She eyed him. "Did you want to go and see if we could find Yue?" she hid her grin in her mane. "I'm sure we could make that our first adventure of the day." She gave him an amused look. The stallion liked kids far too much, from what she'd seen of him thus far. Possibly because he was just a big kid himself. "She should be with Quisty today, but I think..." she broke off for a moment, trying to think. Was it Duo's day? He'd been teaching the filly to fly... or trying to.

"Am I that easy to read?" Safi's tone was appalled, but his eyes were laughing and he gave Selene an affectionate nuzzle at her suggestion. "Smart girl; obviously you got that from spending so much time with me! But yes, I'd love to see if we could track down Yue. I have to see how the little spitfire is doing, after all!"
Selene's random ponderance about who the foal was with today passed without much notice; it wasn't like Safi knew who any of Selene's herdmates were anyway. But Yue, now... "So, you toss her between babysitters to keep peace of mind all round, huh? Smart." One look at him would tell her he was teasing, though; he knew from last time Yue was sassy, but basically a good kid. "Do you know where they might be?"

She grinned, but didn't reply to his playful babysitter barb. "I know the general area." she said, and danced off, humming. It didn't take long, really... they both used the same clearing for Yue, due to the fact that she tripped so much. Her legs were so much bigger than the rest of her... even with her wings.
She heard it before she saw them. Duo's voice, that oddly stern tone he used when he was being anything but serious (while pretending he was serious), teasing Yue. "Come on, leggy! Flap! flap!"
And a pitiful whine. "I hate you."

Following after Selene with a chuckle, Safi heard the commentary from the clearing at roughly the same time she did; only in his case, it caused him to burst out laughing. And why wouldn't it, given that the first voice had uttered a statement obnoxious enough to do HIM justice. "Let me guess, Selly; today's babysitter is definitely not Quistis, erm?" Not that he'd met the unicorn for very long, but that didn't sound like the voice he remembered.
But then, Safi had never worried about details, not on any level. Like, oh...don't interrupt practices? "YUUUUUUUUEEEE!!!!"

Yue was bouncing around the clearing, doing straight-legged hops into the air, wings flapping wildly. She lifted herself into the air, 6 inches... stayed. A foot... stayed. Went to rise higher, and... "YUUUUUUUUEEEE!!!!"
Duo jumped.
Yue jumped.
Duo stayed.
Yue fell with the gracefulness of 100 pounds of rock in a paper bag. "AIEEEE!" she wailed. Duo gave a gleeful snort, and dropped down next to her, nosing at her.
The moon mare stepped into the clearing, giving both males an icy look. "Are you alright, Yue?"
"I'm fine, Selene." the filly grumbled. One eye glared at the wind stallions balefully.
One grinned unrepentantly and danced over to Selene and Safi. "Heya!"

Perhaps it would have been better to stay silent. Well, how was Safi supposed to know that Yue was in mid-air when he tried to get her attention???
Still, he had the distinct impression that now would not be a good time to laugh, or even smile. Stance rigid, Safi schooled his features into a blank mask as he watched Selene dash off to check out the status of the fallen foal. "Er...my bad. Sorry, Yue!" Giving the foal a sheepish smile, Safi the turned to acknowledge the greeting of the other stallion. "Heya yourself; sorry to interrupt your training, friend. We just wanted to see the kiddo."

The auburn-maned stallion gave a single-shouldered shrug. "No problem. She's..." he eyed the filly, and tilted his head towards her, speaking loudly. "She's utterly hopeless. No talent there, those wings are just decoration. But we keep putting ourselves out to help her-" he gave a squeak and ducked around to Safi's other side as two bristling females glared at him. "She keeps trying to beat up the teacher." he said, almost mournfully. "She seems to think I get my weightless grace through luck." He almost, almost looked offended at the thought. "You should see her hopping around." he confided, loudly. "All stiff-legged, and with spindly legs, like she's hopping on sticks."
Yue Shuangsnorted. "Duo Maxwell, do you ever be silent?" she grumbled, and moved away from her mother, eyeing Safi with the imperious eye she had posessed the last time they had met. "He's obnoxious." she informed Safi. "Ignore him if you get the chance. How have you been, stallion?" she sniffed, staring up her nose at him.
Haughty little bugger, Duo reflected, violet eyes watching the colorful filly. But damn if she wasn't cute. He shifted, took a large chomp of grass, and looked cheerful. Cheerful was good.

"Whoa, don't put me between you and them when they're out to get you; I KNOW them, and I also know what they'll do to me to get to you, should they set their minds to it!" Still, Safi was grinning from ear to ear at the two females even as he was arguing with Duo. He knew Selene would never SERIOUSLY hurt him; besides that, he could fly right now and she couldn't. And neither could Yue right now, for that matter...
But he managed to tamp down that amusement as he was rather imperiously eyed up by the foal. "I'll keep that in mind, Foal. And I've been well, assorted of being horribly tormented by your mother. How about you, Brat?" His tone was affectionate, even if the words were rather snarky; but he'd learned last time that firm was the best way to deal with this foal. "Aside of tormenting your teacher, of course. You must get it from your mum, eh?"

"Oh, I know what they'll do to you." Duo responded cheerfully. "And it'll take just long enough that I can get away from them." his voice dropped. "And I betcha Yue would come after me as fast as she could bunny-hop too." the tones were thick with amusement. But he pranced away from Safi, head held high. "Want a flower, then, 'leney? I betcha I can find one almost as pretty as me."
She ducked her head, butting at him lightly. "That won't be too hard. There's a buch of thistle right over there." He laughed, and they chattered quietly for a bit. Duo wasn't so bad, when he was distracted by fresh meat. And that, Safi certainly was. The blue mare brushed off a shudder of laughter.
Yue glanced at Duo, then dismissed him as being an annoyance. And a failure too. "He's attempting to teach me to fly, I think. I can't tell, he keeps flirting with my mother." which was obviously apalling to her, as she shuddered delicately. "My mother. Does the man have no eyes?" She could empathize with Safi, understanding what torture her mother could do. "Does she nag you too? About bathing, and playing nice with the familiars, and not talking to strangers? Isn't it simply annoying?"

"You're all heart, do you know that?" Safi's voice as he replied to Duo's comment was all but dripping with sarcasm, but he continued to grin. If he truly worried about getting hurt, he would have gotten out of range a long time ago.
As Duo wandered off to talk to Selene, Safi was able to focus all of his attention on the foal, his expression changing from sympathy to amusement depending on what the foal was saying. Ah, for the innocence of youth...or cynicism, in that case.
Leaning over close to Yue, Safi quickly glanced at the other two, then whispered solemnly to the foal. "You think that's crazy? Your herdmate Feryal thought that your mother and I were MATES." Nodding his head solemnly to back up that statement, he quickly raised his head again to shake it in response to her later remarks. "She sorta nags me, but not about bathing. Apparently she thinks I'm shiney clean enough as I am!"

Yue looked.... constipated? She was making this very, very odd expression. "Ohhhh, ewwwwwwww!" she finally wailed, tiny body shaking. "That's my mom you're talking about!" She took a second to compose herself, trying not to froth at the mouth with the virulence of her disgust. "Who would want to be mates with my mom? I mean, she already has kids. What stallion would want a pre-made family?" she truly did look horrified.

Ah, he loved kids, he really did. Some in particular. "You might be surprised, Brat; hell, I'd be the type to take instant kids any day and would probably abscond with you if your mother wouldn't have my hide for it."
Still, even though he was serious Safi couldnt' help but dissolve into laughter. Yue looked pained...very, very pained. In a funny sort of fashion. "Besides, what would be so bad about having an extra parent? Unless they were the rule enforcing kind of parent, in which case I could understand that disgust."
Yue comment had him looking curiously over at Duo and Selene, however. So that stallion was interested in Selene, huh? Well, given what a beautiful mare she was it was hardly surprising that she would have admirers, regardless how appalled that made her daughter!

Yue eyed him. "You use a lot of funny words, mister. Abskahnd?" she tried the word slowly. "And who needs another parent? I have my aunts and uncles, and they're bad enough." she followed his gaze. "Oh, wow, she's actually talking to him. Usually the sight of Uncle Duo has momma trying to hide. He talks a lot, and drives momma and Uncle Hanzee inane. At least, that's what Auntie Tehya says."
She looked pensive. "If you want a premade kid, why don't you take Uncle Duo? No one here wants him." it was said airily.
Duo blinked at her as the last comment drifted to his ears. Selene grinned. "Now, Yue, what would we do if we didn't have Uncle Duo to ignore?" The stallion nipped at the mare, and she laughed gleefully.
"So cruel to me, 'leney."
((I did mis-spell insane on purpose, btw. wink ))

"Drives him inane, huh? That must be tough on Uncle Hanzee and everyone else besides." Deapanning once again, Safi looked over at Selene and Duo with a wink as he ruffled Yue's mane. "What makes you think Duo wouldn't drive ME inane if I were to take him, hmm? Besides that, the point of having an pre-made kid is the 'kid' part; Duo there looks like he'd be scrounging for his own pre-made kids, not becoming one!"
And who wanted competition in the realm of hunting for pre-made kids? "I think if I was going to do that, though, I'd just run off with you right now. Your mother can't fly, so I think that I'd be able to get away with it...what do you say, Brat? Would you like to run away and be adopted by me?"

She looked him up and down. "Duo can fly." she pointed out. "And you'd have to carry me. And really, I think you might be inane anyways. Who wants a kid, premade or not?"
The haughty demeanor faded eventually around Safi, the fluttercorn noted, oddly pleased. He had a good hand with her. Or maybe it was that he was easy on the eyes. She eyed Duo. "Why can't you be dashing?" she grumbled.
He looked affronted, then confused. "Are you gone all inane again, leney?" he asked, teasing. "I am dashing. Or did you hit your head?" She nipped at him, displeased with his response. "Why do you always resort to violence, you brutish mare?" he protested. "Yue, Yue, come protect me from your mother!"
Yue glanced at them, then catapaulted herself at Safi. "Take me away! I can't take it anymore! They are all inane!"
"And you are a little drama queen." Selene grumbled. "Safi, you can't take her anywhere until she can fly on her own. I'll not have her weighing you down, and I'll not risk her falling off while you cavort across who knows where."
