*Spirit felt a cold wind brush against her skin which sent shivers down her spin. Spirit had spent most of her life reading the signs of nature and something about the air was not normal, it felt polluted and heavy, like something had made the balance tilt. Spirit tried to move again but it seemed that Maya still had control over her body. She cursed under her breathe, if someone was trying to cross the line between humankind and nature, then she would have to do something, if she didn’t then things could get really screwed up. She looked down at her pouch, if only she could reach her book, she just might be able to stop who ever was trying to interfere with nature. She was about to try and break the bond again when she heard her name being called, and it sounded like it was coming from Maya. Anger started to build up inside her, she pushed it away, if she wanted to stop whatever was going on, she would have to make Maya let go of her, “Maya! Something’s wrong, I don’t know what it is, but if I don’t fix it then I’m sure the outcome will not be a good one.” She took a deep breathe , she was going to hate what she was going to say next, but it might be the only way, “Please Maya, let me go, I promise I won’t run away.” She waited to see what Maya planed to do.*

*Oh, something is wrong alright, thought Maya. Everyone disappeared except for her and Spirit. But there was something queer, something wrong with the environment. She didn't know what is was, but atleast she could tell that it wasn't the Dark. Spirit said she knew how to fix it, and she promised she would not run away. Maya did not know whether she should believe her. Then it occurred to Maya that she never really trusted anyone. In her town, she had been brought up never to believe what she saw or heard, unless the leaders said that they were trustworthy. Everyone was a suspect, anyone could be a traitor. Well, the leaders weren't around to tell her that now. She would have to do her own thing, and for once, trust another person, and trust herself. Maya sighed and reluctantly let Spirit go. "Do your thing," Maya said dismissively.

*Spirit felt her body as Maya released her, her shoulders felt stiff but she didn’t really care, as long as she had control over her own body again. She didn’t have time to worry about stiff shoulders, without another thought she ran over to the nearest tree, she didn’t know why, but being near something that was close to the earth somehow increased her power. Once she reached the tree she pulled out her and opened it to a certain page, then she leaned her head against the tree, as if to whisper something to it. She placed her hand on the picture in the book, it was a drawing she had done some time ago. It was a picture of a large meadow, the long grass was being blown by the fierce wind, and in the middle of the meadow there was a large tree, vines where tightly wrapped around its trunk. She took a deep breathe in and then slowly began to whisper, “mother of the earth please allow my winds to knock who ever is trying to become one with you off there feet, let the vines bind them to this tree, for I shall let no tow legger destroy the balance you have created for us.” With that she pulled her hand up, away from the book, releasing the picture bond to its page. Suddenly the wind began to, whipping she hair around her face, slowly she stepped away from the tree she was leaning on and through the fast moving wind, she saw the vines of the tree slowly wrap around its trunk, holding whoever had started this mess tightly. She knew the vines would not loosen, not unless she told them to. AS the winds began to clam down, Spirit took a small step forward, she didn’t quite know what she was going to do, she had to make sure this person never tried to mess with the balance of nature again, but how she would do that, she had no idea.*

*Aly`s heart beat grew louder with every new second that passed. The time was growing near, but not yet quite there. Everything had to be perfect, not one blade of grass could be out of place, or it would ruin the balance. It was hard for Aly to think differenly about herself. To think that she was a person that deserved to live and enjoy life. She had grown up with no one. Everyone had always thought of her as a killer. Every storm, hurricane, disaster that happened that had killed or injured a vast amount of people, was her doing. Even her family had grown up to be distant from her, for they thought that if they came to close, they would be the outcome of her actions. That of course was not true. It was true that when she was upset, storms would occur, but she had always calmed herself before anyone had got hurt. That was why, she tried to remain as plain and as lifeless as possible. That way no one would ever become injured by her actions. Tears streamed down her face and soon, rain started to pour. However, unlike before, she was not able to control her emotions, for they had been bottled up inside of her all her life and they had finally erupted. The clouds grew grey and lightning struck to the ground, hitting a tree; which in turn hit her for she was nature. Aly`s cry grew louder, causing the thunder to sound at an alarming rate. Aly knew that the time was near, and it was only a few more moments. What she did not know was the storm that lurked upon Spirit and Maya. *

*Maya watched the next sequence of events without moving. They were some of the strangest she had ever seen. First as Maya let Spirit go, she saw her reach for her note book. She said a spell, touching a tree and then the tree seemed to regurgitate something. Vines wrapped around the trunk as the tree heaved furiously. But as if that wasn't strange enough, the sky suddenly turned a menacing shade of gray. Lighting flashed and thunder crashed overhead. Maya was not sure, but she thought she could hear a steady thumping, like a heartbeat. The wind whipped around them in circles. Maya focused her senses and found that the storm was only taking place within the bewitched dome. Something was very wrong, yet still, Maya could tell it was not the Dark. Who could be doing this? she thought. Or what.... she added, hoping it was the former. Then something happened to Maya that had never happened before. Something unheard of. She saw peoples faces flash before her. Their faces were not natural - they were a pale gray colour, and their features were sunken. Their eyes were filled with unthinkable sadness. It was a disturbing sight. Perhaps the most disturbing part was the fact that all the people she was seeing were dead. She screamed when she saw the face of her friend whom she had killed, and the scream got even louder when she saw Aly's face. Maya had absolutely no clue what was happening anymore. With Aly's face being the last one Maya saw, everything turned black.

*Spirit felt the wind increase and the dryness in the air become moist, her skin tingled as lightning raced across the sky. It didn’t feel right, it wasn’t a normal storm, but Spirit wasn’t concentrating on it, she didn’t notice when Maya screamed, she was fixed on the person who was slowly being caught by the vines of the tree she had called to. They still hadn’t come into view, which surprised her, it usually didn’t take this long, she could feel the magic she was using to bind them weaken. The shadow of the figure was become a little clearer but Spirit still couldn’t tell who it was, she took a step closer. Her hand that was holding onto her book shook, she didn’t know how much longer she could hold on, she took another step closer and she knew it was too much, the book slipped from her grip, falling to the ground. She let out a gasp as the bind she had fell apart, the black shadow exploded out towards her, surrounding her in darkness. Everything was quite, she couldn’t see, hear, or feel anything what so ever, she had been blinded of her senses. She stumbled and tripped over her feet, falling to the ground, if that was what she landed on, she couldn’t tell. Suddenly she felt a cold pressure on her cheek, as if someone held her face, and then a breath of a whisper on her ear which sent shivers down her spine. Then just as suddenly as it had come, it vanished, the wind, the wetness of the air, and the tingle of electricity came rushing back at her. She blinked, letting her eyes get use to the light and then slowly stood up and rested her head against the tree trunk as she tried to clear her head. She thought of the whisper that was spoken to her, it had been in a different langue, but some how she had understood it, it was so weird. She opened her eyes and stared at the darkening sky, as she began to take in her surroundings again she spotted Maya laying on the ground. She quickly ran over to her, being careful not to lose her footing and dropped down beside Maya, she turned her over and rested her hand on Maya’s forehead, “What the hell…Maya, Maya, are you ok?” she called, what on earth was happening here.*

*Aly's tears slid down her cheeks and fell onto the earth. No matter what Aly had tried to do, whether in the past or now, she could not stop herself from crying. Every time she thought of everything that had happened in the past, it just kept adding to her sadness. She knew that she was worthless and that she did not deserve any friends; maybe that was why she did not have any. It was hard being alone. She was not allowed to share her feelings to anyone, nor talk to him or her about the good and the bad times of the day. She was to be alone, almost destined. That just angered her. As she thought about the people in life who had everything, and never tried to give back to the community. To those less fortunate, to those who were lonely. Suddenly, Aly forgot about her sorrow, and rose up in pain. She wanted to get back at those people who had everything, or at least, was not alone like she was. The wind whipped, and the thunder boomed, perhaps so loud that it was able to break any window that it was close to it. The world would suffer for her sadness and they would suddenly realize the powers that she harvest. A bitter laugh arose from her lips and she threshed about, knocking down trees and creating horrific storms. The tornadoes howled as they snaked there way through, and the hurricanes thrashed against the soft surface of the earth. Aly, with her usually calm and peaceful mind corrupted, laughed at this with bitter happiness. They would all face her raft and no one could stop her.*

*Maya was awake. She wasn't conscious, but she was still awake. In a dream. She was standing on the highest mountain, watching the earth being destroyed by storms below her. Then she was in the hollow of a tree watching the raging tempests. Suddenly she was underwater, looking up at the dark sky and the blurred lightning. She changed places so many times; she saw the storm from so many points of view, all over the world. Then it came to a halt, and she was just outside of a trashy, feeble, little house. Maya was surrounded by poor people, and as she looked down at her own dirty, ragged clothing, she saw that she was one of them. Then the storm came full blow, and everyone crowded back into the house, but they hard work they put into building it was swept away by a gust of wind. She tried to use her telekinesis to reverse it all, but she didn't have it. Terrified, Maya looked up to the sky, and saw a face. A very familiar face that was contorted with vengeance. Before Maya could blink, she was stuck down with a bolt of white hot lightning, and everything went black. Gradually the black faded into grey, and she realized what she had seen. She had seen a furious, wrathful storm from the points of view of all the creatures of the world: an eagle, a fish, a squirrel... a human child. A poor human child who had done nothing wrong, but was a victim of the vicious revenge of the person whose face was in the sky before. It was Aly. Aly wasn't physically dead, Maya knew, even though she had seen Aly with all those other dead people. But in a sense, Aly had died. Her innocence, her sensitivity, her caring, everything that made her a good person, were dead. And Maya wasn't sure they could be revived again. Suddenly, out of the grey came a woman who she had never seen before. She walked right up to Maya, and laid a hand on her arm. She smiled sadly at Maya and said, "Justice will never be found in this world." With that she walked away and the grey followed her, fading slowly. Maya because to regain consciousness when she heard Spirit calling her name. She opened her eyes with a jerk, and spoke to Spirit in words she wasn't even sure she knew. The next thing she said could not have made much sense either: "She's dead, Spirit. She's dead."

*Spirit stared at Maya, what the hell was she talking about? Dead, who’s dead? She was making no scene, “Maya what are you talking about, whose dead? I don’t understand what you are saying.” She tired to say it in a calm voice but she could feel herself getting pissed off, she hated not knowing what was going on and it made her made as hell. She leaned back on her hands, she felt almost drained, who ever that thing was, it had almost sucked her dry, she shook her head, “Maya what happened, why were you passed out?”*

*Maya sat bolt upright, pressed her hand against her forehead, and coughed a couple times. How could she explain to Spirit what had just happened? "I don't know why I fainted," she began, "but I had this really weird dream and....Spirit, what is going on here, anyway? Because I'm pretty sure Aly has everything to do with it. I saw her face - twice. The first time it was along with a whole bunch of people I know who are dead, and the second time it was in the sky. No, that's not the right way to explain it..." Maya stuggled for words. "Her face was made of clouds. Her face was the sky. And she was an angry storm, and so many people were suffering. Spirit we have to stop her." Somehow, Maya added mentally. "And Aly's dead. Not dead, but all the goodness in her, her old self...died." Maya could tell she wasn't explaining things very well, but how are you supposed to explain something that you don't even fully understand? Aly was a part of nature now. Technically, that's what happens to everyone when they die; their remains decay and become part of the soil. But Aly had become nature in a far more literal sense. Maya burst out in what she thought was the right explanation. "Everything that is going wrong in nature right now, Aly is doing it somehow. Don't ask me how. I don't know. I don't know if I know why, either. She must be dead, in some way. It's really complicated - I don't even know myself what is going on, but people are getting hurt, and Aly is losing herself more and more. We need to do something about it." Maya started to sound really desperate. She was panicking. For once in her life she didn't know what to do, and there was no one to guide her. "Spirit we need to DO SOMETHING!!!"

*Aly chuckled, not just chuckled but giggled and it echoed throughout the sky. The chuckled sounded as if it were a three year old child who had just done something so terrible, broke some rule and could not be stopped or found. Being the sky, or nature for that matter, she could hear everything. She was the wind in the Northern Hemisphere and the tree in Europe. Everything anyone discussed was overheard by her and she knew everything, even Maya's little squabble with Spirit. It pleasured her to know that everyone was suffering for their terrible and hasty actions and they would soon know that it was their cause. Aly would serve justice to all the little children in the world who were alone and suffering because of horrible actions of others. It would finally bring joy to Aly's life to payback all the children that had tortured her in the past. But first, Aly had to tell her plans to Maya and Spirit, to prepare themselves, for she did not wantto hurt them, but she would if they got in her way. She knew that it was too risky if she went in body and soul, so she decided to go in just her soul. Aly appeared to them in soul, as the wind. She looked on the outside as human but if anyone tried to grasp her or harm her, they would fall right through.* "Maya... you can't stop me," Aly replied confidently, " At first, when I first left you I was planning on doing an unthinkable act. Now I know it was a mistake. I am destined to do this. I am destroying the hasty actions of every human being on earth. I am giving justice to me and every other little girl on the planet that was ridculed and teased. You see, when I was little I was hurt. Every storm that killed people, they thought it was my doing. Now that I think about it, maybe it was. The storms reacting to my feelings but they have never feared storms until now! I will make them all pay! I have come here to warn you, stay far away because I don't want to hurt you but I will if I have to. Oh and as I said before, you can't stop me! For I am Nature!" *And with that, Aly disappeared from them, possibly forever.*

*Spirit felt something build up in her, she didn’t know what it was, angry, sadness, or hate, she couldn’t tell, she never was any good at telling what emotions she was feeling; it most defiantly was not one of her talents. But she knew one thing for sure, she was sure that she was getting pissed off at Aly, or who ever had talked to them. No one who messed up natures ways on purpose would get away with it, the tress had been Spirit’s home for as long as she could remember and she would be damned if someone got away with hurting it like this. Spirit jumped to her feet, her hand clenched in a tight fist, she was pretty sure she felt the anger boil through her veins, but also she felt the sadness of the trees and flowers, and the hate, maybe that was Aly’s, Spirit could always feel how the trees and wind felt, and maybe since Aly was some how within the wind and sky that she could feel her too. “Aly! I know you are still out there, so you better listen to me! I understand that you are pissed at the people who hurt you, I can relate, both my parents were killed because for some reason it was their fault for the accidents that occurred, just like you were blamed for the weather. But Aly, can you really blame them? I mean they are humans, they hate things that are different from them, and they won’t accept things that make no sense to them, they’re scared and when they get scared they turn to the only thing they know, which is providing you with pain! Your not the only one, you know, I mean look at me and Maya, all three of us are not normal, do you think our lives have been easy? And you know what else Aly! You know what you are doing right now? You are doing the exact same thing as they did to you, you think your helping other or maybe even yourself, but all you are doing it turning the tables, do you really want to fall so low as to become like them? If you haven’t realized that hurting others will do no good then maybe you really should continue, go on and kill not just the bad humans in the world, but the ones who have done no wrong and do not understand why such horrible things are happening to them!” Spirit felt the wind against her face, if Aly didn’t understand that, then Maya was right and she was dead.*

*Aly's heart raced with hatred. How dare she be compared to those wretched and coldhearted humans of this wrealm. It was clear to Aly that Spirit obviously did not know of the hurt and revenge that layed sleeping inside each person person, and only when it was experienced first hand, could it awake. When it was awaken, there was no stopping it. It wanted more and more, and was never satisfied. And if Spirit was not able to realize it, then she was one of those people who had always gotten the way they wanted. Perhaps she had lost her parents, but even a person with no parents could experience a happy life. Friends were not hard to find unless they had some reason to stay away, and Aly always had a reason. No one was allowed to be close to her in fear that if they did, then the parents believed that like so many other parents, they too would be digging their son or daughter an early grave. Aly knew that deep down, somewhere inside that lonely soul, that Spirit was right. She also knew that Maya was right, because Aly was dead. Her compassion and concern for others was gone, and it would take awhile to rebuild, if it could be rebuilt. But after everything that she had said to Spirit and Maya, and everything thing she had done, she didn't want to stop. She knew it was wrong but for once in her life, everyone feared her. They could finally feel the pain that they had caused her, and it was as if she was feeding off that pain. For once in her sad exsistence, Aly was... happy. She never wanted to stop and she was hoping to get that wish. She returned to Spirit, but this time in body as well as soul and for one last moment, she allowed them to see her vulnerability. She was weak and she was unhappy.* "Well, then I guess Spirit... You are going to have to take me down." And with that, Aly disappeared once again.*

*Spirit stared at Aly, she seemed so weak and small it was hard to imagine her doing all this damage. For a moment she pitied her and wondered how someone who seemed so nice could just crack like that. Once Aly disappeared again, the feelings went to, but only to be replaced by anger. If this was the path Aly had chosen, then she was going to have to go through Spirit, “If that’s the way you want it Aly then bring it! Because the only way you’re going to be able to succeed is if you kill me first!” With that she walked back over to her book which lay on the ground, she picked it up and safely placed it back into her pouch. Then she walked over to Maya, “Maya, it’s up to you, but if you’re not going to help then you should get away and don’t try to stop me.” She waited to see what Maya would choose to do.*

*Aly cackled. She was not sure if Spirit was an idiot or just plain stupid. It was clear to her that Spirit did not seem to notice that whatever she planned to do, Aly would know. If she opened that little black book, she would be standing right beside her, reading its contents. If she and Maya discussed a plan to take her down, she would be there, finding a counteract. A lonely path it was going to turn out to be if she did not find a way to stop this violence in the world. Surely it could not be her fault? She was doing the world a favor by ridding the world with all the bully's and perfect people. Nobody deserved to be perfect, for it was only with fault that people could learn. No mistakes meant fakeness. Disasters were not only negative, but positive as well. It taught people the art of banding together and showing respect and kindness to those who had suffered. It was to late for this generation, but the next would never be so dimwitted to ignore what was about to happen. A war between two people, a claim of territory and a right to decide the outcome of this nation. True, Spirit did not seem like much, but Aly had been told to never judge a book by its cover, for what lay beyond that cover might be something so wonderful and breathtaking that it could never be compared to the cover. So, she sat, awaiting for Spirit's first move and Maya's decision.*
