Phew
Gaius was here, along with a familiar penguin from the 'fright fest' the other night. Oz ambled over to the little gathering, looking well rested and fresh faced. Must be the release of all those hormones.
"Afternoon guys," he greeted. "So whats on the cards today?"

Newt ribbited at hte sight of Marshall, shifting anxiously befor he puffed out his throat and straightened up slightly, trying to stand a bit to free up his hands, although his legs remained bent and ready to spring, "Ah... I c-c-could do that! If... if m-m-maybe... Mr. M-m-muh-marshall w-would like to help?" He moved to roll up the sleeves of his larger jumper that the penguin had helped him get.

"Oz, my wonderful and muscled friend!" Gaius said in a tone that definitely implied he was wanting something. Leaving the others to their work, he went to the big guy, putting a hand on his shoulder even as he turned towards the pit Marshall had been digging. "You're just the man I was looking for! You see, I need your help finishing up the under-stage area first! We've already begun," he waved towards the pit Marshall had been working on, a good chunk of a corner dug out with the penguin's hours of labor, "but it's going to take a couple days to finish up. It needs to be a good three feet deep, and fills in the area marked off by the stakes I've put down, see?" It was true, there were several wooden posts all planted into the ground, marking off a portion nearest to the tree line.
"If you're willing to help me, I bet together we can get a good deal dug out. Come on!" Taking a quick detour, Gaius picked up a couple shovels, glad he'd gotten extras from the supply area in the village, and tossed one to the big guy.

Oz just smirked at Gaius' display of not hiding his intentions. He knew that tone of voice well enough, but considering he'd expected to be put to hard labour, he was quite surprised Gaius should feel the need to hint so politely. A 'get to work' command would have been just as clear for the ex-rugby star.
"Digging isn't a problem for me," he replied, almost suspiciously cheerfully and caught the shovel.
He then followed Gaius to the corner where Marshall had started and just got straight to work.

Gaius didn't catch the odd tone to Oz's comment, just taking it as a positive attitude towards the project. Taking a bite from the partially-eaten apple still in his hand, the horse-man stuffed it in his pants pocket and unshouldered his shovel. Muscles strengthened by labor, exercise, and changes went to work as the two men began the heavy duty of digging out the foundation.

Oz was glad to see that Gaius hadn't changed again since they had last met. And maybe Gaius was glad of the reverse too, since the poor sod had been called in to help a bleeding Oz to the medical centre at his change. He was almost tempted to ask the horseman when the next change would happen...he was well aware of the approaching holiday and certainly didn't want a tail or a set of wings or claws for Christmas.
"So how have things been treating you Gaius?" he asked in idle chit-chat, the combination of hard work and unfamiliar climate already making him sweat a little.

"Newt, I told you. Its just Marshall. Don't call me Mr. Marshall, okay?" the penguin man said as he led his twitchy freind over to the logsv that would eventually becoming the benches. "See you finally got your new Jump Suits. Better than jumping around in your swim suit, neh?" Marshall asked with a small smile on his face, picking up his shovel. He looked around for a while, before finding a second one for Newt. "Here ya go, my froggy freind." He said, handing it to Newt as he rolled up his white sleeves.

"Er... th-thank you," Newt beamed, happy to be a part of the project. With the shovel leaning over a shoulder, he hopped towards the area in question, pausing to wait for Marshall to follow, "Th-this.. th-this is certainly impressive, isn't it?"

"Heh heh...Yeah, Gaius can do just 'bout any thing." Marshall said with a smile, his hero-worship showing again. "I'm not sure how he even started this project, but he sure got a bunch of people workin' on it, eh?" Marshall said, picking up a shovel-full of dirt.
"How deep do they need to be?" Marshall asked, rubbing his chin.

The pile of cut wood continued to grow. As the pile grew, Lucas tried to remember if Gaius wanted the entire pile done, or a certain number. As he became unsure, his productivity started to fall. Looking around, he saw Gaius busy and conversing with a large man, who appeared to be...grey? Figuring it would probably come back to him, he decided to take a short break. Finishing the piece he was on the dhole found a shaded area near where he was working and sat down.

It had been a while since he had his fight with Barbra, actually not a fight more like a hail of insults and nasty words followed by three rather uncomfortable slaps to the leg from a cane. Just the thought of the whole ordeal caused him to cringe and grumble under his breath, crazy old bat would get whats coming to her one way or another.
And with a head full of nasty thoughts, Miller set out again from his duplex, today a new noise would catch his attention, it sounded like something being hammered? Were the labs doing construction? He shrugged and continued to follow the noise getting closer to the stage's construction site.

Gaius wiped his brow, the work with Oz having slowed his small-talk considerably. But, on the plus, they'd made a big dent in the stage layout, getting well over half dug out. A considerable feat with the dimensions it was set at.
Waving to Oz, Gaius signaled he was going to take a short break, and set his shovel aside, near the partially-full wheelbarrow they'd been using to haul away the dirt. Noticing the pile of sawed lumber, Gaius looked around, just spotting Lucas under a tree. They still needed a good deal more done, but the guy'd done a good job for today. Flashing him a grin and a thumbs up, Gaius figured if the guy was up for it, he could help one of the others, or come back another day. This one was drawing on late anyways...
His grimy hands left a streak over his nose as he scratched at the broad surface, feeling very salty and greasy. As he was making his way over to the side of the site for a rest, Gaius caught sight of the bird-ish boy he'd met in the jungle and waved towards him. "Hullo there! What brings you to our neck of the woods?"

Miller turned to see Gaius comeing from the other side of the construction site and gave him a short wave. He hadn't a clue what was going on though, one theory was the labs were using the islanders of manual labor. "Wuz dah noiez datz broughtz meh ovah." He shrugged, "Wuzint payinz 'tenntionz in zeh pazt nevah notized it."

"Well, a little noise is to be expected. It means people are being productive!" Gaius grinned down at the guy. His chest puffed up proudly as he continued, "This is our construction site I'm managing! Considering how long we've been working, it's really making great progress!" His grin turned sly as he scanned the area and looked back at Miller. "...Bet you can't guess what we're building?"
