like i said i am rather busy but since the storm and holiday i got some free time so i can talk now. alright problems with the movie.
1. the razoc in the book are orginally a creature more like an insect they have there larval stage which resemblems mans shape but grossly they are supposed to wear a robe, and after 20 years, i think, they leave their larval shage to become like bird dragons (i don't relly remember the exact description). in the movie they become a mgical someones that once killed turn to dust, also there are only supposed to be two larvas but in the movie i saw 3+.
2. the sword, the sword has several problems with it descreption wise in the movie its poorly died red and the jewel on the hilt is supposed to be a ruby not a sapphire. sadly i can't think of anything else but i know theres at least two more things that are faulty about it.
3. when the elf is held capative there are several problems. one she does not know (nor does anyone) when saphira joins with eragon. two droza (the shade) does not control here dreams nor does he know of them. three the poison he uses is not his poison they treat it as if its a magical created poison by droza while in acctuality its a rare poison thats only cure is a special extract from a mushroom found on the fecal pile in the varden also it mentions that its also found in the elven home, not cured by magic as they are insenuating. also she was tortured wich is the reasonshe was able to reach him in the first place.
4. broms death: when he was dieing and this was a big annoyance to me. the elf which is an extremely powerful magic user does absolutely nothing not even telling eragon the proper words too heal brom a dear friend of the royal family. also he does not get stabbed my a floating spear but instead gets a knife wound from one of the razoc as he lunges in front of eragon to protect him. another he was buried by eragon on top of the cave by turning the sandstone to liguid or making it flow like liquid. he places brom inside and then seals it up leaving a message that i believe say brom friend teacher and dragon rider or something like that then sapphira turns it into jewel i thought it was like a emerald or sapphire but i can't say for certian.
5. the mark on his hand was supposed to be more oval and centered, also its solid not the spiral dragon crap they put there.
6. a big one is the end he is supposed to go with the elf to her home, not go back to the varden. that is such a big error it made me nearly cry about 2/3rds the second book revolves around him doing this not to is just a blatant disregard for this book.
i will add more later

Only a small remark:
You can say your opinion here as long as you stay polite, respectful and reasonable.
This remark isn't personal (it means I don't write it against sb.) and it shouldn't be understood like that. But as the atmosphere went a bit dense here, I'm writing this to remind everybody of this condition. wink

D_Metria When I saw that movie I wanted to kill the producers. It sucked so bad. It doesn't hurt to skim through the thread before posting. Watch the content, I've already had to remind a few people, you will be a few plus one. You want to kill them, fine, make a website and do it there, intelligent conversation only.

Some people say that the Inheritance series is a knockoff of a combination of Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings. Personally I loved both of the books, but Eldest was much better. The beginning of Eragon made me want to skip a few chapters.
As for the movie...it's BASED on the book, it's not a direct adaptation. The producers had every right to change whatever they wanted. I'll admit I was highly disappointed and not a little disgruntled at the liberties they took, but I still really liked the movie. Yes they f***** up a lot, but that's their right.
The special effects were pretty good...and anyone who saw the movie has to admit that Saphira's transformation from an adorable hatchling to a full-sized a**-whupping dragon was pretty cool.
As for whomever it was who said they like challenging books...try reading the Dresden Files or the Codex Alera, both by Jim Butcher. They aren't difficult, but they make you think up possibilities. If you can't find something suitably "difficult" for your tastes, switch to mysteries.
Since when is The Lord of the Rings a teen series? J.R.R. was a literary master who worked for years to develop his story. He invented two(maybe three) different languages to support the story, Quenya and Sindarin, the two elven languages. He based the written Dwarven language off of Norse runes. He also wrote a complete history of the elves (the Silmarillion) which while quite dry was informational and interesting nonetheless. Not to mention several other books from the Rings universe if i'm not mistaken, the Books of Lost Tales, and a few others books I believe.
Sorry about that mini-rant...I was a hard-core fan. Did you know that writing in Sindarin Script is really hard? lol Tolkien is the reason I learned the Norse runic alphabet, and can write in it.

Azrael Fourth i am going to have to disagree on it being there right. the movie is set up as a representation of paloni's work there fore it should stay true to that fact the producers and directors did nothing in the development of the book so they most definently should have no right to change it after the fact to suit there money grubbing motives. its more of an artistic integrity issue.
i for one was appalled by sapphira's magical growth i felt they could have at least done a small time skip. i understand that graphically it was nice as the girl that weaseled me into going was impressed but i am afraid that the movie as whole was rather unimpressive graphically. they only had two or three decent graphic moments.
also i have to say i agree on jim butchers codex alera being a good series and am anxiously awaiting the fourth book. though sadly i have as of yet read any of his other works.

the Demon desert please stop talking to me for a while your really getting on my nerves and i will put you on my ignore list if this keeps up. Then add me to your ignore list, see if it makes a difference, I'm one of the moderators trying to uphold the guild rules, you and others are disregarding those rules, get used to me being here.As for the graphics, I more or less did a double-take when Saphira disappeared into the clouds as a boy sized dragon and then there's a flash of light and poof, fully grown dragon lands. The dragon itself is beautifully textured, though the eyes make her appear too human. The scene though leaves much to be desired but on the topic of big movie budgets, you can't expect hollywood to shell out millions just so Eragon can play fetch and feed until Saphira's old enough to really do some damage. As for creative, ethical licensing. I think if a movie based on a book is going to be made without much regard for the book it comes from the publishers should at least make the effort to tell the general audience. Not to mention the director, if he/she has little intention of following the canon, then go a step further and make something more original, an OVA if you will, anime directors do this all the time. I don't think it would work for all books, but some are more well loved than others and I think it might have made for a better movie if they had gone down a different path with the Eragon. the Demon

Well, I still haven't seen the movie because of the negative reviews.
And yes, everybody should follow the rules and try to be polite. Thank you.
