(( Rolling to Tie knot, DC of 10))

(( These dice hate me, I mean REALLY REALLY hate me, I rolled four times, 3, 3, 1, 1))

Bruhan grunts and looks to Damien who is sleeping "Won't bother waking him, might as well keep trying" he mumbles.

OOC: You don't have to roll for ordinary, everyday things. Only if it's important to the plot, adds drama, or something out of the ordinary do you need to rool.

so I head back with my new items and head to the man that sent us on this excursion and i ask "who is it we are looking for in this town"

(Technically, it all depends on our environment. If there's grass or trees I can make a bed using that.)

"Okay, I'm packed." said Electrix.

Damien stirred from his light slumber.

"We about ready to leave yet?" He said, both a little tired and impatient. He did not know why. He wanted to leave, for the first time in his life he wanted to leave a home. But this time he had the knowledge that he was coming back... maybe.

After reminding you that you need to find the human druid Joran the Blind at a place called Furguth's Mound (thought I had mentioned it earlier, seems I hadn't), your mentor bids you farewell, and your journey begins.

Progress is good at first, the weather is clear, and the snow is not too deep. But as you get farther from home, the snow gets deeper and the sky starts to look threatening.

As the afternoon is starting to wane, Hurgun calls a halt. "We have perhaps two hours of daylight left -- not enough to reach Forest's Edge at our pace. Should we camp before then, or press on?"

Reaching the village of Forest's Edge would be much nicer than sleeping in tents, and safer, too. Plus, you got a later start than you would have liked on the trail, you haven't been hiking for so long that trying to reach it tonight would tire you out. The extra distance would be helpful to have, especially if it snows during the night, making travel harder for tomorrow -- and it looks like it will start to snow within several hours. And in a building is a better place than in a tent to be during a snowstorm.

On the other hand, travel after dark isn't the wisest idea. You could get lost, or not see a hazard ahead of you. And many animals hunt at night. The darkness slows travel considerably, as well, though you will at least have good moonlight. But if it snows sooner than you expect, even a tent is a better place to be than hiking.

As an alternative, you could try picking up your pace. You could move at twice your current speed for an hour without trouble, and longer than that if you push yourself -- but you'll wear yourselves out if you go for too long. Nothing that a good night's sleep won't be able to fix, though.

You think you have between one and two hours of daylight left. Because of the snow slowing you down in some areas and not others, you estimate that you've been traveling between one and two miles an hour. If the now cover doesn't change, it doesn't get dark, and you don't deliberately change your pace, it seems reasonable to believe that you'll continue at this speed. You think that the village is less than five miles away.

What should you do?

OOC: Rules that may help you:

Ask if you need clarification on any rules, those are a slight simplification. But this situation should help you understand how movement works.

He did some math in his head.
"Unless we speed up, there's no way that we could make it to the city before dark. However, it would be nice to have a warm bed instead of a buried tent."

He felt the snow coming in his bones, chills ran up and down his spine. He had a sort of sixth sense when it came to danger. Something bad was going to happen and soon. He knew it.

"Well having an Alchemist isn't all bad, I have a few sunrods if we decide to move through the night. But I believe we should take a vote. I say we keep moving to Forest's Edge.
PostPosted: Fri Aug 10, 2007 10:35 am

Bruhan quickly considered what the group faces "Most of our party can see in the dark, so the sunrods may not be needed as long as you keep pace between us, however the chance of us getting attacked in our run for the town is pretty good, thats when you might need one. Between all of us we could make camp here and start in the morning, trading watch so everyone gets some sleep, But taking the weather into consideration we might get snowed on and our progress through the forest further slowed in either course of action."

"It is all up to you, I will follow your decision regardless" he finished.

(( Where is everyone? ))

Leokul pulled bow from his back, aiming it high into the sky, he mocked the movements of drawing an arrow, after a good while he let the string loose and let his bow fall to his side. Turning his eye to the others he slowly opened his mouth, many times, as to say something but closing it just as sound came out. This lead to many strange faces on Leokul's part, tightening his face on one side but loose on the other, all to show he was thinking on what he would say.

Finally after many awkward moments, he finally found the word he was looking for,"Scout.." he trailed off, even so he was speaking quietly, only a murmur. Though, he looked very pleased with his idea, and though he hadn't said it fully he had two ideas.

The first, would be for scouting, he would break off for 15-25 minutes to check the area ahead. Mostly to see if the ground was good for running so they could move forward or make a tent. He'd make a run for it there and probably fire an arrow to let them know where he was. But he secretly wanted to have some wandering beast find him. To at least prove to himself he was ready for this adventure. Even at the behest for his life.

He truly was a loon...

Though his second idea, was a little better, and more edged to making camp here. He personally had no problem during snowstorms, and was able to weather the hardest blizzard, so he didn't mind staying. He never really said it but his trailing off implied that he had more to say, he was just too lazy to say it.

The main concept of his second suggestion would be to...

[No, I know what his second idea is, I just didn't post it, yet...waiting.]

"Well aren't you the talkative one. Come on, there's more to it then that man. Spit it out."

Leokul, if he remembered his name correctly, obviously had more complex things to say than a single word. But if it took him that long then maybe it wasn't that he had more. More that his first idea simply iluded him in the deep recesses of that empty head of his. Rangers, bah.

"Well?" Damien asked impatiently. "The longer we sit here the less daylight we have." The sun had already begun to sink towards the horizon.

Turning an eye to..

Who was it? Ah, hm.. I don't seem to- Dan? Dirn? Danetscopolitatily? Was that a word? Nevermind!

..Damien, Leokul's face suddenly burned up into what looked like a fit of rage. Though it was exactly what was needed to get him to talk. Not angry, but more feeling more passionate about his ideas he pointed a ways down the road and opened his mouth to speak, but quickly shut it.

He had.. a small case of denial. He wasn't sure if he should say his first idea, as that would sound like a generally useless idea, but he would still do it(even though he might've been unsure how to). Then he thought about his second idea, just quick thoughts, not much to get anyone to notice.

Making a the quick decision to say both he opened his mouth and turned towards the group,"Well, most of us have furs and wool clothes, yes? IF we did get caught in a snowstorm out here, we could wrap the tents with them," Shifting his worn wool cap to one side of his face he continued,"though as we don't all have tents we'd probably have to share them. Removing the only insulators we have will also more susceptible to the cold during the night though, even might shrink our only protection due to the snow." Removing his cap, like a frenzied child, he ruffled the thick white locks that was his hair, then softly placed the cap perfectly on the crop of his head.

Closing his eyes and taking a moment, Damien was right, and he didn't have time to take pause. "My second idea is that I could scout out ahead for just awhile. 10-20 minutes tops, just to see if the snow ahead was proper for running across. We don't want any accidents if we try to run to the Forest's Edge."Looking down at the blinding snow, he stomped three times, hearing it crunch underneath his boots. Moving his head up, looking very pleased with himself, he finished,"I personally go for the latter."

[[If you want him to need to, but since it's neither plot related, doesn't really add dramatic tension, and isn't especially difficult, it wouldn't merit a roll unless you only want to be overheard by those who make the check.]]
