Al drew away hastily, releasing her and taking about 3 long stides back but he had done it so quickly it seemed he had just disappeared and reappeared.
He shook his head, as if wiping away the very memory and looking forlorn.
"I'm sorry. That wasn't right of me to...Especially after I just told you."
He studied the ground intently, awaiting a reaction. Any reaction,as long as it wasn't her hands grinding into her palm again,he couldn't let her bleed to death.

Kohaku opened her eyes as their lips parted and stared over at him, still blushing softly. She didn't know what to do. The kiss had left her totally dumbfounded. She looked down at the ground and tried to regain her train of thought. She didn't know what she should do. Should she walk away and leave him? Should she just keep standing there? Or should she cave into her need for comfort and go after him?

She thought for a moment or so and looked back up at him. She slowly started to walk toward him and as she got close, wrapped her arms around him gently. She felt like she was being selfish.. Like she shouldn't be doing this.. But... She didn't want to just run away and end up feeling low for the rest of the week. That's what the man wanted her to do.. But not what she wanted..

Al was surprised to look up and not only see her face but feel the warmth and softness of her hands wrapping themselves around him.
He ran his fingers through her hair and down her spine with his right hand, not embracing her like last time.
"Kohaku...I know I promised you that I wouldn't leave but everything here is so complicated.

It was weird feeling this way,a way he hadn't felt for so long and he wondered if that had been for a reason.
"I want to..protect you like your brothers. But I seem to be the one that puts you in the need of protection."
As he said this he took her arm and flipped it around to the side she had cut, tracing over it with his nail.

Kohaku didn't want to hear what he was saying. She didn't want him to leave. His leaving would make her loose hope in her world. It would hurt her more than anything she could imagine doing to herself. She watched him trace his nail up one of her scars. Was he blaming himself for that? It wasn't his fault that she had done that.. She looked up at him, her eyes filled with hurt. He was the only one who had proved her wrong by staying... And now that he was saying that he might leave.. She felt worse than ever.

Al avoided looking at her face, he'd probably cave if he did that. Thus explaining why he couldn’t, no wouldn't see the hurt in her eyes. He didn't want to. Life was complicated enough for both of them why get involved? why get involved in life at all except with his own kind? you come to a town, drink people dry and then run as fast as the wind could carry you when they started sharpening their stakes and burning their torches. it had always been this way and was why very few vampires he had ever met chose to take partners.

He put his hands over her own, still not looking at her directly.
"kohaku, don't. Just leave, I’ll find Beatrice and then I'm leaving this town for good."
The lies were coming fast now, trying more to convince himself than anyone else that he was indeed leaving.
with a small amount of effort he had slithered away from kohaku and was making a brisk stride to the trees.

'Shadows. How ironic that this be the way I to leave someone as well'
he mused. Maybe it was the way his kind had to be, shadows their natural allies. Hiding their secrets, their lives, the truths no mortal ever wanted to see. And then like a poisonous plant it laid down venom for those to weak to see past it and enter playing on their fears of the unknown.

Kohaku watched him running away, her eyes widening with both fear and shock at his words. A flashback seemed to strike her mind as she went back to just before she had lost her voice. Time seemed to freeze itself as she remembered it.

She was outside just next to the forest, Cato standing in front of her with a twisted look in his eyes. He pushed her to the ground. She started crying. "Stop crying, you little b***h. I'm leaving you for good! You friggin' hear me?!" He shouted, her eyes widening at every word. She stopped crying and could only stare at him. Her brother grinned madly. "He's gonna get you too! And Fang! And even Artemis!! You're all going to suffer... But especially you, Kohaku. You're going to suffer the most.." He said to her grinning. He then turned to the forest and started to run off.

Kohaku's world came back into motion as the flashback ended and Al was still running away. Her eyes started to swell up with tears... But, they weren't normal tears... They were tears of blood. She had held everything in for so long, all her pain.. Her emotions.. Her tears.. That they had turned to blood. They rolled down her cheeks and dripped to the ground. He's leaving you Kohaku... The voice in her head whispered in a happy tone. He's leaving you just like everyone else... And he's never going to come back... Kohaku's tears kept coming. She couldn't get them to stop. He was leaving!! He was leaving her and never coming back!!! The fear built up inside her.. The fear of being alone again. A door in her mind slammed open. The one she had kept locked up for so long. It opened... And everything flooded out at once. "DON'T LEAVE ME AL!!!!!!!!!" She screamed at the top of her lungs, her eyes pouring out crimson. She fell to her knees and stared at his figure, her pupils slowly disappearing. "Please.. Don't leave me..." She whispered in a shakey voice. All her memories were coming back to her... And attacking her like wolves.

Al stopped in his tracks, almost falling over because it had taken him so of guard. The voice sounded familiar yet so estranged and unused.
his thoughts had wandered far in that last hour and they flew to Beatrice for the moment. Yet he had been certain he was the only one in the cemetery, him and Kohaku!
This had all been processed somehow in a matter of seconds in his mind, drawing pictures from memories not of his own, Kohaku’s!
She had wanted be a singer and now the two voices had clicked as one he felt he could recognize it anywhere, given though this new one was slightly older.

He turned around now, looking at her she was crying, although he had yet to notice the exact substance of the tears.
"Kohaku!?"
he practically yelled across the cemetery. She was falling on the grass, her hair was becoming wet with the 'tears' and his steps seem to be taking him an eternity to reach her, weighing down like bricks of cement in an Olympic size pool.

Everything was once again going in a slow fashion, even the sound seemed to have blotted out except for her sobbing. by the time he had actually was leaning over her and picking up her frail torso in his hands, clearing her hair away. his eyes widened in shock, her usually blonde hair had small droplets of red instead of crystal clear tears and he looked at her eyes.
"B-blood!"

He whispered, balancing a single drop on his finger tip and looking at it. As her pupils began to dilate he flicked it away, shaking her roughly as if it would jolt her awake. What was happening!? why was it happening!?
He held her head and rested it on his shoulder. her family would know what to do right? RIGHT!? He was thinking irrationally and barely caught her words.

"I'm not leaving kohaku, I’m right here. We're going to your home and you'll be fine. You have to wake up though, don’t want to scare everyone do you?"
He laughed shakily, trying to lighten the mood although failing miserably, finding himself unable to pick her up in fear she may get worse. For god sake she'd been standing almost close to fine a minute ago!

Kohaku didn't say anything... Nor did she move. Her eyes looked lifeless and her body seemed limp. She was breathing, but very softly.

"Now you've gone and done it.." A voice came from the side. It was him, sitting on one of the graves. "You've broken my little toy..." He said with a little grin. "You remember that door, right?" He asked, hopping off of the grave and slowly walking over to them. "Well, you just opened it... Or at least, you actions did." He said with a smirk. "Poor little Kohaku.. So afraid of being left alone.. First her brother, then any friend she had ever made.." He then looked at Al, a seemingly elated look on his face. "And then you. I guess this proves me right. She may have been strong, but in the end, it only took you walking away to break her. Ahh.. Such cruel ironies. I live for moments like this.."

Al at first didn't hear the evil demon that so usually hide himself in kohaku's mind, dismissing it as only his sense acting up and picking up on the thoughts in his state.
It was only as he started 'broken my little toy...' he actually relised it was coming from elsewhere.

'I must be losing it,what the hell is going on here!?'
thought al staring straight ahead, still seeming as if he hadn't noticed the demon. It was like a wall had been built around him from all the things that had happened, what had happned? Finally accepting that somewhere between coming here and feeding he hadn't passed out he placed kohaku against one of the closer graves.

"Your worse than any monster I've ever seen the likes of then, and I've travelled to some of the worst legieons of hell."
Al said, eyes boring into the elated eyes of the man sitting opposite.
Al could already guess a reaction,a smirk and a some-what snide remark to try and 'amp' up whatever tension he may want, although he was dealing with a half mad man.
"Gonna take a wild guess and say this," He nodded at kohaku and the grave of her assumedly departed brother cato.
"..is a bit of your work?"

"Why, thank you!" He said, taking Al's insult as a compliment. He then looked over at Kohaku and the grave as they were pointed out. "I suppose you could blame me for her brother going crazy.. I mean, I did tell him where to go in the mansion to find the answers he was looking for. Plus a few other things.." He said and looked up and around. "But uh.. I'm not the one who told Kohaku to open that door.. She did that one." He said with a grin. "A long time ago, I told her I'd help her seal away everything.. But that she would have to seal away something precious, too. And I'm sure you can guess what that is... And now that everythings coming back to her, she's struggling to keep her head above it all... And the tears? Well, think of those as something passed down from mother to daughter... Cute, isn't it?" He said and laughed.

"Cute isn't exactly the words I'd use."
Al commented, casting a quick glance at kohaku and the grave of Cato.
So this was the guy responsible for so much pain. He'd turned family members away from each and seemed intent on making them suffer even more. Would he only be happy when they were all insane and wishing themselves dead?

that gave way to a new train of thought, more questions being made then he supposed would ever be answered,he'd begun feeling like the poor character alice from one of madison's wonderland book. So much was happening with so little sense and answers to turn the actions into sense.
"So why are you out here?"

He asked, asking the first question in a long line.

He's composition had remained calm during this time, funnily enough even though his mind was in a swirl it still felt calm. The calm of the ocean, always the same and flat yet currents tumbled beneath. It was a confusing emotion but he'd been through enough of that today to be used to it.

"Because right now it's a big 'ol mess in there..." He said and pointed to Kohaku. Her eyes were still open, and the red tears continued to flow out of her eyes. He sighed and shook his head. "Poor little Kohaku. I wonder when she'll snap out of it.." He said with a grin.

Inside Kohaku's mind, everything looked horribly misfigured and obscure. It was almost a whole different mind. Kohaku sat in front of the open door, hugging her knees and staring into it. She remembered everything now.. And it was almost too much for her to handle. All the pain.. All the hurt.. All the sadness.. She remembered it all..

This time Al did snap, his head jerking upwaords to stare at the being.
"You mean she might not get better!?"
He'd taken a few steps foreward and only stopped a metre or so away from the grave the demon was sitting on,hand tightning into a fist subconciously as if to strike a blow.

Yet nothing hapened,he just stood waiting for an answer in a tensed up looking position.
Kohaku hadn't moved at all since he'd left her leaning against the grave and she still seemed to be starring at othing with pinpricks for pupils.
Did this wack job seriously mean what he said or was it some kind of game?

to look back at her unblinking eyes, weeping tears of srimson was unnerving and he wished he had closed her eyelids as well.

The man kept the grin on his face and shrugged. "Who knows? Maybe she'll wake up.. Maybe she wont. It all depends on how bad everything really affects her.. But knowing Kohaku, this isn't going to be pretty." He said and laughed a little.

How could he laugh!? She might be stuck like that forever and he couldn't care less, did it not bother him that if she stayed like that he might not be able to go back? what then? would he wreack havoc on the rest of an untouched reality. It seemed unfair for that to happen to both kohaku and reality.

He turned his back on him and knelt back to kohaku, his back to to the demon sitting on the grave.
'kohaku'
He thought then as if he had no control of it,like being pushed or pulled foreward he was thrust into an abyss of blackness.unrecognizable except for the constant near yet far view of a door once close but now open.
