Family TiesOuranos // Constantine // Helmi Ouranos lay by the bubbling, gurgling stream soaking up the evening sun. His pale tawny coat glowed warmly as the suns rays were absorbed into the thick fur and his deep leaf green eyes glinted softly. Despite the light, though, there was no spark in Ouranos' eyes any more. In fact even though the day was clear, not uncomfortably hot and he was at his favourite spot by the water the big male was not really happy. He hadn't been really happy for quite some time, in fact. The big, cheerful, grinning and bouncy Ouranos had been replaced by a much quieter, contemplative wolf. He had lost his mate, the mother of his pups. It might not even have been so bad if he had seen what had happened to her but she had just dissappeared and all he could think is that she had left of her own volition.
Still there was a shining light in his life even still. Two, in fact. A shadow of his former self came back as he looked around for the pair - Constantine and Helmi. He had thought the two wouldn't survive, and they nearly hadn't, but with the help of his pack the two had managed to survive their infancy - being weaned so much earlier than most others. They were getting so big now!
The proud father watched both - the paler Helmi seemed so much like her mother but with his more golden hints rather than her mother's grey. Constantine, the opposite, was more of a shade with Ouranos but with a hint more grey. Such a blend, they both were! He had always loved pups and these were his own. Barely pups anymore but a fathers loving nature meant he always saw them as the little bundles of fur who had cozied up to him seeking warmth in the cold spring nights just after they were born.
Slowly, Ouranos was recovering. The silver-cream adolescent snuffed his way about the area near the main den of the Glen Abhainn pack. He was a quiet young wolf around most - though relatively bubbly when he relaxed a little. His naturally inquisitive nature was a lot like his fathers had once been but was tempered by the sadness which seemed to hang about his sire.
It was hard not to be at least a little uppity today, though, with all that was going on. Since he and his sister had been born the pack had always seemed to be on the edge concerning one particular invader. Before, as with most young creatures, he was too absorbed in the mysteries of growing up and his own imagination to notice the true extent of worry that was pervading the group but slowly it was beginning to dawn on him quite how worried, for instance, Calliope and Zagreus were. His 'aunt and uncle' now seemed more his alpha's as they organised the pack, trying to sort out who was here and not. Aoede had gone missing - just afterwards Persephone had returned in no good state. He wasn't sure what had gone on but there certainly was an air of tension and worry floating about.
Stuck in the middle of all of this, Constantine didn't know what to do. He was the youngest of them all and so felt a bit useless. He looked around for his sister. Maybe she'd know something... Helmi, however, was probably worse off then her brother in the area. The young female had always been very sensative to the feelings of others and she had always shown signs of being pretty smart, but pinpointing the origin of the pack's unease had been impossible for her to do. It left her confused and worrysome. All she wanted to do was bring smiles back to everyone's faces. But she didn't know how.
As per usual, little Mimi had remained close to her father. She had always been a little clingy-not in the literal sense, but in the fact that she never wanted to wander off on her own. She drifted over to his resting form, burrying her nose in the fur at the back of his neck, "Daddy~"Ouranos smiles as he reached up to give his daughter a lick on the nose. He did not mind at all having her around and in fact was quite glad of her company. Her quiet nature was soothing and it gave him something to do - something to pull him out of the quiet world he had retreated to. Constantine loped over to the pair, plopping down onto the ground close enough to lean against his father. The family, despite it's troubles, were close. "Think Aoede's gone missing." he told the pair somewhat matter of factly. "Heard anything?" he then asked Helmi, his head tilted to one side, looking slightly comical with his folded-over ears. He had been a little self conscious of them at first, realising that none but his father and sister had the same type, but noone had ever taken great note of them. Ouranos had been quite surprised to find both pups had ears much like his own he thought, as he licked one of Constantine's in greeting, having to sit up to do so now that his sun was growing up. He had been born with normal ears and it was only an accident, bad healing that had caused his to fold over. Maybe it had run in their mothers family? He'd never be able to ask now.. A moments introspection was brushed away as his son spoke though. Aoede? Missing?Mimi looked quite surprised. Her folded ears pulled back in dismay, making them look even more doopy then usual. "Aoede?...Well I haven't seen her around but..." Her teal eyes took on a sad note. She hadn't thought Aoede missing. She had always been closest to her family, but having members of the pack disappear wasn't encouraging either.
"I didn't know she was gone..." she murmured, looking a little self-concious. Perhaps if she had been more careful with her observations she could have told someone.Ouranos had know there had been something going on in the pack in some vague corner of his mind. He had mostly been a little too dazed and the tohers hadn't bothered him about it much in consideration. Persephone had come back, afterall, and he had thought that was the end of it. Noone had told him any different.
He imagined suddenly what it would be like to have Helmi go missing and, standing quickly, gave her a quick nuzzle. He and Zagreus had both been blessed with two children and if what Constantine was saying was true.. "Both of you.. stay here I'll go and find out more" he was loathe to leave them, with the thugth of them going missing also and twinges of fear ate at him as he imagined this all connected to Anya's dissapearance. However, they were right here at the den surely if anywhere they would be safe. "Don't wander" he said, rather softly but with a deep seriousness, and loped off to find out what was going on.Constantine looked at his sister, vivid aqua eyes mirroring her own confusion. Not only was something going on that he had no clue about but his father suddenly seemed more serious and sharp minded than he had ever seen him before. With a shrug at that last order he settled himself more comfortably into a lying position. "Didn't notice either..." he fianlly replied to his sister. He smiled at her "I'm sure she's just gone hunting or something..." he couldn't really imagine anything bad happening on a day like this.
Constantine's eyes darkened as he thought of something. "I wonder if she went to the same place mamma did..." he said quietly. It wasn't something Ouranos often spoke about but he had picked up the jist of what had happened from others. He sort of imagined some dark cve into which wolves walked and never came out. Mimi shifted uncomfortably, looking a little distraught. She hadn't seen Daddy so upset in a while...and Constantine's dark mood didn't help either. "Well...if she did maybe she will come back with Momma soon..." she murmured, despretely trying not to sink into the heavy thoughts of her brother and father. You could either sink or swim with such thoughts, but Mimi was more like a rock in such a situation. She didn't handle it so well.Constantine knew his sister well enough to see that he had upset her and it instantly brought him out of his mood. He didn't like to see her upset and with all that was going on he really hadn't helped things! How stupid he was. He grimaced inwardly wishing he would think a little more before he spoke.
"Maybe..." he said with a little smile, wondering what it would be like if she did come back. They had never known her afterall but if it would make their father happier... He looked off in the direction the bluff wolf had gone. He butted his head gently against hers affectionaly. "Don't worry Mimi, I'm sure it'll all be fine.." he wasn't the brash, outgoing brotherly type but he would not have stopped to think if his sister needed protection. "Maybe we can help.." he thought aloud, wondering what 'help" two half grown adolescents could give.

Falling StarsElysion // Kalain // Mu'sha Elysion was cold, hungry and... lonely. The weather this late in summer, just as the leaves were beginning to think about changing to autumnal shades of red and gold, was a little less predictable than earlier in the season. Although Ely had gone to sleep in a warm spot in the lee of several large boulders, flanked by trees and a few scraggly shrubs, curled in on himself so that his thick, aqua-green and black spotted tail covered his nose he still woke shivering. It seemed the wind had turned in the night and now his cosy little spot had become a funnel for whirling currents of late-season chill.
His bones creaked and he grimaced. He was too young to feel this sore just from a draught. Flicking slightly mismatched eyes to the sky he figured that it was close enough to dawn that he might as well get up. He travelled, now, mainly in the early morning and afternoon keen not to aggravate any wolves whose territory he was moving through. This was a double edged sword though as it meant he had not spoken to or seen any others in days.
Although his pack had been small for the most part and he had spent a long time alone the spotted wolf was truly missing the feeling of having a secure place to come back to, friends to share the hunt and a meal with. Just anyone to talk to. Of course he hadn't ever been much of a conversationalist back home where his probing questions had been given so much disapproval he'd begun to keep himself to himself at a young age but now... After meeting another keen to hear him out he imagined a pack full of wolves eager to share their thoughts with him and he his own to them. Still, she had been on her own... Maybe wolves like they weren't meant to live with others. He remembered the purple wolf with a little fondness and some longing. It wasn't particularly her, though she had been a stunning example of a female, but Ely thought he might even be happy to go back to keeping his thoughts to himself if he could find a mate to settle down with.
It had long been a dream of his to do this - he had imagined himself surrounded by puppies, a loving mate. Personally his taste had always been older females - more mature, caring. All those he had had breif courtships with up until now had always been at least a little older than himself and although that had been somewhat more for practical reasons (there had been few younger than him nearby) but it had given him a predeliction to that type. Of course it was more their maturity than age - the thought of a giggling, young coquette just put him off entirely but even worse was an older female who acted like one. He shook his head vigorously, stetched his legs out, gave a rather large yawn and started once more to move towards goodness-knows-where. Mu'sha harrumphed, half-stomping through the forest with little care as to where she was headed. She was too warm here - her thick winter coat was already in and the first snow hadn't even fallen. In her mountainous northern home she would have already been having to hunker down against the wind and whisps of cold white which drifted down from the sky. Of course she didn't mind that prey was a little easier to come by and that her paws weren't chilled from when she woke up until she slept but still... it was different and emphasised to her the fact that this place was not home - where she wanted to be.
She had promised herself she would not go back home without the wayward male who was now half-running to keep up with her. She had said it to him, too, thinking it might promt him back home. The pair had never been to good at being civil with one another even though each had gained a grudging like of the other whilst Kalain had been mated to Mu'sha's sister. His steadfast refusal to go home irritated her but she wouldn't have left him now that she had said she would not.
The pair were both so different in nature it was almost comical. Mu'sha herself was large, rather brawny, sensible, a good hunter and generally a friendly female. However, although she did like to ponder the intracacies of life and nature she often felt like a gangly pup when she was around Kalain. The male was small, somewhat skinny and so un-masculine as to be arather androgenous in his looks. He was better at thinking than at hunting, Mu'sha had often said and although she had meant it as a light slur, it was not totally untrue. She didn't envy him his nature or his position - in fact it rather creeped her out at times - but he was an oracle of Kalain and she respected him for it, depite how she might act towards him outwardly. Of course she'd never mention this to him...
"Stop dawdling!" she called out, knowing that once again the small male had been distracted by some thing or other. With a sigh the black and white male pulled himself away from the shrub he had been peering into. He had been sure he had seen... but now it must have been a shadow, a flicker of light. Something. "I'm coming!" he replied, slightly exasperated. Mu'sha's pace was fast and relentless - soldiering through the forst to who-knew where. He had told her this morning that he would not go North and so she had huffily set off west - trying to delay him from going further south at least.
He had to admit that having the brusqe female for company had given him a little more to smile about though he would not allow her to deflect him from his 'mission'. It was pointless arguing with her - once she was set on a course it was as easy to deflect her as an angry mother bear - but he did feel rather guilty that he would not allow her to go back by going back himself. It was a rather odd situation and he wondered how he might remedy it. He didn't want her following him around all of his life. All of her life. It was he who had to atone, not her, and she wouldn't understand.. With a quick scratch at his tingling forehead, he set off after her.
His legs were aching at the pace she set, despite his having walked so far already. He was not, for once, hungry. She had hunted with him, they had eaten, he was sated. It had been quite some time since he could say that. He was a passable hunter but not a good one and had mostly been 'surviving' on his meals rather than enjoying them.
Ahhhhh it would be nice to be home. But that wasn't an option for him. The gods forgive him he had to go on...Traipse, toil, trudge. His brightly coloured coat was dusty with windblown silt and debris. His head was down as he walked ever forward. If he wasn't mistaken, by the scent on the wind, it wouldn't be that long until he reached the sea. What would he do then? Just keep walking, into the big-water? That moments thought flickered away as his ever curious mind perked at the idea of actually coming to the sea. Afterall, he had never actually seen this large body of water which, he had been told, stretched right away into the sky. He had no concept of the giant waves, only having seen small, fresh water ripples and gentle flows. Of course even some lakes and water courses could be treacherous underneath and he had once seen a raging waterfall tear the very rock away when it was swollen with meltwater but that was falling water, not flat. He wondered how the stars would look like reflected on the surface of the ocean.
Noise. To the left. Just there! He froze. His mottled coat, though bright, often served to give him at least a little camouflage in the evening woods at this time of year when the odd dots broke up his outline, making a flickering shadow of him. In bright daylight, though, his chances of not being spotted were low. He cursed inwardly, hoping that he hadn't stumbled across someone else's land who were particularly indisposed towards strangers. He tried to get a better view of what he might be up against. Running was what he wanted to do but running usually led to chasing and that was never good. There! This time he was sure he was not seeing things - the flicker of white, a green just a shade unnatural for this deep leafy forest. He stopped once more with his head cocked to one side to see if he could make out this other. Kalain did not believe in coincidences and had never been particularly good at understanding 'territorial boundaries'. He was far too an abstract thinker and perhaps an idealist in some ways despite his current morose state, to be worried constantly about such things.
Thus, he was not as afraid as Ely was of bumping into other wolves. In fact any which had been put on his path might have been laced there for a reason and he would not like to think he ignored an oppertunity to atone. He felt rather selfish for thinking like that at times but was pragmatic enough to understand that taking satisfaction in helping others was not the worst flaw one could have."What have you stopped for now?" grumbled Mu'sha, eyeing Kalain over her shoulder. She had, in her impatience to get on, not been paying enough attenon to spot Ely. When she rounded on Kalain, followed his gaze and did end up catching a glimpse of the dapple-coated wolf she flushed, feeling somewhat dissapointed in herself that, as a good tracker and hunter she had not spied the brightly coloured male first. He seemed frozen on the spot. Watching them watching him. She realised immediately that he was not from here - she had figured at first he was a pack male but looking at his body language the surly female realised his waryness was more due to him feeling he was not on his own territory rather than about finding two strangers on his.
She eyed Kalain and could see his interest. They weren't going further today - at least not for now. He was not so good at the niceties of meeting people she always thought - not unless they were like himself. He could be so annoyingly unaware of any friction he might cause by walking into someone else's territory she knew. She'd seen him do it. Oh, it worked out allright eventually but at first... Mu'sha sighed and then wandered forward almst lazily, wagging her black-striped tail in a friendly manner, smiling a little. She might have been more defensive if the male himself had seemed less like he might run away at a moments notice but she figured a little bit of friendlyness was in order to 'catch' him. "Hello" Well this wasn't a bad start, at least. They didn't seem to mind him here and were even being friendly. His shoulders unwound, releasing his tension a little. "Hi there." he replied, his ears pricked up, still watching them both just a little warily. There were two of them afterall and the other hadn't moved. "I'm... just passing through here." Unlike Mu'sha he hadn't yet twigged that he might not be the only one travelling. This meagre show of friendliness quickened some small seed inside Ely and brought to him how much he wanted company. "We are too." said the pale female, wanting to make it clear they had no more claim to this land than he did so there was no need to be so wary. She wondered, in fact, why they hadn't bumped into others yet. She strode a little closer - for all her thoughts on Kalain's inability to be succinct she herself was not exactly shy about coming close to others. All of their pack were, in fact, a rather gregarious bunch prone to being rather more open about some things and not afraid to speak their minds. "You look like you've been travelling a while" she said, eyeing his dusty coat and rather underfed looking frame. It wasn't a criticism, just a statement of truth. Why did most of the males who decided to wander alone in the woods end up half starved. You'd think they all left their females to hunt. Hmph.Kalain, meanwhile, was simply watching the two. What Mu'sha had said was true, he noticed with a skilled eye. This male was underfed, thin and looked more than a little tired. He was not... or had not been so thin always and the small male could tell that when Ely had a good meal in him he was likely a rather well muscled young male. He was slightly bemused at his own thoughts on how attractive, in fact, this oddly bright young male would be with a bit of care. He was not supposed to be thinking of that sort of thing, especially not so soon after... Ugh! He was supposed to be trying to help those in need.
With a slightly baleful plod he walked forward to join Mu'sha. "I am Kalain" he said without preamble. "This is Mu'sha" he could see her irritated look as he once again no doubt broke some social nicety. "What is your name, in this cycle?" his voice was soft an undemanding. It was fine, it suggested, if Ely didn't want to answer. "I'm Ely" he replied just as succinctly, smiling at the forthrightness of both wolves. He didn't really like the posturing and rambling of some wolves who took a very long time to say very little. Although he liked to convrse, to share ideas and talk he did not like taking time over the 'niceties'. It seemed the three stood there for a moment and Ely felt slightly embarrassed at being so frightened by their presence in the first place. Perhaps they would let him..."Would you like to walk with us for a while?" Kalain said abruptly, as if he had just made the decision to ask. He didn't much see the point of them all standing here when the three were all heading the same way. Unless, of course, this male had a purpose of his own to fulfill. Kalain cocked his head to the left, violet eyes waiting for an answer."Allr.." he heard himself start to say without even thinking about it. He did feel like he wanted company and what would be the point in walking apart if they were headed the same way. They seemed pleasant enough and otherwise all three might keep bumping into each other and making each other think there were more wolves nearby than was so. Why not? "Allright" he nodded smiling.---oOo--- It all happened so fast that Mu'sha barely had time to register what was going on. Suddenly they were meeting a strange wolf and now he was travelling with them. Of course she didn't mind now - he had turned out to be rather quiet but amiable company. Once they'd walked for some time, started chatting, gotten to know a little about him he certainly seemed no threat and, to be quite frank she rather liked Ely. Kalain, in fact, was being the quietest of them all. At first she had been slightly bemused at him inviting Ely and then leaving her to do the talking but soon she idn't mind at all. She found that they both shared a passion for the hunt - not just for sustenance but as a skill in itself and the tactics behind it.
There hadn't been so many in her own pack - many of the young had been drawn to the more esoteric of their elders rather than those keen on hunting. She didn't begrudge them it - she had once been interested in the same thing - but she often voiced the opinion more of them should try their hand at perfecting their hunting skills.
At least with Ely, too, she didn't feel like a child talking to their teacher as she sometimes did with Kalain. Now the conversation had turned to wether they might hunt. Why hadn't she thought to offer before? - afterall Ely was so skinny looking he probably needed beefing up! Perhaps they could find somewhere nearby to set up a small den.As for Ely... he felt absoloutely rapturous. Good company, good conversation with a female who was more than just easy on the eye and the promise of his first good meal in ages. He was beginning to feel more than a little scruffy and wondered why he hadn't kept himself a little more cleaned up. Ah well, too late for that now.
He had to admit he felt a little bad, though. The male, whom Ely had actually thought was female at first until her got a little closer, was trailing behind them and not talking much. He seemed a little distant despite his friendly manner and Ely had gotten the feeling he was distracted by something. Feeling a little guilty he returned to smiling at the rather amiable female at his side. Today was turning out to be rather interesting. The small black and white male raised his head into the air, letting the scents of early evening waft into his nose. It was getting cooler again and the air seemed much fresher than it had been in weeks. Like Mu'sha he was also eager for the cooler weather to come and the snows to start so that his heavy coat would no longer feel like quite such a burden. He could hear them eagerly discussing a hunt and wished that he himself was more useful at that particular part of life.
Listening, though, he had gleaned a few things. Like himself this male was trvelling without real purpose. He had no pack left to go back to, though. It was not choice but necessity which had led him to this lifestyle. Kalain wondered in what way he could help him. Perhaps he could persuade Mu'sha to go back home and take this male who so needed a home with her? It seemed perfect that he had turned up when she had. He pondered this as he walked along, wondering in what way he might connce them both the idea was a good one.
With the tiniest pang of jealousy he watched them laughing together. He was disgusted with himself because of it but he would just have to get over that. He was above it really. He should be, anyway...

SurveyJove // Saturne The long fur on the back of his neck ruffled softly, mismatched eyes peering out over the landscape in front of him, surveying it with an expert glance. From where he stood on the mountainside the wind ripped down past him into a wide, deep valley. He spied a river - a flood plain then - probably filled with plenty animals who were drawn to the water. Deer, birds, fish and all manner of small critters probably populated the land below him
Spruce and pine trees predominated near the base of the mountain and only started to become thickets of paler deciduous green closer to the water - the valley was comfortably cool then but probably relatively sheltered in winter if all of those weak hardwoods hadn't perished before getting to the size they were now.
It was obviously warmer than his home but he had expected it this far south and with the shelter provided by the mountains. He had come from those mountains or rather ones like them a little further north. His thick fur was a testament to the cool of his homeland - so cool all year round that his summer coat was almost as thick as his winter one.
His brow furrowed as he considered his plan. Scouring the whole of this land and all the areas surrounding it would take months. It was far too long for there to be any trail left now and he had no leads as to where his quarry had gone.
"Jove, Jove! Isn't it pretty!" the voice came from behind him like some sort of peircing fang into his concentration. With a weary, exaggerated sigh he turned to face the wolf who had come up behind him, disturbing his train of thought. Sati seemed to be multiplicity in wolf form. She was white in front, patchy brown, tan and white in back and had bright purple eyes. Inside, though, most thought she was rather simple. "Ooooo look at those geese, too!" she cried with delight, eyeing a triangle of the ungainly birds as they began their yearly trek to their winter grounds. Her movements were spy, bright and much more like those of a pup than the adult she was. Her small frame and childishly high tones didn't help in that respect. She giggled and skipped up beside the dark-faced male, peering into his serious eyes. She was tiny compared to him and he wasn't even that big. Her look could almost have been described as pouty as she eyed Jove. "Are we gonna be here all day? It's nice to look at but I'm hungry!" He wished for perhaps the fifth or sixth time that hour that he hadn't had to bring Sati along. But her father had insisted and you couldn't exactly say no to your alpha when he made a personal request... though Jove had come close. The old wolf seemed to think it'd do her some good to get out into the world - Jove would have agreed but he knew Sati was incredibly thick skinned against anything which might be actually useful, and more inclined to be distracted by 'pretty' things.
He hoped, truly, that he could find that blasted runaway and get back home before his nerves got any more frayed."Ooo oo! look, a bunny rabbit!" Sati cried, instantly almost tripping over her own feet from a standing position as she tried to turn and tare off after it at the same time.

Old Friends and NewElysion // Kalain // Mu'sha // Jove // Saturne He was tired now, his eyes gritty and his mouth feeling full of cotton wool. He probably should have slept at least a little but the prospect of Sati taking watch didn't appeal. Normally they could both have slept at the same time with no problem but he could smell the distinct markers of other wolves here. He was edgy, grumpy and cursing a certain two wolves under his breath with all his might. He considered himself a good tracker of other wolves, prided himself on it in fact, but it seemed as though he was chasing ghosts, not flesh and blood. It was just as he was thinking that when one of those ghosts walked up behind him with a grin on her face. It wasn't until a few hours ago she'd realised that a familiar scent was lingering in the area, had turned the tables and started to track the tracker. Her game was hunting animals, usually, but it could easily be turned to hunting others. Sneaking, keeping herself unseen, could help her with both too.
"Hello Jove" she whispered at his back.Tired, bleary and on edge the male nearly jumped a foot when the voice tickled his ears from behind. He whirled, body reacting naturally and instantly as if there was a threat to himself and his charge. His fur raised, his ears pinned back and his lips pulled back to bare his teeth. On edge, totally ready to pounce forward in attack he stopped short and swore. Loudly.
"Sweet flying spirits, Sha, you scared the life out of me!" the tension drained out him him, anger fading to amusement. With a voice full of mock chastisement, the older male sighed a complaint "Tracking you for days, I should have known you'd end up finding me first." "You taught me well" she smiled, giving him a brief, affectionate lick. Technically he shouldn't have been her trainer but as her fathers closest companion he had been well placed to give her more than basic tracking training. She had grown up around him and he was like a favourite uncle. It pleased her to be able to show him she had kept the skills he had given her and not let them go rusty.
Of course, she had been ranked, essentially, equal to him in a sort of obtuse way. She had been the best hunter, really, but in her position of heir she had not been allowed to take on the head of that group. Jove, as her fathers friend and advisor had also been restricted from taking a similar position. It was something to do with old rules which stopped power being held in the hands of a few but it had left both with a slight bitterness at not being able to take their 'true' positions.
Both had become close when they had realised this resemblance and despite their age felt a sense of brotherhood. "So where's your prey, then?" he asked, knowing that as he'd been tracking two wolves, she must have met up with Kalain at some point. "Right here." came a silky voice and a white and black wolf walked out of the darkness behind Mu'sha."Give me wings! I must be losing my touch if you can creep up on me too." There was a little less warmth in his voice as he addressed the so-called male in front of him. He had never really understood spiritualists and definately not this particular male who was certainly not very good at all the things he himself held dear. To be sneaked up on by him..."Mu'sha's" voice covered my movements and she told me where to stand" Kalain said, softly, knowing almost exactly what the oh-so-masculine male in front of himself was thinking. Of all of those whose eyes he could barely look into now Jove was pretty high up the list. He was uncomfortable in his presence and quickly looked away to the other wolf at the camp.
"Saturne!" he said softly, but with some surprise. "No come back Mr. Rabbit.." she murmered softly as she came to through a haze of sleepiness. He smiled, but wondered why Jove had brought her along. When he voiced this, Jove gave the pair a quick overview of the circumstances up until that time."So, as you see, I didn't have much of a choice." he grimaced slightly, looking to Mu'sha. "So if you've found him and we've found you" he left out the fact that in fact it had been the other way around "then we can go home now" he said matter-of-factly."It's not that easy..""Of course it is. Why wouldn't it be..." he voice trailed off and he eyed Kalain accusatorially."I'm not keeping Mu'sha, but I'm not going back. She's chosen to stay here despite my insistence for her to back.""I make my own decisions" she said bullishly. "And what I said was I wasn't going back without you."He sighed tiredly, knowing exactly how the whole thing must have gone when they'd come together. Mu'sha had disliked Kalain, he knew, but just before... that time... she had set aside any hatred for him and it seemed now that they were getting on a lot better. He had set aside his feelings in some small box but he still felt a small contingent of dislike towards the small, mysterious male. Some small resentment.
"Well, your father wants you back, Sha and if that means bringing you" he eyed Kalain "then you'll be coming to.""No.""No?" Jove was actually quite surprised that Kalain had not just said 'Yessir, nossir'. He was not used to being told no when he brought orders from their alpha, or even just when hegave his own. "You don't have much of a choice" he grumbled "your alpha is calling you.""Jove..." Mu'sha said quietly, interposing herself between him and Kalain. She knew that Jove still held her small companion to blame in some part for that one sadness which had affected them all. He was speaking from his hurt, not really from what was best. Her father would understand if she chose to do this, would encourage it probably. All of that was communicated in her tone."A deep breath in and out calmed him and he realised that perhaps he was allowing himself to get a bit wound up. "Well, what is it that's keeping you here?" he asked, thinking that if he could help the task along they might get going back sooner."I want to atone." he said quietly, knowing that Jove would at least understand that."And how do you intend.. how can you ever..." he shook his head. "So, let me guess, you've been wandering around the woods these past months 'helping' ?". Jove shook his head. It was all very well having ideals but you couldn't wander forever. "Your father wants you back." he said to Mu'sha and then, to Kalain, "And your alpha demands it.""I'm sure he'd understand.." Mu'sha said, softly but with a determined undertone. She had to admit she'd become somewhat involved with the idea - it was mostly her pride that kept her insisting that Kalain had been her quarry that she must follow but.. she couldn't help thinking that it would be nice to be back home, in a stable place where they could get their blessings and hunt properly and feel, well, safe.
The inkling of an idea came to her then as she stood there with Kalain and Jove. "I was thinking..." she began.oO------------------------------------------------oOo------------------------------------------------Oo 3 hours later.. "Your father is going to gut me." he said, but it was with a hint of amusement in his voice.Mu'sha grinned. Ely had joined them, Sati had woken up and now all five sat around in the tiny clearing, discussing animatedly. They had decided to form a new pack under the rules of their old, to take up new positions and with a more overarching goal in mind - to help others. What had been one wolf's mission had become the mission of five and any others that would be drawn to them. And she would lead that effort. It had come naturally to her - she was an heir to it and Kalain didn't want the position despite being a founder of the principle.
They'd have to get moving, though, to find a place before winter set in. They would need a winter den and an idea of what prey they could expect. So much to do and so little time. She wasn't about to wait until light to start. "Lets get going, then." she grinned.
