Cassandra thought she heard something above her, and a second later Merrick, along with another Kitsune appeared behind her. She jumped slightly and her eyes widened. She looked different, but she would recognize the second Kitsune anywhere. "Constance?"Constance grinned and waved at the others. They were all giving her strange looks, but that was to be expected. She did look different after all. Not at all like she had looked when they had last seen each other. "Hey Cassandra."Merida's mouth hung open when she saw Constance and Merrick. She shook her head a little, pushing aside the questions that flooded her mind. Right now they had other things to take care of. "Yeah, several of the kids from the Abbey took off and were captured by some rather large rats."Amelia was not surprised to see Merrick and Constance as they were. She smirked a little. It was bound to happen sooner or later. They had gotten extremely close, very fast. They were meant to be as they were now.

Kasumi cocked her head thoughtfully. Seems she's been marked... makes Damon's idiotic plan to impregnate her useless, as now it'll only be possible with him, she thought with a slight smirk.

Merrick sighed, shaking his head fractionally. "If it's Horty, I swear I'll drag him back to the Abbey by his ears," he said with a sigh.

Lorcán shifted his weight, glancing up at the twilight sky. "If I'm right, the rats will probably be falling asleep soon, giving us one heck of a chance to get them out," he said with a sigh.

Cassandra shook her head a little and then sighed. "I do believe one of them is Horty," She said to Merrick. She knew now what had happened with Merrick and Constance and it caused her to smile a little. She looked to Lorcan as he spoke. "Then let's wait the little bit for them to sleep.""Yes, that would be the best idea," Amelia said as Nala came back into view. She knelt down in front of the feline, running her hands over her fur. "The kids are okay for now. It shouldn't hurt to wait a little while before going in there."Merida sighed and rubbed her face. "Well, then we wait."

Kasumi sighed as she leaned against the wall.

Merrick rolled his eyes. "Idiot; he wants adventure, but doesn't stop to think ahead... if nothing else, he'll learn from this one way or another if it doesn't kill him first," he muttered before he chuckled and pulled out a few of the cakes he'd made that had been in the Abbey. "Hey, at least we aren't going to be hungry," he said with amusement.

Lorcán tilted his head, cocking an eyebrow as Merrick revealed the honey-and-mint cakes; he had tried a couple of them and they were surprisingly rich in flavor.

Constance sighed softly as they decided to wait. She didn't want to leave the others there with the rats, but she supposed it was the best idea for now. To try and sneak in and out without bothering the rats who had captured them. She grinned as Merrick took out some sweets. She reached forward and took one from him, popping it into her mouth. Cassandra walked up to stand next to Lorcan. "And now we play the waiting game." She looked up to the sky and then back to him. Amelia sat on the ground, leaning back against a tree. They just had to wait a couple of hours at the most and then they could get those kids out of there.

Kasumi shifted subtly as a small spark of flame ignited at her fingertip, then she let it drift from fingertip to fingertip as a control exercise of her 'Katon' affinity.

Merrick tilted his head with a faint half smile towards Constance before he heard a hollow bong similar to a gong. "What was that?" he muttered before he rose to his feet, unconsciously summoning the large nodaichi onto his back in a flicker of ruby-gold energy.

Lorcán jerked as his gaze flashed to where the odd sound had come from. "Seems that otter friend of yours is trying to draw off the rats; he dropped a large cast iron kettle on the head of whom I think was the chief," he said with amusement as a second echoing bong came along with several snarls and yelps. He glanced back at Merrick but was surprised to see he was simply gone.

Merrick had pushed off the ground sharply as soon as Lorcan had mentioned Bragoon, using a thick tree branch to gain altitude and distance to where he could see the guttering fire. His hands unconsciously flickered through a couple of handsigns before he inhaled deeply."Fūton: Renkūdan," he barked as he coughed sharply. Seconds later a large fireball erupted as his attack hit the fire. He could see Bragoon stumbling back in surprise at the sudden blast of heat and wind though he saw Saro in the tree above the cages and the three young Abbeydwellers as well.

Constance's head jerked to the side when she heard the sound. Well it seemed like they were getting a little more help. She smirked when she saw Lorcan's surprised look at Merrick's sudden disappearance. "Looks like we should follow." she jumped up and followed after Merrick. Amelia stood up slowly as Nala darted back in the direction of the rat's dwelling. "Well it seems our waiting game is over. Let's get this done." She smiled a little as she followed quickly after her feline familiar. "Distraction, have to love it." Cassandra said with a laugh as she followed after Amelia and Nala.

Alede OOC - Remember, the canon 'Naruto' series happened centuries before all of this, so many of the techniques are going to be termed as 'rediscovered' or 'recreated' as over time they were forgotten by virtually everyone short of Naruto and Kasumi.
Kasumi blinked at the flaring fireball and rolled her eyes. "Naruto just had to rub off on him," she muttered, referring to her brother's usual startling or theatric entrance.

Merrick landed with a heavy crunch a few dozen feet from where Bragoon was. He kicked one rat across the face and left him stunned on the ground as he took the feet out from another before driving an elbow into its gut and left it groaning on the ground. He chose not to use his blade for good reason. He exhaled as he ducked a clumsy swing of a staff before he ducked into a leaping roll to evade a spear slashed at his knees. He rolled through and twisted, sweeping the legs out from under one rat and using the momentum of his sweep to twist into a second hard heel kick that caught the rat full in the face, unintentionally recreating the Konoha Senpū as the rat went tumbling like a bowling ball, knocking over and/or stunning easily half a dozen others.

Lorcán sighed before he darted after Cassandra, the bladed weight at the end of his kusari-gama already spinning before he swatted a rising rat across the snout with a crunch that sent him down senseless.

"Hmm, very nice," Constance said as she landed by Merrick's side. Her hand shot out, knocking aside a spear that was thrust at her and grabbing the rat by the neck. She squeezed, lifting him up. She was surprised at how much stronger she was now. "Well, that wasn't very nice," Constance muttered as she threw the rat into a tree. It slumped to the ground, unmoving. Cassandra lifted her bow and shot at a rat, hitting it right between the eyes. In quick succession she downed two more, keeping them off of Merrick and Constance. She smirked a little at Constance and nodded, swinging around her bow. It caught a rat across the face, the string slashing into him. He had thought he could sneak up on her. She shook her head a little. Nala growled as she darted among the rats, slashing at their legs, taking them down to the ground. They were screaming in agony on the ground. She sniffed and continued on her way. Merida slashed down with her hand, catching several rats on fire. Luckily they weren't near any trees so that they would burn. She looked over her shoulder as the fire's were extinguished by water. "Hmm, very nice," she said to Constance with a small nod of her head.

Kasumi shifted aside at the last moment, a spear shooting past her before she kicked a rat under the chin hard enough to send it high into the sky. "Might as well make an impact," she sighed as she pushed off the ground hard, driving a hard knee into the gut of the rat and sending it higher. A flickering aura of brilliant bluish green illuminated her before she locked her arms around the rat's abdomen and began dropping and spinning at high speed in her Omote Renge.

Merrick chuckled before he drew the large nodaichi and shifted it, not noticing as it shifted forms into what seemed to be a serpentine whip before he flicked his wrist, launching it forward and striking the door of Fenna's cage. He saw the mousemaid's eyes widen in shock at the strike as the door shattered and fell apart before the whip retracted, the large nodaichi reverting back into its blade form as it reached Merrick. He blinked, looking down at the demonic soul weapon. "Who knew that it could shift into other forms?" he murmured with surprise before he shifted to let it rest on his back before he caught the rusted scimitar blade with his gauntleted hand before he drove a hard boot into the gut of the rat before he dropped with his full weight behind him and slammed the rat's head hard into the ground with a crack that clearly signaled a snapped neck from the DDT. He rolled back onto his feet, bouncing lightly on the balls of his feet.

Lorcán blinked as he saw Kasumi leap high into the air with a rat before she started coming down. His jaw dropped open in surprise before he blocked one staff with his chain before decapitating the rat with his kama blade, a trail of lightning arcing behind it. After a few seconds he felt the ground shudder as a plume of dust had kicked up as the rat and Kasumi slammed into the ground with tremendous force from her attack.

Bragoon blinked, seeing the plume of dust as he saw several goodbeasts charging out of the trees before he recognized Merrick. He cocked his head, jerking his hand as Saro fired two slingstones that broke the doors of Horty's and Springald's cages; both the hare and squirrelmaid darted up the vine ropes as he swung the cauldron as Horty kicked it hard, which impressed the older otter as the vine rope holding it up snapped and sent the cauldron and its boiling contents over eight rats before the cauldron slammed with a crunch into a half dozen more rats, leaving them either screeching or silent in death.

Constance had swung into action even as Merrick began to free his friends. Several rats had charged in his direction, intent on stopping him. She growled slightly and jumped forward, easily knocking two of them far away. She had hit them harder than she had intended. She could hear the cracking of bones. Constance moved on to the third, grabbing it by the neck and swinging it around into a tree. Amelia knelt down to the ground once again and dug her hands in. Tree roots shot up from the ground and circled several rats. They screamed as they were dragged underneath the ground. She grinned a little as Nala tackled another rat and they went rolling across the ground. Cassandra shot another of her arrows, and when it hit one of the rats, it convulsed as lightening coursed through it. As it fell to the ground the lightening branched out to another group of rats. "Ah, that's never happened before." She murmured softly to herself.

Kasumi rose from the shallow crater, her eyes widening as she saw the dome of icy panes. "He.... recreated that?!?" she squeaked in shock, not noticing Merida feet from her also staring at the dome which encompassed no less than two dozen rats. He's managed to recreate techniques instinctively that have been lost for centuries... and with his affinities for fire, wind, and clearly water, he will be a powerful ally... and fearsome foe, she thought, a soft sigh the only sign of her surprise as she saw the technique her brother had mentioned as being the first time he'd drawn upon their enraged father's 'power', though at the time nobody had realized it.

Merrick caught one rat by the arm and leg before he half turned, twisting before he hurled the rat at a trio that were darting at Constance. All four went down as he shifted his weight, his grip tightening as he focused, a faint flickering blue aura before it flared, the temperature dropping sharply as thin panes of ice began rising from the ground and formed into a dome.

Lorcán tilted his head. "Chain lightning... it must have a lot of power behind it. Most likely, you are unconsciously infusing elemental energy into the arrows to produce different effects," he said with a thoughtful look as he glanced at Cassandra. He noticed with interest that flickers of air within the dome indicated inhuman speed being employed as the rats screeched in shock and pain.

Bragoon inhaled sharply, seeing the unusual violet-cobalt blue vixen tossing burly rats around like dolls while Merrick vanished into the strange dome. "Mayhaps it is wise for us to get away while we can, Saro," he said under his breath. He sighed as he heard Horty snarling at the rats before he heard a thud as Fenna sighed. He scooped up the stunned and dazed hare over his shoulder and motioned for the young ones to dart with them onward southeast.

Constance looked up when she heard the rats screaming in agony and anger. She smirked at Merrick as her hand shot out, her nails scratching down a rats face. She spun around and kicked the rat several feet away. As she looked around, nearly all the rats were taken care of. She noticed that The other two Abbey dwellers had gotten the ones who had been in the cages. That was good that they were out of the way. "Well, that was fun," she said to Merrick with a laugh. Cassandra looked over at Lorcan and a grin spread across her face. "I haven't had to use it often. Maybe once or twice." Her head tilted to the side slightly as she looked around at the decimated numbers of the rats. "Well that was easier than I thought it would be."Merida stared at the dome that Merrick had made. The rats inside were screeching with pain and shock. She looked over at Kasumi, seeing her friend's shocked look. Merrick, it seemed, was much stronger than any of them had anticipated. She whistled softly and shook her head. "Interesting."Amelia stood up from the ground, dusting her hands off once again. She could still hear the faint screams of the rats underneath the ground. No doubt they would get out sooner or later, but it would take a while. Then they would think twice about attacking anyone. She moved over to Kasumi's side. "Nice little thing your son can do there," she said softly. "And I see that he has given Constance the mating mark."

Kasumi coughed, shivering for a moment before she got control of it. "With his instinctual awareness of his elemental affinities and clear power... we're fortunate he's on our side," she said with a sigh as the panes shattered and fell to show the rats twitching, but most of them were still with dozens of shallow cuts on their bodies. Considering it was less than five minutes after we ran into those scouting rats that I noticed Haname darting off and two minutes before they arrived... their speed may rival that of Naruto's adoptive father without his 'unique' technique, she thought wryly before she blinked at Amelia's words. "He did? But as far as I know, neither Naruto nor I have..." she said before her voice trailed off before she exhaled hard upon hearing Merrick's explanation as her gaze shifted to where she'd noticed the Abbeydwellers darting away. "We might as well follow them," she sighed as she started loping over the soggy ground in a fluid loping run.

Merrick tilted his head as a clap of thunder rolled, making him look up as rain started falling. He sheathed the nodaichi over his shoulder and tilted his head. "Honestly, I didn't know about the mating mark until I'd already placed it, and frankly... well, let's just say we were enjoying it too much to realize it," he said wryly before he noticed his mother already running after Brag and Saro.

Lorcán exhaled with a chuckle. "What do you expect? We had the clear advantage of surprise and knowledge that they were there as well as where they were holding the children," he said with amusement as he let his hand drift over the chain of the kusari-gama and half its spinning.

Constance giggled a little at Kasumi's reaction to Amelia saying Merrick had put the mating mark on her. She wasn't surprised that the Amaranth Coven leader knew. She may be blind, but she often saw more than most. Her gaze went to where the Abbey dwellers were currently hurrying away. She nodded as Kasumi began to follow after them. "Well our work here is done," she said as she looked at Merrick. "Let's get back now."Cassandra chuckled and nodded. "Yeah, they had no idea what hit them." She looked over her shoulder at the others who had already begun to move away. "I guess we should head back.""Time to go," Amelia said with a nod as Nala appeared by her side again. She quickly turned and followed after Kasumi. Merida ran her hands through her hair as she followed after the others. It had been a quick fight. She was glad for that.
