I would have to say that Cloud totally had a thing going for Aeris. The evidence is overwhelming when Cloud falls and wakes up in the flower patch with Aeris standing over him it's the same flower patch that is Clouds sanctuary in FFVII: AC. When Kadaj tears up the place you can see this small filker of complete and total anger in Cloud's eyes that just says " YOU ***HOLE! YOU JUST DESTOYED MY SANCTUARY!" The fact that Cloud uses that particular spot where he first had to protect Aeris as his sanctuary after she is killed just goes to show that he totally had some type of romantic feeling for her going on.

The reason Cloud lives in the Church in AC is because noone lives in Midgar anymore, so he can be alone and at peace, away from everyone else. Its also is because its a familiar location to Cloud. And if Cloud felt so bad about the flowers, he wouldnt have done a powerslide across them.

I agree with you Twin Rd Dragon Cloud had a thing for Aeris becouse if he didn't he woudn't be putting it on himself her death. He was blaminh himself all the time in AC exept when he died and was with her and Zach...
and it was the realization from Aeris that it wasn't his faoult that gave him the power to fight again. ninja

Well I watched the movie very closely and had to rewind it a couple of times but I totally saw a raging fire of anger in his eyes when Kadaj intruded on his sanctuary. but why is it at the beginning of the movie Tifa says that Cloud isn't there anymore. That means that he lives there so the church is his sanctuary where he can be with Aeris' presence.

He was guilty for Aeris' death, and it would not leave his mind. Honestly I think there is more of a connection with Tifa as they had their childhood together and all their romantic encounters. Also Tifa was always there for Cloud, while Aeris was only interested in him because she saw Zack in him, thus gave her a false sense of love. Also in Advent Children, if you notice she looks at him as more of a mother/gaurdian angel, then a lover. She is with Zack now, so yeah.

I truly believe that he is has some romantic feeling for her and you could be right that now that she's dead she could be like his guardian angel guiding him through out that movie. He isnt running from his past, but it is destroying his will to live or do anything really. He left to hide the Geostigma and because of that, he felt he was inadequete to defend any of the people he cared for.

And if you want to say that where he lives depicts who he loves, then since he lived with Tifa, Barrett, Marlene, Denzel, and the other orphans, he mustve loved them. His true home was there. He didnt leave there until the Geostigma truly took hold of him.

The anger you see in Clouds eyes could also be explained because Kadaj has Jenova, and that could lead to the reanimation of Sephiroth. They both knew that the introduction of Jenova cells into Kadaj would superpower Kadaj.

And youre so hellbent on him being with Aeris, are you blind to signs that could lead to him being with Tifa. Theres a fair share of evidence placing them together as well, but none of it will lead anywhere because itd be bad for the game and all future installments and would cause the loss of many, many fans.

First of all, they all would of had a raging look in their eyes if ANYONE tore up anything Aeris related. EVERYONE cared for Aeris, NOT.JUST.CLOUD. Tifa,Yuffie,Cid, anyone would of had the same reaction. Remember that Cloud and Tifa were LAYING together in that same 'sanctuary' as you claim. Cloud tried protecting Tifa in that very same 'sanctuary'. He's protected both girls in the exact same spot. He's lived in both girls' supposed 'sanctuarys' or 'homes' at one point and time. (At least in AC)

I mean because she has I guess you could say that type of vibe
she's sweet warm and nurturing
and Cloud calling her mother is more of showing that Cloud sees that side of Aerith
the side of her that can take care of Cloud, since really Cloud really is just a kid and as aerith, says a big one : D
