wow nopenname, you definately did some research, thank you for contributing....i definately forgot about the mercury thing.......that they talked about.......i'll have to do some research myself..once agian thank you.......

Well, I too wondered about all this stuff about Autism and MMR vaccinations when Lissa was still in utero, the scientific research I've found clearly shows that there is no link.
i did some research on it but with how my son reacted to the vaccine and how much worse he got immediately after... i still have my suspicions redface

Well... I have a child who is autistic.. and as a result of it has a hard time getting a haircut, getting his hair washed.. and since his brain scan... has a freaking trauma everytime you touch his head at all.... he used to not be as bad before.. i could touch his head and work the cradle cap off while he was falling to sleep... and i could find tricky ways to wash his hair.. but now i'm having to desensitize him all over again... and my son has had most of his vaccines... but it was the belief of my pediatrician to hold off on any more until more is found out about his autism. That is from his pediatrician. And..for the record is a beautiful young african american doctor.. just so there's no "maybe she's one of them radical indian types''....

Oh. I came into this thread to update you guys. My son has been in this pre-preschool program since september. And.. I am only slowly and recently noticing improvements in his responsiveness to when people talk to him. His eye contact has improved as well.. which is a HUGE deal...He doesn't seem to bond too well with the speech therapist... but he does like his teacher's aid. Anyhooos.. I had parent teacher conferences last night. I had a chance to talk about his autism with them at lengths.. cuz last time i saw them was in the spring before i started looking into it.. and told them about his experience with the brain scan and what i've found on the internet regarding his autism.

The speech therapist was very encouraging tho... she said that his repetition is really good as he does it more.. she says the more he's repeating certain things.. he's learning something from it... so to just give him room for his repetition. That was soo nice of her to say. heart I didn't get to see his occupational therapist. His actual classroom teacher recommended i try to get a ride and visit on a wednesday morning. that's his OT day. and i could meet with her.. and watch him in the room with the other kids... His teacher says she is trying to find resources in the area for me.. to see if there are people who can come out and assist me in dealing with his autism and occupational therapy at home...
heart
Im glad that hes starting to do better they want my son in one of those programs but hes only 2 and a half so i said no until hes 4 because hed have to be on a bus with alot of other kids by himself(which freaks him out) for ATLEAST an hour and a half each way so until hes a bit older i think well stick with homecare 3nodding

After the first two rounds of Lissa's vaccinations before she even got the MMR shot she reacted much like your son does and she's not Special Needs.

She was hot and slept practically for days straight. Her fever would spike and go down spike and go down. She broke out in hives. She went from really mild mannered to demon child. From the day she came home from the hospital she slept 6 hours straight but after her vaccinations she woke up every hour on the hour.

I think it was mainly due to the fact she'd just been given four different vaccines including Prevnar which is like a vaccine cocktail. They even told me that she would act different, irritable, sleepy, angry, hurt, sick, feverish.

She's fine now, and fine after she gets her shots, she just recently got her first MMR and had no problems.

oh whats the book about? if its about autism is hould get it...i do lots of reading so i have some clue as to whats going on my son also has severe sensory integration dysfunction and a great book to read about that is "The Out Of Sync CHild" its an awesome book because most children with autism will have some for of sensory issues and this adresses all of them and gives you ways to identify, understand , and deal with them

Yep...I don't know if any of you are familiar with the Samantha Runnion story...she was abducted from her front yard, and murdered. I used to work with her mom when this all happened. Anyways, her step sister has Autism, and all that. The reason I am posting about this, is there have been studies on Autism being linked to the MMR (Measles Mumps Reubella) vaccination. The studies have been mostly in Great Britain. In fact they no longer gives these vaccines together. However, cocky as America is...they claim that there is no link whatsoever...and still innoculate small children around I believe age 2. America has the highest rate of Autism. I highly suggest for future reference to parents, ask to get these shots individually on separate visits. I am not going to take any chance with my daughter. Why in the hell would they want to inject our children with that much crap??? Just points to ponder...OH and Hello Kaara...

There is no link to the vaccines themselves and autism. Period. What causes autism is the mercury that was used to line the bottles of the MMR vaccine. But the US no longer uses suppliers that coat bottles with mercury. You are talking about old scientific data.

"Current scientific evidence does not support the hypothesis that measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, or any combination of vaccines, causes the development of autism, including regressive forms of autism. The question about a possible link between MMR vaccine and autism has been extensively reviewed by independent groups of experts in the U.S. including the National Academy of Sciences, Institute of Medicine. These reviews have concluded that the available epidemiologic evidence does not support a causal link between MMR vaccine and autism.

Here is a list of the studies
Epidemiologic studies have shown no relationship between MMR vaccination in children and development of autism:

I hate non vaccinators because they are essentially putting my child at risk. Say my daughter is on a sports team later. Well if she ends up going to Vachon Island (Where TONS of parents are not getting their children vaccinated) she could get something. I think it's disgusting that these non-vaccinators would put their own children at risk let alone mine.

Unless you ACTUALLY have religious problems with vaccination GET your KIDS VACCINATED!

Just so you understand...my daughter DOES get her vaccinations...I just request that all vaccines are administered seperately, better safe than sorry. I was very allergic to the MMR shot myself...and they gave me meds to counteract the effects...with my luck, I was allergic to those meds...I ended up missing my first month of 7th grade. I just won't risk something like that...thank you for all the information and studies tho'. I will be looking deeper into those. Cindi

We have to see the cardiologist because eric was born with a calcification on one of the valves of his heart and was tacacardic during delivery and birth his heart rate would shoot up to 300+ and then down to 30 and he couldnt control his body temp i didnt get to hold him for almost a half hour after he was born and then i only had him for 15 minutes and they took him upstairs for over 3 hours gonk he still cant regulate his body temp to the point that a few days ago it was 70 degrees in my house but his hands and feet were slightly swollen and red and purplish. He cant stay cool in the summer even with the ac cranked up and warm in the winter.... he cant play outside much cause he overheats or freezes he was outside like 15 minutes today with gloves on and when i brought him in his hands and feet and face were frozen and it was over 40 degrees gonk
