"If you said it, Ah'll believe it." She said as she turned to him with a beaming smile. She shouldn't have said such a thing, she had only known the boy for a day, but if it made them both feel better then what was the harm?
Besides, she believed that he could get them out, and that lifted her spirits. She looked around before looking to their right, "So... what about that direction? Does it give ya a safe feelin'?" Happy full of life trees lay ahead in the direction she pointed, and you could never go wrong with healthy trees and happy animals.
Suddenly a shiver ran down her spine, she turned back to Serge with an odd look on her face. "That was weird, did'ja feel that?"

"Yeah..." Serge answered in a lower voice. The hairs on his neck were standing up again. "I think...maybe we should go back to the beach after all..." He added, stepping back and then turning to head that way.
He had a sudden feeling that answers would come if they went back to the beach, and he was sure of the path too...but something was still nagging him. Things still didn't add up, and now more than ever, he felt like this was all a game, or some weird dream.

Rogue glanced around again before following Serge, not like she had a choice being connected at the hands, but she didn't want to stay anywhere alone right now anyways.
Walking a bit closer to Serge in her now slightly-nervous state, she turned to him and grinned, trying to lighten the mood. "And Ah could've slept right through this."

Serge made no attempt to answer as he picked up the pace quite a bit, run down the path they'd take the night before. Things were beginning to suddenly piece themselves together since that chill hit the two.
Everything that came after that wave, the dolphins, the cave...even the berries. It was all to convenient, like it'd been placed, he was almost sure of it suddenly, and if he was right...
He slid to a stop when they cleared the tree line, right where the beach should have been, only to be at the edge of a field of wild flowers.
The figure watched from the tree line, having trailed along out of sight. The kid knew already? How interest, he was brighter than he seemed, but what of the girl?

Rogue kept up with Serge perfectly, accepting his silence and not saying anything else as it truely wouldn't be important at that time. Her eyes scanned their surroundings, they should be at the beach any time now...
As they reached the field of wild flowers her hand slipped out of his before she took a step forward and plucked a flower from the ground and smelled it before dropping it carelessly and turning back to Serge.
"So... Since beaches can't just up an' leave... is one of us dreaming?" She asked, a little confused at what was going on, but getting the gist of it.
"And if we're dreamin'... then what if you don't really exist? ... What if Ah don't really exist? ... oh wow, that'd suck." She grinned as she spun around to look at the field again.
"Or of course, something magical could be happening and we're caught in the middle." Of course it was just a guess, she was positive that she was wrong. She used to fall asleep at the beach all the time, maybe that had happened and she hadn't noticed it?
Turning to face Serge again, a sheepish grin overtook her face. "Sorreh for all the babbling, Ah like to think out loud, if ya hadn't noticed yet."

Serge shook his head, looking out toward the middle of the field. "It's ok..." He said in almost a mutter as he began walking forward a little. "This is all just some kind of game...after all..." He added, continuing out into the field.
Stopping after a few yards, he sighed and looked to the trees. "You can come out now, I know you're there."
As the words finished leaving Serge's mouth, a shadow seemed to jump from out of the trees and land behind him. "So...you already found me out, huh?" The completely black figure asked with a shrug and shake of the head. "That really quiet impressive, considering...but now what will you do...hmm?"

Rogue stayed silent as Serge treked further into the field. He seemed to know what was going on, at least the basics. A game?
Shewas about to squint to get a better view at the shadowy figure, when he suddenly appeared behind Serge, causing her to take two steps back to gain back some of her lost distance.
She didn't like these kinds of games, shadowy figures weren't high in her books.

"Let us leave..." The words weren't a request, that was clear. Serge had taken on a serious air suddenly, he didn't seem the least bit scared by te figure being so close, a fact most impressive for a child.
"And if I don't?" The figure questioned, as a hidden grin passed his lips.
"I'll do what I have to...to keep my promise." He answered, as he looked over to Rogue.
"Ooohhh...? You mean the one you made to this girl?" The figure asked as he suddenly appeared right behind Rogue. "What was it now...? Ah yes, 'I'll get us home, no matter what!' wasn't it?"

The past day and a bit she had seen a shy little boy, but Serge was now being direct and not dodging the 'issue', as one might call it, she was impressed... however, she didn't want him standing up against someone like that.. whoever that was.
Watching the scene from the sidelines, she knew that he could jump from place to place, but the last thing she expected was for the figure to pay her any attention.
A sounds of shock escaped her lips and she spun around and began backing up, her eyes not leaving him. "Ah don't like you." She said in a solid voice, though once she got near Serge she immediately grabbed for his hand.

Serge took it with out thought and moved himself between Rogue and the figure. Eyes set into an amethyst glare. "I will not break that promise." He said with a conviction hard enough to break stone.
"So...you're that serious then?" The figure asked in a low tone. "Well girl..." He said, as he looked at Rogue from over Serge's shoulder. "It seems the kit learned the lesson far faster than I thought...all because of you."
Serge froze up at those words, his hand grasping tight to Rogue's. 'Kit'...there was only one person he knew that ever used that term when speaking of kids. Especially is own. "F....father...?" The boy asked, sound a little shocked, and with wide eyes.

Rogue held on to Serge's hand even as he moved in front of her, she looked up at the man over his shoulder with the same dislike as before.
This was all for him to learn a lesson? It all could've gone horribly wrong, what if the lesson wasn't learned? And they still didn't understand what was going on... but that wasn't the important point.

The shadows seemed to fade away, to reveal a man with crimson red hair, a fox tail swinging behind him and some odd topless kind of hat on, hiding his ears.
He smiled at the both, crystal blue eyes shining. "That conviction you had just now kit." He said as he looked Serge in the eyes. "It's what makes the difference, between someone who protects, and someone who simply bullies...I had to be sure."
"I...I don't understand...why...why would you?" Serge couldn't seem to piece together what he wanted to say, but he forced it. "Me...I understand you bringing me here...but why Rogue?" He questioned after a moment.
The man stood quiet for a moment, before taking a deep breath and answering. "It wasn't in my plans at first...I had planned to introduce a false character into this dream world, but then she came...and stayed...the moment to act would have slipped by with her still there, and I could not very well take only you into the dream with her there..."
Looking to Rogue, he sighed. "It would have caused her to panic I'd imagine...and...using her, someone who was real...solved the one other problem...if I had used a created life, one that couldn't exist outside this place...and you had become attached...as you obviously have..." His words trailed off there, he hoped they understood the mental damage such a thing could cause.

Looking from Serge to the new man that had been revealed as Serges' father, her lips curved into a small frown and she moved to stand beside Serge instead of behind him.
"But even so, it all would've been all your fault if he had 'become attached' to a figment of yer imagination. Why couldn't ya just read him a story like all other parents." Now that wasn't really true, her parent had never done anything by reading it to her, but that was besides the point.

"I had to be sure..." Was all the answer the man gave as he pushed his sun-glasses up a bit. "Serge, I see now that I was worried over nothing." He continued as he turned back to Serge. "But still, I had to know that you would only use it to protect if I gave it to you."
That said, the man waved his hand and everything became a blur of white, he was taking them back to reality now.
Serge woke up, laying on the beach on which he and Rogue had met. Looking beside him, he found the girl right there, and from the looks of it, they hadn't been there as long as it had seemed.
For the sun was only just setting. His father was right behind the two of them, he could feel as much, with a sigh, he waited, he wanted to hear a good, full explanation as much as he was sure Rogue did.

Rogue opened her eyes and looked around before sitting up, they were back to the beach.
Turning to Serge, her lips curved up into a smile. "Ya still owe meh that piggy back ride. Ah just went through lots of mental stress an' stuff, Ah've earned it, Come on." She giggled as she shook Serges' arm slightly, fully aware that the man behind them, but paying him no attention.
