Araia.Naishi Well, yeah. I had the SCARIEST dream last night...Alice said she was taking another extended hiatus and we were all in hysterics and I was like, "Okay! We'll make it! Kinda!" And then Jaho's like, "Yep. We're all gonna die." ...I'm seriously not kidding. ...Whoa, that ^ was redundant. Hahaha. wink

Okay, I think it's time to round up the crew and discuss what to do for October! I know we didn't plan much together for September, and that's not a trend I want to continue. Besides, I feel bad for poofing in and out like that last month, but school can be quite bothersome at times. It's like a superhero lifestyle minus the spandex and silly heroics. Alicemae Nerd Wonder: College student by day, apple-eating editor by night! Waa, whoda thunk?
...But yeah. stare We need to breathe some new life into the 'zine! Hehe, I'll try to type up a tentative schedule and share s'more duties so I don't become a silly tyrant that runs this thing all by her lonesome self. crying
Here are some of my thoughts:
1. This issue just featured the bare essentials. Do we want to include something special for October? I was thinking we could do something for Halloween, along with some kind of tribute for the Katrina victims. Maybe gather a collection of different perspectives on how this situation is currently running. Rolling Stones did a pretty interesting article on how our media is covering Katrina, and I want to draw from other sources as well. I guess this would be a more journalistic rather than creative venture, though we could be ambitious and try to attempt both? I know it seems we're a few months behind for this tragedy, but I think it's better to be late than never do it at all.
2. Okay, Kraeela pretty much disappeared these few weeks. Does anyone want to take over The Watch until she comes back? I can try my best to submit a few links, but I'm such a guild-lurvin' homebody since I lurk around TGP threads most of the time. sweatdrop
3. Finally, please PM me throughout the month if you don't get a reply in the threads. I try to keep tabs on all of them, but I'm only human... (I know, I was hopin' to be perfect too. Dammit, lol.)

My palet is pretty much booked. Two essays for college us. Four Response journals for College Comp by the 17th. We're starting another project in College Comp on Monday. And I also need to write a short story for the contest before the end of october.
So unless you want reviews on magazine articles I can't offer you much more than a column.

Contrary to popular belief, I have not disappeared off the face of the earth. Neither have I been destroyed, reduced to a pile of simmering ash. But in the fever of my finger-tips, the suspicious shiftyness of my eyes, the gleam of superior secrets harbored in my eyes and the lopsided, slightly menacing, grin on my lips.....something is afoot. Yes yes, my dear Gaian Press-ians. The mystery unfolds daily, through nights of toil and sweat (ok fine, more like weekend nights) finally success peeks coyly through batted eyelashes. Clicky on the image to view it nice and large. It's just a draft for now, the actual site will fit your screen (I hope, if all goes well) I had to change the Gaian Press banner to fit the color scheme (imagine that dreadful pink/fuschia against the green/gold!!!) I'm still wondering how I'll fit the other banners in. I think I'll keep them the whatever colors they are to break up the monotony, so that the green/gold doesn't get boring. I do hope it's ok.....

In the actual, all those text thingies on the feather and along the bottom will be links. I'm thinking I'll have to lighten up the color of the bottom links, so they'll be more visible.
Also if you notice, I got rid of Honorable Mentions and just categorized it into Poetry and Prose. Afterthoughts, too, will be going away. Methinks Alice could just write about them in the intro.
One thing I figure, instead of havign to remake the homepage each month to say "Staff Spotlight" or "Beyond the Box" or whatever; it'll just be under Features. Actually, now that I think about it, that should prolly be the first on that line-up, huh? Or should it be last? Ekh, It's much too late for me to be thinking so much.
And all the columns have been squeezed into, duh, Columns. I'm thinking clicking that link will lead to a page with a list of all the columns in that issue, and the reader can just pick the one they want.
Akh, it's been a long night. It's 1:50am already, and I'd started this 9pm xp
I searched google forever looking for the perfect feather, couldn't find it and figured, "If I can't find it, I'ma make it!"
