((Haha, Azure. And shouldn't you take the number of members as a sign that this is a popular quality roleplay. Oh and depending on whether Kazumi and Burakku are still active with us we may now have between 7 and 9 members. Anyways, on with the story.))

"Ah, Thank you." Sai said as he took the bread and the map. "And yes I did sleep well." He turned to Kin, "What happened last night was I walked in on one of the Guards killing one of Brantalis' apprentices. When he saw that I had seen he attacked me. And he was able to cast without incantations. I was already tired from our battle with Brantalis and then going to the festival, I didn't have a choice but to run." He turned back to Vilya, "As for what to do now I have no idea, I guess I'll just go back to what I was doing before. I'll just have to be cautious around Imperial Guards."

((Btw: Sai doesn't know for sure if Aruhl followed him, much less that he took half a squad to hunt him down.))

((Didn't Vil tell him he was being chased? (She did outrun the guards after all).))

"You say that like you're going to be alone." She folded her arms across her chest.
"I'm sure we all could figure something out." She paused for a moment, scratching her head. "But the fact that the Imperial heads are doing things like this let alone getting away with it bothers me...Where does the corruption start, or with whom? And what were they up to anyway? What could they have against an old sage's apprentice that would end in murder?

Suddenly a figure appeared at the edge of the clearing and jolted her out of her thoughts.
The nightmare stepped from the shadows, looking as out of place in the sunlight as a fish would have in the sky.
Tura's ears pricked in surprise and she listened as the dark horse spoke into her mind.
The gryphon spoke in a tone of controlled annoyance to her companion.
And without so much as a glance back, the nightmare was gone.
Tura glared at Vilya.

Jania walked quietly through the woods with her familiar striding alongside her. The 2 made an odd pair. . .Jania looked like a small child no older then 12 walking along side a massive spider. Her white hair was long and straight and flowed down to her waist. Her black dress rippled in the light wind of the morning. <Calm day, I hope we find someone worth challenging in this next town. I only get to have fun so many times a year.> Jania said telepathically to the spider.

<Calm down, Kitty, There will be plenty of time to have fun. . .we're close to it so your power should be returning soon.> the spider replied back into her mind.
"don't call me Kitty." Jania replied out loud. A small amount of anger flashed through her eyes. The moment faded as she looked forward to the time when her power would be unlocked fully.

Jania smiled slightly and closed her eyes. . . her power was indeed returning to her, although it was a rather slow process for her tastes she still enjoyed it. She used a small portion of her returning magical strength to expand her senses outside of her surroundings and noticed not one but two creatures watching her from slight ahead of where the two were.

Jania asked telepathically.

<approximately 20 minutes, which is why i asked you to transform..>

"Damn spider." Jania said out loud.

"That 'Damn spider' better be Damn good at protecting you little girl." a man said as he stepped out of the bushes in front of her. A large red Minotaur followed behind him.

Jania reached slowly into her pack that she kept at her side and pulled out. . . a water skin filled with red wine. which she began to suck on through a makeshift straw made from bamboo. "I can handle myself fine, thanks." she said as she slurped down her red wine.

The pair of thieves looked furious.

((I'm turning my characters intro into a 4 part post so i can take my time and word myself correctly (well that and i know stoic irl and we keep going over the finer details of my character for his peace of mind) ))

The pair of thieves looked furious. . .and the large Minotaur with the axe acting first. The thieves were about 15 feet away from the little girl and her spider and the Minotaur close 5 feet of that distance in two steps but an incomprehensible word from the little girl made him stop. She simply stood there and continued slurping her wine. Her hand that held the water skin now had one finger pointing down at the Minotaurs legs.

The Minotaur looked back at his companion who looked dumbfounded. they were both thinking the same thing, could this little kid really cast magic. The man recovered his composure first and said "Mumbling words won't help you little girl. . .kill her Theron."

The Minotaur Theron was about to take another step with his left leg but as it was raising in the air, the right raised with it and Theron fell backwards onto his back.

"What are you doing Theron!" The human with the sword yelled.

The Minotaur stared at him with a look of rage and Jania could picture the ferocious argument they were probably having telepathically. It made her giggle slightly.

"You take me lightly do you!", the man yelled, "I'll teach you to never take Kajiin the fire master lightly!"

The man pointed an open palm at the girl and began saying "Vulgus incen-" but at the same time the little girl pointed a finger from her other hand at the man and said quickly, "suggero ligamen," and twitched her finger. The action seemed to seize control of the mans palm and launch it straight at the owner with a vicious slap.

((I had to place ? marks in place of the spell words because the site that translates was down when i made this post, but i'll change it once the site gets back up.))

Jania looked at the scene before her and giggled slightly. Even though the cause of the uncoordinated movement was visible, neither opponent seemed to have realized what was happening. Jania watched the human named Kajiin stare confoundedly at his arm as he wondered what made it move without his command while making the Minotaur Theron's right leg rotate in slow circles.

<These two are idiots. Sneak around and bite that stupid bandit so we can keep moving Cuddles.> Jania said telepathically while conveying her tone with an almost whimsical bordem.

<Your done playing with them already?>

<It's difficult for me to enjoy toying with the stupid.> as Jania transmitted this thought to the retreating form of her familiar she noticed that Kajiin seemed to have regained his composure as he had not only noticed her magical string but tried to cut through with his sword, which Jania knew was entirely useless.

The magical cord was nothing more then an incorporeal strand of magic that allowed Jania to extend her will into an opponent through her magic. The strand could only be cut in one of two ways; by gathering magical energy to Jania's attachment point in order to override the attachment or by using a cutting force of magical energy to cut the string.

Kajiin seemed to realize his predicament because he stopped his attempts to cut the string with his sword and instead decided to go on the offensive. He ran toward Jania quickly while swerving in order to avoid any new strings she might throw out. Jania giggled a bit once more, maybe this guy wasn't as stupid as she thought. Jania gathered her magical energy for a spell that under normal circumstances might be strong enough to delay the enemy but in her current state would simply bounce off harmlessly. Of course the spell wasn't really for damage.

"glacies flatus," Jania muttered in the language of magic. As soon as she finished her spell a small pellet of ice formed in from of her and shoot straight at Kajiin, while at the same time Jania jerked a finger which made Kajiin's arm jerk into the path of the bullet. Kajiin saw it and flung his body into an awkward position where he would only be able bring his sword into a downward stab.

Jania prepared her magic for the next part of her quickly made plan. Kajiin made the only offensive move he could make as Jania forced his arm to slap him again in order to delay him from casting any spells. Kajiin brought his sword down in a stabbing motion that was aiming directly for Jania's gut. . . .

Kajiin brought his sword down in a stabbing motion that was aiming directly for Jania's gut. . . . At the same time Jania muttered one more spell. "vultus senior"

Kajiin's sword impacted with a small thud that kicked up dirt around the impact. Instead of impaling the small girl he had seen before the sword was now stabbing between the legs of a young woman's dress and into the gravel of the road behind her. In the moment of the bandits confusion Jania muttered another spell. "suggero ligamens," as she said the spell she dropped her water skin and pointed the now free three fingers at Kajiin.

Kajiin made to slash upward but found his hand had stopped gripping his sword and instead moved clasp his own neck. He was bewildered until he saw that three more strings were now connecting to his body. The one on his upper right arm, a new one on his left wrist, and one for each of his knee caps.

"Your finished," Jania said with a hint of malice as she glanced slightly past Kajiin. Cuddles had gotten into position and dropped down on a silky strand of spiders web coming from his abdomen, he lowered himself down enough to sink his fangs into Kajiin's back and transfer some of his deadly poison.

The spider climbed back onto the road and Jania climbed onto of the spiders back and straddled the area between thorax and abdomen, the spider was big enough where she seemed to be sitting in a chair that was a little to small for her. <We're done here Rayneer take me to town while i get some rest.> Jania said through the telepathic bond.

Rayneer the spider looked over at the Minotaur which looked to be now suffering the affects of his poison and bite. Jania always seemed to take advantage of the binding by disabling one of her opponents. They were no longer a threat and Rayneer walked along the road while his companion relaxed after her magic usage.

Teh, Imperial Guards are nothing but annoying trash, they don't even do well for a warm up battle. Kin thought to himself angrily.

"Well, it wasn't too long ago that it happened. I think we should get moving soon." Kin suggested. Looks like that Vilya girl will be tagging along... She seems like the very careful type too. I don't think I could ghost her. On the other hand, I'm still eager to fight that girl, Minatsuki... Kin debated.

Vix warned.

((I'm just posting this to point out that Burakku and Kazumi have both not posted for roughly three weeks. Because of this I am removing their profiles from the memberlist. Hooray, we're back down to 7 people. It was starting to get a tad crowded in here I think.))

The Night Before the Morning:

Raidek walked over the road examining the blood as the rain tried to cleanse the cloth he wore and all the other parts of his body that had been covered with the blood of his enemies. I’m not going to get far enough away if I keep going at this pace…I’m not even sure how long I’ve got before my description is out.

As he raised his hand, smoke began to pour out of Raidek’s summoning stone, the smoke slowly forming into Fenrir’s head and the body that follows, allowing the appearance of him walking out of the stone.

A deep, snarling erupted and suddenly snuffed itself out almost as if the animal were grunting at the plan Raidek had formed.

Raidek climbed up on top of the wolf and secured himself so that he may sleep and regain the energy he lost throughout the day. Fenrir took off, sprinting at his full speed covering ground almost as if he were flying, Raidek slowly, almost being rocked to sleep with the long strides of Fenrir’s run.

The Next Morning:

“Huh….” Raidek raised his masked head, looking around at the small fishing village ahead of him. This is a good thing. Now to change who I am.

The large wolf made his way to the trees and laid down and Raidek dismounted. And took a empty bag that was stored away and placed his damaged mask in it. Won’t be needing this for a while. Now for the next part… He took his chained sickle and put the blade to his hair cutting chunks out of it making it shorter and shorter until it varied between one and two inches.

He shook out his hair and held his hand up.

The wolf grunted in its low growl again and walked forward its head pushing against the stone as it turned into black smoke and disappeared.

Now for the fun part. Raidek moved into the sea side town, its dirt roads showing this wasn’t a tourist destination of any kind. Need to find a shop… He went into the first building that resembled even closely what he needed. It looked seemed to be more of a general store than anything else, but there were cotton cloths and though not quite what’d he’d like, they would work. Moving over to the counter he placed them on the counter and put down more than what the cost would be although it wasn’t much. “Could you help me miss, is there anyone around here looking for workers or a place where I could stay?”

(I’m leaving the response to you Stoic, but here is my post finally.)

"Are you kidding? Abandoning a friend at a time like this? That just doesn't fly with me." Vilya shrugged.
Tura sighed.

Vilya looked down at the map, unfolded in Sai's hands.
"I think you're right, and they'll be looking for Stratus in the sky too." She cast a glance at the brilliant orange plumage covering him from head to tail.
"He doesn't exactly fade into the background."
She stroked her chin thoughtfully with a gloved hand.
"That means we should stay away from this area completely, and flying with our creatures anywhere would be risky. We need somewhere close by, but totally unexpected. Hey!"

She placed a finger on the map.
"What about here? The sky docks? We could pay passage to an airship and go from there to wherever we want. It's due east from here and with luck, the guard won't have even thought about the docks yet, let alone make plans to seize them."

((Can airships exist in tis world? (probably should have asked that before this post) I'll change it if it doesn't work.))
PostPosted: Fri Aug 08, 2008 7:33 pm

"Well," Said the motherly looking merchant from behind the counter while sorting through the coins, she passed back the extras. "People at the docks are always looking for haulers for the fishing boats. And you might be able to something in one of the local inns stables. As for a place to stay, their are only three inns here, but they are all nice, and affordable for travelers. If you can't afford a room you may be able to do some minor work in exchange for a place in the stable lofts."

((I'm going to hold off replying to Griffin for now while she and I discuss the airship idea.))

Raidek smiled and gave a nod of understanding, “Thank you.” He left the store and the change on the counter, making his way to one of the inns the lady had mentioned.

After getting himself a room, he went up and laid his stuff out on what could best be described as a dresser and proceeded to change into the cloths he had picked up. No longer did he look like himself, but rather someone from a more different background, with a little work he might even seem like he was from the village. His black boots replaced by brown boots, the same color except a little lighter went for his pants and his shirt was long-sleeved and made of cotton. What is my new name…Erik? No, that’s a terrible name, Jacob? No…no…something that would actually suit me…James, that’ll do. James what though? Raidek gave it a bit of thought and could barely come up with a suitable last name for himself. James Hildt is what he finally came up with, and that would be what he told everyone. He pulled a pair of fingerless gloves onto his hands and left the inn for the docks.

Upon arriving Raidek noticed that few boats were actually in the harbor. Most of which were getting ready to head out, but there was one that looked as if it was out all night, maybe even longer than that. I’ll try them first… He made his way through the paths of various people to a fellow that looked to be the captain. “You need any help sir?”
PostPosted: Fri Aug 08, 2008 8:33 pm

The grizzled man turned to face Raidek. He was lean with graying hair and a short beard. He wore dark brown cloth breeches and dark brown leather boots with turned down tops. His shirt was white and he wore a green jacket with black anchors embroidered onto the collar. He wore a wide black hat and leaned heavily on a wooden cane that looked as though it had been carved from driftwood.

"Lookin', fer' a job are ye' boy? Can' say I don' need the help. Could always use more hands. Hate to say it, bu' the base pay ain' great. Though if ye' do a good job I'll give ye' a bonus. What say ye' boy?"

Raidek looked closely at the man, the look just to himself however. Money is money...cover is cover. "Yes sir, I'd be happy to have the job." Raidek extended his hand, "My names James Hildt sir."
