Mathias wiped down his sword blade with an oiled cloth after his practice in the main yard. He sweated from his recent exertion, but enjoyed the feeling of pleasantly tired muscles after a good workout. The blade gleamed in the sunlight as he cleaned and polished it carefully, checking for any knicks in the edge he might have missed and smiled while doing so. Doing anything worth while brought a smile to his face, unlike the boredom he had been forced to endure lately. His first mission had been quite successful, but since then he hadn't had a decent mission since. A few patrols, a few mistaken fiend sightings... nothing at all exciting. He hoped to prove himself on his own, and show the other Hunters that he wasn't there just because he was General Valenti's son. He sighed as he slid the sword back into it's scabbard and slung it over one shoulder casually as he headed back into the compound. Something had to happen soon, or he might go mad with boredom.

"Yeah, it has been a bit lately. Seems like all of the teams are getting shuffled every other mission lately. Maybe we should just go back to what Sean says they used to do. Each Hunter and Guardian was independent, or maybe worked in pairs. When they came up with a job they just picked a couple of people to go with them and that was that. Nice and informal right." William said as he and Kiro walked out of the building and onto the walks. The two Hunters took the walk around the Arena and came around the south side.
"Hey, speak of the devil." William said as they saw Mathias walking across the grounds. He looked to be coated in sweat, and had his sword slung over one shoulder. "Hey, Mathias!" William called out to him
((And, Adam, I miss having all of our members around too. Seems like everybody got busy with school or something. Seems like an excuse to me, you go to school and still find time to post. All of the characters are still around, we just need to use them. Though I did briefly mention one in this post. Sean, he's one of the most Veteran Hunters in the Corps. I haven't ever really used him much, he's kind of a mentor to William.))

(( It still gets tough since so much goes on, it gets difficult remembering everything. That goes for me anyway. I need to find a job this Fall so I can start living something more stable in my college area... ))
As William called out to Mathias, Kiro whispered quickly to him. "I know he's our new partner, but don't mention anything about that previous night when assassins came for me. Information on Axis is to stay between us." Kiro spoke quite quickly.
"Hey Mathias! We just returned." Kiro announced right afterward. Kiro approached Mathias and eyed his sword. "I guess this means each of us in our team will be wielding a blade now." Kiro stated, hinting to Mathias that they were now being paired together.

Mathias heard his name called and turned, breaking into a wide smile as he did so and waved to William and Kiro. He didn't really know them too well, but they seemed like alright guys to him. He waited as they approached, and then blinked at Kiro's words. He looked at his sword hanging from his shoulder and shrugged,"Oh, yeah I guess so..." he began to say, and then realized just what Kiro had said,"Wait, team? We are a team now? ALRIGHT!" he gave a whoop of excitement, fist pumping the air a few times before clapping William and Kiro on the shoulder,"This is great! Finally a chance to go out and actually do something! Do we have a mission?"

"Yep, we're a team. Just assigned now. I don't know of any missions yet though, sorry. Maybe we can see what your blade can do over our resting period." Kiro replied, but swiftly getting out from under Mathias shoulder grasp. "Just a tip, try not to sneak up behind me. Certain instincts take over. Aha. "Kiro laughed.

Mathias laughed,"Hah! a sparring match? Your on, Kiro. I think you'll beat me though, as I hear your really good." He looked from Kiro to William and back again,"I also heard you just got back, so maybe tomorrow, or later if your feeling up to it. In the mean time I've been training all morning and could really go for some grub. Have you guys eaten yet?"

William also slipped out from under Mathias grasp and smiled as he watched his two partners conversed. Kiro could be pretty grim sometimes, though even from the little William knew of his history, he had good reason. Though even Kiro seemed to lighten up a bit around Mathias. The kid was cheerful. Maybe a bit naive, not that that was necessarily a bad thing, and he'd grow out of it quick in their line of work anyways.
"No, we haven't eaten. Maybe we should go and do that, then afterwards you and Kiro can get in that sparring match." William said, still smiling as he started leading the way towards the cafeteria.
And maybe while these two are distracting each other in the ring I can go and find Sean...

Kiro finally remembered that hadn't eaten for quite some time after William's suggestion. "Oh yeah! I totally forgot. I could really go for some meat!" Kiro shouted embarrassingly loud and then completely took off full sprint to the cafe, leaving his two team members behind.

Mathias blinked at Kiro's reaction and looked sideways at William when he ran off towards the mess hall. After a moment, Mathias just shrugged, hitched his sword a bit on his shoulder and started after him at an easy walk with William beside him,"You'll have to tell me all about your last mission. I bet it was exciting!" he said with a grin," I sure hope we get some good ones..." he trailed off and left it at that. He didn't want to actually voice his concern that the upper officers of the Citadel might be coddling him because of his father.

"There'll be plenty of time to regale you with our exciting adventures once we've got some food in front of us." William said.
The two of them walked into the cafeteria a few minutes later. William walked over and began dishing himself heaping portions of mashed potatoes, vegetables, and slices of roast meats. He smothered the whole works in gravy and grabbed a glass of water and utensils as he passed by the woman who would record his meal in the ledger.
William walked over to his and Kiro's usual table and sat down. He took up his fork and spoon and set into his meal with fervor.

Kiro was already stuffing his face as William sat down. "I forgot this was the reason why I joined up as a hunter!" Kiro said with a mouthful of half-chewed food.
Kiro then yawned wide and stretched as much as he could as he cleared his plate."That was amazing after that mission. I didn't think I would have to use a Kyto."

Mathias sat down at that moment, already chewing on a small, warm bun of bread,"What's a Kyto?" he asked around the food in his mouth before swallowing it with a gulp of water to wash it down. His plate was just as full as William's, with much of the same assortment. He started into the food, his eyebrows still raised in question at Kyro.

Kiro almost forgot that his new partner had no idea William and his own abilities were.
"Hmmm, a Kyto is an eye technique of mine. I have two others called Lydon and now Shyto. They each have their own effects. I don't feel like explaining to you how they work yet since I feel like that would ruin a lot of fun." Kiro explained with a smirk. "But if I use Kyto on someone in a one on one battle to the death, its an almost guaranteed that I will take their head off." Kiro added, finishing his plate.

Mathias choked a little on a swallow of food at Kyro's words," Wow! Thats amazing! No wonder your talked about among the junior Hunters...your practically unbeatable with moves like that!" He grinned and kept shoveling food into his mouth between words," I hope I can give you a workout when we spar...sounds like I won't be much of a challenge though."

"Speaking of sparring." William said as he set his fork down on his now empty plate and pushed it away a bit. "I'm ready to go. Since it looks like you two still have a ways to go on your own meals I think I'll go ahead."
William stood and took up his plate. He dropped it off near the kitchens and left the cafeteria. He made his way out the west exit, so that Kiro and Mathias wouldn't wonder, then doubled back around the building and headed for the Veteran Dormitory.
When William arrived he was greeted by several of the Veterans. William was well known around the Corps. and his friendship with Sean was no secret either. One of the Vets informed him that Sean was down at the Rec. Center so William adjusted course and headed there instead.
He made it to the Recreation Center and found Sean in one of the open air areas. The older Hunter had his sword in hand and was doing forms. William decided to give him a moment to realize that he had company. It wasn't a good idea to approach a focused master swordsman unannounced. Sean continued his patterns for a moment, looking slightly odd in his sandals, short baggy pants, and loose flower printed shirt.
Sean finished a set and then sheathed his sword. "William, thanks for waiting." He said as he turned to regard him. "Uh-oh. What'd you do?" He asked, concern crossing his features.
"I broke my father's sword." William confessed.
"How bad?"
"Just a crack in the blade, the reinforcements would probably hold it together, but I don't want to risk it."
"So you retired it. And your mother's sword too. Understandable I suppose." Sean said. He took i the sight of William with only his nodachi riding his hip. "So, what exactly do you need form an old Hunter?"
"I was hoping you could help me retrain. I think it's time I quit dividing my attention and focus on a single blade. This one." William said, patting the swords scabbard.
"It's a little bigger than I'm used to. But then again, if you could handle your father's broadsword one handed wielding this blade two handed should be no problem for you." Sean said and drew his blade again. "Draw your blade and let's see what you've got."
