She knew she was close! She had to be. Zel had disappeared a bit ago, and she was rushing to catch up. Why? because she didn't want to get too far behind, and risk not... seeing him.
One more time. Just one more.
She just wanted to see him one more time. That wasn't too much to ask for, was it?
This second set of stairs was much harder. It seemed less stable in a way, and she felt like something was trying to force her back. However, she refused to give in. She had to continue and push on no matter what. Something inside would not let her even think about giving up.

Even as far ahead of him as the man was he was turning around and looking and just...respectable distance. Maintain a respectable distance. And possibly follow him to make sure he didn't prey on any innocent young women or something. It was not easy to shake guard training.

A world, around her. Olivia paused in her ascend. A world, with Molan. A world like what was before the Truce shattered everything. Happiness and no pain.
No, I don't believe you, she shook her head. She couldn't, not with all she had learned already from this Voice. How it was such a cruel game to him.
'I'll be disappointed because...!?' Did that voice just say he wasn't the one true king!? It had just offered to give him the world, now it was insulating him!?
The thought of her favorite beverage - and saving her friend, of course - spurring her on, Gene continued to climb the stairs at a breakneck pace.
"Remember your Kingdom, and why you were created into this world. Without it you will be lost. Without it you will become discarded and thrown away. You are a fragment that I created. Without me, you will cease to exist in this world."
She shook her head, noticing how far off the Voice sounded now. It was losing it's power, it's hold over her. She didn't much care to exist in this world anyway - she wanted Amity, and Halloween, and even the Horsemen and Hunters. She wanted her home, not this ruse.

A sigh from the voice perhaps? Uhg, how dare it. HE was the one troubled by this thing, by needing to fulfill it's requests!
Molan tossed his head slightly, hoping the thing could hear his annoyance. He only looked for an end to this, he wanted nothing more. Let him remain as he should have been. A fragment shouldn't exist, it should die. Simple as that. They were all discarded trash, he little better than the rest. Perhaps a shining example of what one could be, not that weakness was discarded, but still rubbish was rubbish.
How sad to know he was reduced to such. At least of the fakes he was the real one. The true remnant of a hollow shell.

The bright brilliant blue now a grayed hue almost. He was covered in a pale gray garb, a scarf wound loosely to create a hood. His face shadowed. His clothing was simple, so simplistic. His hair loose in the back. There were no ties, and little beauty was left. Merely the white haired man waiting for the end. He cares not for your battle, it's obvious such things no longer matter.
He continued on, but his pace began to slow ever so slightly, if either by the voice that had begun chattering away again in that annoying way that it had, or by the heavy weight that seemed to bare down on him, or by a desperate want for Yin to catch up with him again, it was hard to say.

As soon as she reached the final step in this portion of their journey, a look of relief washed over her face. She reached for Zel and kissed him, as long as they had time for, before relinquishing her grip and proceeding with another silent sigh.
As a second thought, however, she reached out to grab his hand back. She didn't want to risk being split up, not this time, not now. How many stairs had they climbed, just trying to make it to forever?
Most importantly, this would be a b***h to sled down.
Her steps were more careful. Slower. Sluggish. She was feeling tired, feeling that heavy weight warning her back. But damnit, she'd come this far already! How could she possibly turn back? Even if she was starting to question if there had been some truth to the Voice's words? But... no there couldn't be. The Voice was just desperate... and losing the battle with each step she took. Or the shadows took.
Almost there. Just a little farther...

Her progress was understandably slower by now, she was starting to feel so very tired. Whisper had to push, she couldn't give up. Not now, she'd come so far and had so much further to go.

Kashi practically bolted up the next 25 steps. How dare the voice insult him! He didn't even care how true it was at this point! He moved forward, vague musings of Molan in only a tangle of sheets roaming the back of his mind.
Trip. Crash. Silent cursing and wild hand gestures.
