard drop-off any second now if history was to be believed.
Well...so much for that thought. Gotef hit an amazing cache of materials that she could not have predicted in her wildest dreams. In one fell swoop, she gained 4 Shrooms, 2 webs, and 2 Gloomroots and Gloomweeds. She had never seen the latter materials, but they went into the bag all the same. The creative gears in her brain began to turn once more at how such items could be used as ingredients in meals. The roots were easy, they would likely act as a seasoning of some sort, but the weeds were a different story. It would have to be determined if they had any poisonous qualities, of course, and if they were if it were something that could be neutralized in some fashion. Some hazardous qualities in things can be cooked out or mixed with certain ingredients to make them harmless to all but the allergic. She would guess either a tea, or to be used as a seasoning like parsely, bay leaves, etc. She was already excited just thinking about the possibilities. She picked herself off the ground and walked back to the cook, ever thinking about how these materials could be prepared.
Boar 1 HP: 50/50 -35 to all combat rolls 1-25 will turn to flee. Requires one round to prepare to flee, during which it will not attack, and a second roll in a row will confirm it leaving combat and escaping. 26-50: defend 51-100: attack (will attack party members at random. 51-100 can be split into as many parts as needed to ensure everyone has an equal chance of getting attacked)
Gotef smiled in frustration in hearing her suspicions were confirmed. She would have to acquire every piece of this meal herself if it was to get made. Well if you want something done RIGHT, I suppose. She began to head off into the Gloomwood, looking for trouble. It wasn't every day that she found herself doing this sort of thing, but sometimes she had to do the dirty work herself if she wanted food on the table. She rolled her massive shoulders to limber herself up, knowing full well that she wasn't incapable of defending herself. it wasn't too long before she found her quarry: A Gloom Boar. it was a fearsome creature, its tusks wickedly pointed and its fur matted with blood from previous kills. The Giantess smiled and removed her glasses, putting them in a case for safe keeping. She didn't need them to see, so there was no reason to fight while wearing them. "Hey, Piggy! Come to Mama!" The Boar turned to the impressively tall woman as it decided its next move. Gotef's move, was to punch the Boar until it died and take as little damage as she could. She cocked back a hard left, her muscles bulging in anticipation as her fist launched forward in a mighty hook.
