RinoaHeartilly Keltzy I had auditions (which was really a chair test) for symphony on thursday, and I sucked. The sight reading peace looked like a grade 4 and I think I ended up playing it in the wrong key. sweatdrop My scale died, but my selected piece was all right (if not a little too easy). I did learn that I'm a lot better at theory than I thought. I was one of the three people who could answer the theory questions. It made me happy. The audition was just scary though. The room was tiny and then these two started writing as soon as I began playing. It's really nerve-racking. Otherwise, things are going pretty good. For me we had a big room. We did our auditions in the choir room, and all 3 BD were all the way at the top of the risers sitting opposite of you and you were all the way at the bottom with a stand, chair, and your music. They were all looking down at you when you first entered the room... then Ms. Hoffman said 'Hello Sarah!' and it kinda shattered the whole atmosphere... xDDD it was weird, I felt the need to burst out laughing during the entire audition. xDD I wish mine would have been like that. I was just with two people from the college, and they didn't say anything like "hello." I think it wouldn't have been as scary if that had happened. smile Unfortunately, my poor friend got marked down for posture, although the chair she had to use wasn't made for cello. If she loses, she (who has been playing for 9 years) will lose her chair to someone who has been playing for one year. eek He's really good.

Haha, that reminds me when Rhoades (meh BD) told us about the 'special' chairs that we have in band that are like, posture chairs that have a special name for em', but anyways. They make it so you 'have to sit up straight'. He was trying to get the Jr. High principle to understand that the jr. High needed those chairs but the principle didn't get it. He took one of the chairs and sat in it, slouching saying 'I'm not sitting up in it' and so Rhoades was like "..." Cuz' he couldn't really argue with the fact that even if they got the chairs kids could still slouch in them xDD So then they had to fall back on the lame statement 'Well, the saxes can't hold their instruments right in chairs with arms...' xDD

Hehehe. May teaches at both the middle school and the high school, so there's no escaping him. I also just found out today that we're losing two of our three wind ensemble trumpets next year. One's graduating and the other's dropping out. We started this year with four, and next year, only 4th chair will be left. Weird.
If you want to talk about off topic (though not really) a week or so ago, Mr. May was asking one of the kids if his tempo was right, by using a metronome. However, he phrased it "Chris, could you check me out?" Earlier in the year he asked both him and 1st chair flute if they had a whip at home. He also asked 3/4th trumpet for crack. He an all right guy when he's not playing favorites.
