Orrin took off, finally.
He missed his Y-wing.
"Kef, quit toying around and get to work." Orrin said, boosting the engines to full towards the front of the convoy. He never locked his s-foils, and drained his sensors power to a bare minimum, keeping weapons charged in case for rapid deployment.
"Damn fighters have no sensor range like the Y. If I had known we were going to go through this barve, I would have demanded an LP. I feel like a naked duck right about now."
He pulled to the right, boosting more outwards taking point, etching further and further away from the convoy.

"Nothing out here it seems," Orrin stated, "I'll just go further on. If you see me flying as fast as I can back here, I found something."
Before he left, "Oh, new guy, I fill the a*****e quota on the team. No need for a surplus in that department."

"How's the sensors, dear?" Zendia cooed at Rusty, whom beeped a reply of mild annoyance. "Can you try to extend the range a bit? Maybe that will help," The little droid then complied. "I see," she sighed, with a mild annoyance of her own. Still, she didn't expect the Ison Corridor to be an Alderaanian cake-walk. "Still ... it's pretty," she noted, watching the swirling gasses of the void ahead.

Orrin noticed he was quite a distance away from the convoy, pulling a skew. Silence filled the air. It was space. Nothing could break the silence, except for them drattable engines. He already turned the coms off, after his sentence, out of spite for Kefka in case he was to say anything about his behavior.
"Young kid's got spirit... That won't win the war though." He muttered to himself, readjusting the power from the sensors to the shields. "I swear, these new ships rely more and more on having an astromech anymore. Whatever happened to good ol' manual control? I must be getting old to say that. Heck, I'm almost in the nebula. I wonder..." He said, entering the gaseous cloud and cutting energy to null.

All of a sudden, Orrin dissapeared off of Kefka's sensors.
"What the hell...?" he cursed as he opened a direct channel, only to no avail.
"The son of a b***h turned off his comm..that's against regulations.." he said to himself.
As he pulled his X-Wing into a turn to find him, he opened a channel to Zendia.
"Stardust, you're in charge for a bit, our buddy Icharus decided to vanish."
He quickly turned his attention to Icy who was tweedling in delight with the various gizmos on the X-Wing.
"Icy, we need full power to sensors, see if you can find our buddy Orrin..."

"Roger," Zendia replied. She then put the com out to the rest of the squad. "Ok, New Guy: take the aft section, while I go up front. Ten and Nine, resume your positions." She then quietly told Rusty, "I have a bad feeling about this, dear," Maneuvering her fighter to the front, she mused, What has gotten into Ol' Grumpy-Pants, anyway?

((Sorry I'm late everyone. I had finals all last week and was sick from my trip to Seattle the week before. Sumemr term starts next week and I only have one class so I should be on more.))
"Roger leader." Azure said as she took the starboard side of the ship. Like the others she quickly noticed how fast the ship accelerated. "Saphire, swicth more power to shields and sensors, I don't want to get this new bird destroyed." she told the driod.
She listend to the chatter of the other new pilot and smirked. "Ya know, your not the only new pilot here, but I suggest you keep your consentration on the mission."
When Zendia took over for Kefka she quickly commed her, "You got it Zendia"

Zendia couldn't help but crack a smile. "Thank you, Azure. And, I can relate to wishing to keep these new birds," she commented, recalling her own rough excursion through Yavin Four's stormtrooper infested jungle after her old Y-wing was shot down.

"It's not an issue of another X-wing," Zendia chimed in, more for the benefit of the new guy. "Pilots are far harder to come by. No amount of credits in the universe can replace a sentient life," Zendia also reflected on the latter question, coasting alongside the front of the frigate. "It is indeed risky. But hey, it could also be worse - it could be a black hole." "The gases in here sure do a number on the sensors," she commented. "I don't know what the old man was thinking going off on his own like that." Fool! What will your friend Amy say if you get yourself killed? she thought darkly, shaking her head. As they continued to fly, Zendia made note of a cloud in the shape of a cat. "Aww, Rusty, look at that - a kitty!" she called out to the little droid, whom gave out a happy hoot.

Orrin pushed further into the nebula.
"Its so quiet. But if an imperial fleet were here, I'd be detected by now." He turned his thrusters to full, and headed out of the nebula.
His X-wing popped out of the nebula, streaming gas behind it in trails, and headed back to the convoy. Opening the channels, he reported, "Nothing out there. At least, from what I've seen. Sometimes Imperial fleets will sit and wait in those nebulas, full destroyer worth of force, just itching to pounce on the rebels. I know at least one ship that fell into a trap like that." He meant the Tantive IV, which had met a similar fate.
"I think everyone's right. It will be a boring patrol."

"I think you better keep your eyes open and your ears alert. I'd rather not get caught in one of these things completely off guard. They aren't as forgiving as a Y-wing," Orrin replied, closing the coms again, to resist the urge to make any more retorts.
Taking his position as Emerald 12, which really meant no position at all, he kept the ship pacing back and forth between the front and the back.
