i am against the death penalty. mainly because if a sick and horrible person killed like all of my children(if i had any) i wouldnt want them to get the ez way out i would want them to suffer everysingle day of their twisted life. i also think that murderers should be forced to work. it keeps them active. and i dont mean a desk job i mean hard backbreaking work. if somebody killed all my kids or somethin im just sayin thats wut i would want. dying is eazy its livin thats the hard part!!!!

also ppl that feel remorse 4 wat they did i think shouldnt have 2 face the death penalty

i also would like to state that some ppl are sent to death and then years later ppl found out they were innoccent!!!!! now that is wrong!!!!!!

About the rehabilitation comment. You can't change someone who isn't willing to change. And most aren't. They are the ones who go out and become repeat offenders. Some are willing...but most aren't.

If rehabilitation is not possible, then they should remain in prison for life, but not to be killed. The death penalty is as bad as murder.

For the record, I support educating prisoners as well as compulsory labor. Every prisoner should have a "9-5" job within the prison. They should work six days a week for free with 7 vacation days including national holidays. Sick days should be taken out of the vacation days. Prisons should have products that are produced from local materials, then sold nationally, if not internationally as well. All profits will go toward the costs of running a prison. If all costs are met, the profits then will be used to assist in the funding of public education and public works projects (such as bulding or repairing roads or building parks). All prisoners will be required to go to weekly therapy and rehabilitation work shops.
With this system, criminals are no longer a threat to society. Since they've gained an education, therapy and rehabilitation (in every case possible), they can, upon release, become productive, peaceful, free members of society. If rehabilitation fails and their sentence is finished, they will relocated to a new city, set up with a group home and have daily meetings with a parole officer. If the prisoner shows signs of rehabilitation after 6 months, the meetings will be reduced to twice a week. After another six months, once a week. After a year, once a month. After two years, once every three months. After this final transition, if the convict has continuously shown signs of progressing rehabilitation, then they will only have to meet with a parole officer once a year for the next nine years. After that, if they've only shown improvement, they will be let go.

If they become a repeat offender, their original sentence is doubled or tripled depending on the severity of the crime. Rape and Murder criminals get life in prison no matter what. Women can be convicted of rape.

If signs of rehabilitation are never shown, they will be returned to the prison to work indefinitely--until signs of rehabilitation (if these appear, they will join the parole program) or natural death. They will continue weekly therapy and rehabilitation training.

Those in the parole program also will have to go to a once weekly support group meeting for convicts for the entirety of their parole and they must complete two hundred hours, over the entire course of parole, of unpaid volunteer work.

That's what I want.
I agree with you totally. This was actually really well thought-out, I couldn't have said it better myself. With your suggestion the people in prison are no longer threatening other citizens and they're actually being punished. We really oughta have more people like you in office.

its a good plan i really like it....but no 7th day off and no vacation... PPL NEED TO REMEMBER THAT WE PAY FOR PRISONNERS TO LIVE AND EAT THEY SHOULD PAY 4 IT BY THEMSELVES AND GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually according to that, the prisoners would be working to pay off their debts such as housing, food, etc.

i don't think people should get the death penalty, unless they brutally murdered a person or persons.

I think that people who rape and murder their victims should be sentenced to death.

Beaten to death by the family of the lost loved one with sticks and stones.

Make people think twice about that crime.

I agree, they should really think about what they are doing to that individual and to the family. They need too think twice.... wahmbulance

I agree that prisoners should be working and shoud have some vacation time and all that. The only thing that I don't agree with in that is where the profits go. A lot of it should go to help keep the prison running, sure, but in some cases, the person in jail is the only member of a family who works. The system some prisons currently operate on gives the prisoner some money to send back home to pay the bills and put food on the table. We aren't trying to punish the families here, only the offenders.

I'm against it: Don't give them the release of death. From a religious standpoint (Not that I am religious), it would actually be better to have the death penalty because, if they did it, they'd go to hell, and if they were innocent, they'd go to heaven.

You forgot one thing: human nature desires the freedom of choosing own life and how to live it. In prison you really can do that.
Did you watched at all the 30 days, when Spurlock was that 30 days in prison? God, you are killing already prisoners in boredom. How you suppose to accuse that the prisoners won't suffer there at all?
Have there been a dramatical drop of Texas' crime rates? Nop. Any other states crime rates? Nop. So what's the use of killing them? Oh, I forgot, you want get rid of the over crowded prisons. Why don't we make a law, which allows genocide in same time?

About the topic: Against. Why? It's just easy way for the criminal as in theory. He/she doesn't get a change to think about what he has done and even encourages to do more, like killing CEO's. Is that a better option than giving another change to live how the society wants.

This is something that I really don't know if I am for or against.

Part of me thinks, well why should we show that murder is wrong by murdering someone else.
Why should we stoop to their level.
Why should we give them the easy way out.

But the other part of me thinks we need the death penalty because prisons are getting to full.
We don't want to risk these sicko's getting back on the streets.

So, I really don't know which way I go here.

The death penalty? Oh I am so for that.
I'm for it for some various reasons.
Is it fair for someone to live and be put on paroll when they've raped then murdered some defenseless boy/girl/woman? I don't think so.
Is it fair for someone to live, when they've dragged someone to death? I don't.

Plus, people think the death penalty is inhumane. Well wait a second, weren't the acts they commited inhumane to their victums?
Why by george, yes it was! So they should get the death penalty like the chair, hanging, or a more violent way that they inhumanely killed their victum?

o.O I put way to much thought about this topic...

I have no idea what your replying to, as I have several quotes in this topic. But simply, I'm for it, for those reasons I have already stated. I have no idea where you got genoside from.

You're assuming that they just automatically get put on parole. If I'm right, that kinda takes a while. Also, you haven't even thought of how easy it is to die but how much harder it is for them to be punished. Sure death, would get them off the streets, but will they get the punishment they truly deserve seeing as the "inhumane" way of execution has been outlawed?

Yes they should. So long as they get a violent death like they gave their victums.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 13, 2007 8:40 pm

But we know that the law isn't going to give them that violent death, so what then?

Well they should. If there making the death penalty legal. You can't predict the future. But even injection without anastesia would be fine. Atleast they'd suffer some.
