Well, I play all three. But since oboe is my main instrument, I'll have to say woodwinds. 3nodding
I've played these instruments for either a class, or a concert of some type: oboe, clarinet, bass drum, baritone, euphonium, and trombonium. (Well, I play piano for a class at my school too but that doesn't really fit into this topic..)

all the peices together are what make band so much fun and make band, well, band.
percussion rocks!!!! ((((but only during marching season...it's more fun then....cadences ROCK))))
i could never play a brass...spit valves are gross
woodwinds, are, geenerally the melody...except the double reeds....ugh.

but as they contribute to he band as a WHOLE, i stand by my original standing: they're all a part to the whole and sound great together.

You have a point there. I think that a Percussionist isn't all drums and stuff. I personally favor the Vibe and Marimba.
