Vapours filled the air, and wafted out from the ground. Winter's cloak and shattered masks laid on the ground, the ichor all turning into gas.

"Auughh..." <********... me... this hurts! Vahn groaned out, as he struggled to twist and lay on his stomach, instead of his back, as the blood simply refused to stop coming from the wound in his side, peirced by the ichor sickle.

As it was, his body was getting number and number, and he was likely to freeze himself to death. Whatever body, Winter's held, was rendered into nothing, thanks to Sun's quick thinking and Vahn's initial strike...

It left a real bad smell behind as well, causing Vahn to hack and wheeze for fresh air, as he was tkaing the brunt of this miasma.

Sunstrike hacked at the smell....

sulfur....and something else....

Then, blood streaming from his back and hand he stumbled over to Vahn and gently wrapped his hands underneath the mans arms, pulling him out into the open and away from the noixious fumes.

"Aren't we the popular bunch these days..." Was the wry comment once he'd gotten Vahn out of the way, a bit closer to their discarded packs, before he had to let go or fall over. He was still wheezing as he went and grabbed one and a water bottle, dropping the weapon on the heap.

He collapsed to his knees next to his friend, pushing him over so he could take a look at the wound on his side, before fumbling around in the pack for a medical pad and some bandages. Cold water splashed over the wound, cleaning it.

"Said I'd have to bandage someone up...." He grinned softly.

"Ggauugh!" The cry tore itself free from his throat, as Sunstrike moved him, not feeling comfortamble in the slightest, and that numbing, pain never going away as it panged his wound. He idly wondered if some type of poison had gotten in, but then again the ichor was poison enough on it's own.

Yellowed eyes wavered, as he struggled to keep his eyes open, barely even to give out so much as a retort towards Sunstrike, as another low guttural cry tore out, ending with Vahn's fist clentching the sand underneath him tightly, the pain driving nails through his mind.

Hurts... why... why does it hurt so damn.. much! The ichor had peirced Vahn's flesh, and gotten into his blood. His 'blood of fire'.

The moment the water splashed onto the wound, it instantly turned to steam, the wound sizzling, as Vahn's thick blood seeped out.

Sunstrike clicked his teeth, looking narrowly at the wound that wouldn't get clean. The edges were a purple colour that grew darker as he watched. Then he tsked slightly, this was gonna be nasty...

"Deep breath Vahn...this is gonna hurt like a b***h..." Sunstrike ripped a bit of cloth off, wiped the blood off the wound as quickly as he could, and leaned down...his mouth closed over the cut...and he sucked...hard.

At first there was nothing but the strange blood, leaning up he spat out a mouthful and repeated the process, until there was a thump of something solid hitting the inside of his mouth that was nasty. He choked, gagged and spat out a piece of black that sizzled in the sand and dissappeared in a quick flash like the rest of Winter had...

He'd been right...that was gross as hell...

"I'm never gonna get that taste out of my mouth now..." He hacked and spat again, disturbed to the core.

His entire body seemed to relax, with the grisly action done, even if his skin paled slightly. His fists relaxing, he immediately began trying to first sit up, and then get to his feet, the odd coldness gone from within his body.

"That b*****d..." He hissed out, as he pressed a hand against the wound in his side, sweat lining his brow. Why? Who could have sent him? Why did he want Sunstrike?

So many questions... and they were as further in the dark about everything as before.

Sunstrike coughed again...agreeing and taking a long swig of water, before wordlessly handing it to his companion.

When Vahn'd taken the bottle he pulled out the bandages and began wrapping the wound. Just cause Vahn'd said he didn't get sick easily didn't mean he couldn't get sick at all.

It wasn't til he was almost done that he realized how much his hands were shaking...

He just watched them for a minuete in surprise, biting his lip softly til they went still, and finished the job. His whole being had been rocked by the appearence of this enemy...and he really had to wonder if this was the last of them.

"I have to get my sword..."

Vahn allowed Sunstrike to adminster to his wound, his eyes staring towards the horizon, as he looked out at the expanse of sand blasted rock and rough hewn edges that was the mesa. And beyond that, a sea of sand... the Barthavos desert in it's whole.

"This is getting more and more serious..." It was an odd statement, as if a place that was ont he brink of another civil war wasn't serious enough for him. But then again, he'd led whole armies into battle as a "fourteen year old boy".

"Sword...right." Sunstrike got up...strange...why was it so dark if it was...

He was on his way to the ground before he could finish the mental thought. Dust scattered as he landed, and the fear that had been surpressed exploded full force in his mind in a total panic attack.

Darkness.....why had everything become so dark...?

This hallway shouldn't have been this long, should have ended hours ago...

~We are the......we have been....we....

Half whispers made him turn this way and that. His mad red eyes searching for anything within the darkness...then his ears picked up a noise that was horrifying.

Swish...swish...swish....something was pulling it's way along towards him. Something large, and darker even then the hallway. The voices grew...

~We are the formless...the lost....we are the guardians....you...you are one that has what we have not...come closer....do not fear....we want to be like you...to be you....

He found himself reaching out...reaching, and then it swam into the light, a mask, bleeding darkness from the eyeholes but otherwise blank, it was joined by another, and another...something cold wrapped around him...

Sunstrike screamed

Blackness swam through his orange eyes, and he curled in on himself...

Sunstrike

"Sun...?" The word came out hesitantly, almost as if he was afraid of uttering it any longer, or allowing it to mean anything else. Jumping to conclusions was always wrong. However, this wasn't the time for idealic romps through metaphors.

"Sun!?" The fighter took several steps towards the red-head, his right hand pressed against his wounded side, and yellowed eyes glimmered with growing fear. A fear of loss. "Hey, wake up!"
PostPosted: Fri Jul 29, 2005 7:25 pm

There was a choking sob from the curled up form, and red spread over the arms. Sunstrike was crying blood...

In general he had no tear ducts in this form, his strange eyes not needing liquid of any kind to function...it had been part of the punishment for him...

But now the pain was too great, so his body, his mind, compensated as best it could and grabbed the nearest liquid that it could to function as some kind of release for the fear coursing through him.

Sun...?

His friends voice sounded so far away...it hurt to breath...it hurt to move...Sunstrike could handle most physical pain, it was the mental anguish that drove him senseless.

if you are near to the dark
I will tell you 'bout the sun
you are here, no escape
from my visions of the world
you will cry all alone
but it does not mean a thing to me

His feet were already carrying him forward despite his wound. "Sunstrike!" He came sliding down along the ground, already by his companion's side. Yellowed eyes wavered, as both hands went to the red-head shoulders, shaking him a bit.

knowing the song I will sing
till the darkness comes to sleep
come to me, I will tell
'bout the secret of the sun
it's in you, not in me
but it does not mean a thing to you

"Are you hurt?!" He lifted Sun's head up, staring down at him, not sure what the hell he was supposed to do here. Dirtied figners, wiping away at the crimson tears that fell from his eyes, holding him in his warm embrace. An ever warming embrace, as the ember grew and grew.

the sun is in your eyes
the sun is in your ears
I hope you see the sun
someday in the darkness

"...Sunstrike..." He didn't understand. He couldn't possibly understand. He was doing a lot of that lately, and he wa ssick of it. Yellowed eyes narrowed tightly, to hold back whatever foolish tears would decide to show themselves. Why is this happening to us... why are you always getting hurt... and why can't I.. "Dammit... you idiot."

the sun is in your eyes
the sun is in your ears
but you can't see the sun
ever in the darkness
it does not much matter to me

He had all the grace of a lifeless doll when Vahn picked him up, eyes shadowed and unseeing, arms limp.

~This isn''t how this ended before...

It was a strange thought...to mix in with the agony. A spark went through his eyes as someone on the outside brushed the wetness from his face.

~Wh-where am I? This wasn''t...this has already happend...

He stared at the mask in his mind, and it was as if a mirror cracked through the memory...distorting it, making it less real, less cold....

In fact...

"...Sunstrike..."

I''m not even....

"Damnit... you idiot."

Supposed to be here.

His eyes closed for just a moment, before opening again to sunshine and sand. He was a bit muzzy for a second, the warmth was cozy, intoxicating...where? Someone was holding him tightly, talking to himself. Hesitantly, Sunstrike moved to hug back that person...trying to remember what he''d been...

...

oh....

"Oh dear..." He swallowed, unsure really of what to do now. "I...I''m sorry, Vahn, that was..." What? A black out, a memory, a twisted waking nightmare? "Thank you..."

Sunstrike

"Idiot..."

The word came out half heartedly, nearly lost in itself, as the fighter continued staring long and hard at whatever it was he was staring at. His arms stilll holding the red-head in embrace, he kept his chin on the younger man's shoulder, eyes staring out.

Why... am I crying... The tears wouldn't stop coming, as he realized that maybe this time he could have lost him... that maybe next time he would.. or the next... Tears are for girls dammit...

"Next time let me know if you want to sleep."
PostPosted: Fri Jul 29, 2005 9:14 pm

"Only if next time I come to your rescue....you tell me your body has a transferrable spell in it that some evil dude wants..." The smell of blood made his nose itch and he shifted in the grip, sprawling lazily in the sunshine over Vahn. The tears fell warmly on his shoulder, making him hug a bit tighter.

"Cause, I mean, I'd still rescue you, s'just nice to know before hand...gives me good running time n'all..." He grinned sleepily, leaning back to look at the other fighter in the eye. The orange swirled through dark rimmed eyes. "Stop blaming yourself...you're getting as bad as me, and hell Vahn, that's bad." He reached forward and nearly mirrored what Vahn had done before, wiping ordinary tears from the dusty face. "Your side must REALLY hurt now...I'm sorry to make you worry."

He looked a little embarassed as he started to scramble up, realizing he may have gone a bit far. "It was all the cold...does funny things to my head..."

Listen to you... He remained silent through it all, those hollowed out eyes staring forward blankly, head tilting down to meet the red-head's gaze. The tears rolled down his cheeks, only to be wiped away. ...Dammit.

If it were possible at all, it were now. Completely. The firm resolve, and pure feelings that bled through, didn't allow Sun to leave Vahn that easily, as he held onto him. I want... want to.. If anything, he leaned his head in, his nose only centimeters from brushing against Sunstrike's.

"Shhhh...We need to be careful..."

And it was all he could do to close the distance between them both, leaning in even closer, clear tears mixing with crimson.
