((oh, and weekends aren't so good for anymore, and not much after 5)) "Ha! Take that you stupid pile of bones!" Sasha yelled out euphoriclly. She went over and kicked the now collapsed pile of bones before sinking down next to it. "I'm kind of tired" she complained to Renzt and held up her hand which was now covered in blood from holding the cut on her side. "I don't suppose you have any bandages? I kind of forgot mine..."

Renzt sighed. He was pretty weary from battle...but they'd learned a whole lot along the way. Like the fact that lightning hurts like a b***h. It does. BTW.
"Uh...not really...we can try to make some clothing strips, if you want. You know what? Why don't we set up camp where we are and I'll see what I can do? I don't have a tent or anything, but the ground here's pretty soft...and we've got enough clothing to keep us warm, right? Yeah. Let's set up camp."

The bandages worked well; Renzt had cut them from the right sleeve of his jacket. It was easy to see why he was doing so well as a fighter. For an old man, he had some beastly muscles!
Anyway, it was time to hit the road again. Onward North!
[You may resume traveling.]

((sorry, i've been having like a brain block... Oh, and tomorrow, friday, and saturday i might only be on for a sec... sweatdrop ))
Sasha slowly truged up the path to, well, North, feeling somewhat apprehensive. What if this was all just some elaborite set up plan, and whenever she got to New York, she was going to be cut up and fed as a peace offering to the local monster. Or maybe it liked to chase its prey around before eating, or just nibble while they were still alive - Sasha shook her head violently, getting rid of all the scenes her definitly overactive imagination was cooking up. She'd probably get eaten by something before she even got there anyways.
Sasha terrorised herself for a few more minutes before deciding to distract herself with something else instead. She ran ahead of Renzt and hunted around before finding what she wanted, a nice long dry stick. What better way to pass the time than to practice some thing? She focused her gaze on the end farthest from the one that she was holding, and concetrated on how she had felt before, when she had managed to do this while fighting.

[You've been improving! Nice.]
The stick burst into flames.
(-4 MP)
As you trudged on, pushing through rockier terrain, you began to notice a few signs of nearby life.
The first was a sign. It was simple, and carved of wood.
But it was a sign.
The thing read -
Pallon Town
20 miles NNE
Sweet. That was like...a day of traveling, maybe less.

((Oh, and I've finally decided, i want the item, and <>, will I ever know what it does, or will I have to use it to find out?))
Sasha let out a cheer when she saw the stick catch and proudly held it out to Renzt. "Isn't this so awsome! I can so kick evil guy butt now!" She laughed and turned back around, looking for a safe place to extinguish the crackiling stick. She finally found a spot that looked like nothing would catch fire when she saw a pole sticking out of it. She followed it to its top and saw a sign delcaring that a town was getting close.
While Sasha was reading the sign, she had accidently held the burning end of the stick too near the sign. She realised that id had caught fire! She looked nervously back and saw that Renzt was still coming, so she quickly smothered it with her shirt, and making carefully sure that she wasn't on fire, she dug the stick into the dirt where it would burn out, heaping it with more dirt just to be sure. She laughed guiltliy when Renzt came, but he didn't seem to notices, so she forgot about it. She looked up at the sky, and searched for the sun, than turned to Renzt. "Do you think we can make it? It will still be a while before we get their, and its almost midday" doubt coloring her voice.

[You're doing well...I like your style. The item basically makes sure nothing ever attacks you in forests. And the item will come shortly. Good choice. Oh, and this will be a quick, less detailed response by me, since I've got so much to tend to right now. Sry.]
Renzt looked quizzically at the girl. She was weird. Even weirder than he. Kinda. OK, maybe not.
"Well, why don't we try? Come on, let's get to this place..."

-Much, much later that day-
"Ugh...I'm beat...good thing there were no fights along the way, huh Sash? I think...OH WOW! We're here!"
They were, indeed. In front of them lie a cozy little villa, warm with lights against the night sky. Few voices could be heard, and the two just felt good knowing they had found shelter. The town may have been small, by it sure was inviting. The road lay just up ahead.
"Come on, let's go!" Renzt was really excited to get to a bed. Grabbing the girl's arm, he dashed toward the town.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Renzt scanned the streets for a place to sleep, Sasha in tow.
"Inn...inn...where are youuuuuu?OH! The...Sleepy...Toad....yeah, that seems about right."
Lugging the girl through the heavy oaken door, he entered the green toadstool-shaped tavern...
The place was quiet. Aside from an old man scrubbing down some sort of reception desk, it was empty too. As soon as he saw the travelers' faces, though, he snapped to attention.
"AH! Customers! What can I do fer ya?"
Renzt explained the situation and secured a room for $20, one-fourth of the money he'd brought for the trip...and took the pyromancer upstairs...

Sasha took one look at the bed, and decided that she was never going to leave. She saw no insects of any sort, no twigs, leaves, or dirt to caught in her hair, and a real honest to goodness pillow! She fell into the bed and was asleep before she noticed anything else.
When she finally woke up the next morning, Sasha looked around confused. She must still be dreaming, no way she was in a real bed. Finally deciding that she was awake, she took a long bath in the tub she had just glimpsed the other night, and than went downstairs to eat food that wasn't too raw or burnt from her cooking skills. She ate, waiting for Renzt to come down, and wndering if maybe she could get him to agree to stay here a few more days...

Renzt slowly...and grimly....walked down the stairs. His steps were heavy, his face...pallid.
He only said one word as he stared coldly into your eyes...
Janus.

"Janus? Who the ******** is Janus? You didn't piss of some rich dude who is now coming to kill you did you? Is that why you actually came on this trip? Should I be worried? I mean I didn't do anything to him, maybe he'll just let me leave." Sasaha rambled on in this manner for a minute more before finally asking "Why don't you just tell me who Janus is?"

Renzt just smiled and indicated a small dart stuck through the side of his neck. It wasn't much, but the precise blow had obviously carried some sort of toxin in it, spreading what seemed to be a massively draining infection throughout the old man's body.
J...Janus...
His body began to seizure as he fought through massive swarms of pain. His near paralyzed left arm quivered as he forcefully brought it up in the air, pointing through a mildly sunlight window...off into empty, rolling hills. It seemed to be his last attempt to identify his murderer...
And with that...he collapsed on the floor.
Lifeless.
[Congratulations on reaching Chapter IV: A World Gone Mad! Don't be alarmed by your low level; you will have your own FATE-like experience soon. And, to Kunai: you may begin. Be vague in your descriptions of origin/current location. I want to get a feel for how you play him before I decide things like that.]

Sasha screeched for a second when she saw Renzt fall and the dart in his neck. She yelled for someono come and help, but knew it was too late. The only thing she could do now was bury him and go after the guy that had done this. She wasn't as terribly broken about his death as some might expect, after all, she had only know him for a little while, but still, she was tired of poeple dying around her, and this was not going to go unpunished. She sighed and rummaged through Renzt's pockets, taking the money that was left, beofre getting her bag and leaving the inn, forlornly thinking about the bed that she was leaving.
