A lookout descended from the crows nest and ran to Isaac, "Sir, there is a ship closing in on us, should we flee or attack?" The man appeared to be scared, so it was almost certain that the ship that was spotted must be a galleon as well.

"Damn it all, this is really not going well..." Isaac said softly to himself before drawing his blade and yelling out to his crew, "All hands on deck! We have a ship closing in on us, prepare to attack those unlucky bastards!" Isaac then smiled, it was a while since he had the chance to turn the ocean red with the blood of humans and he really did enjoy killing people.

Amie bounds back onto the deck of the Cuore, shuffling her shiny new dubloons around in her hands. "Ohh, look at all the shiny coins!" she exclaims to no one in particular. "One, two... Uh..... Three. I forget what comes next. Oh yeah! Four! Five, and Six?"

The Angel looked down upon the won battle with a soft smile. It was nice to be victorios. Perhaps they would get to shore quickly so he could buy a few needed things and save the rest. Mana flew back into the rigging with his coinage. He landed near the doors and went down to put it in his cabin. Then he returned to the ropes, having stolen some from the Dementia, and started repairs.

"Oy William, come on. Lets get this repaired now that we have the stuff for it."

Will, sitting on a barrel, looked up from his skinning of the rat when he heard Amie's attempts at counting. He grinned encouragingly at her, feeling oddly privileged for having been taught how to count, read and write from a young age. Scrap mewed from around ankle level, and with a soft "all right, all right" he returned to his work. Soon the rat was divested of its skin, and the weasel pirate dangled it by its tail in front of the little cat. Scrap, well trained, took it in his jaws and trotted off happily. With another grin, Will folded the skin and tucked it into his pouch for later use - he wasn't fussy about blood of any sort. It all tasted good. If they got enough rats from this little infestation, he might have enough good ratskin to make himself a pair of mittens.

Mana's call came just at the right time: Will had been about to go and search for something to do. Hopping neatly off the barrel, he hurried over to the rigging and climbed up beside his cabin-mate. "A'right," he said, businesslike. "What's the haul like? We got enough rope to replace th' botched ones as well, or is it just fer critical repairs?"

Mana smiled at him, a knowning look in his eyes.

"Why I was moving through their sails I cut some of the ropes and made sure to let it drop where we could get at it. We have enough for critical repairs, but not sure about the rest. May not have a long enough line."

He was already working on one bit of rope that held the sail rigging to the mast. It only required a short rope but it had to be strong and run through twice.

Will nodded, grinning. "A'ight. Ye're a sharp one, Mana me ol' pal - I'm just damn glad ye didn't slice through th'rope I was swingin' on t'get across th'gap!"

Laughing, he took up some of the new rope and set about replacing those that needed it most. Some had been damaged during the battle by stray gunfire, and lower down by cutlass swipes: these he attended to first, leaving the higher ones for Mana. After all, as much as he enjoyed being up in the heights there was no sense in wasting the bird-man's gifts.

Valentine's whoop of triumph was probably aduible even before he peeked back above deck, face blacked in a few places from working with the gunpowder and cannons. "HA! MARVELOUS!" He roared, enthralled with the way the battle had gone. Absoloutely marvelous, though he still wished he could have sank teeth into some of them. What kind of blithering idiot captain would have attacked THEM?

Hearing Valentine's roar of triumph, Will looked down towards the deck with a grin. "Fine shooting, Val me old mate!" he called. "Ye might wan'te wash yer face a bit!"

The almost comic blackening was visible from his vantage point somewhere in the rigging. Besides, even if it hadn't been he could have predicted its existence.

"I reckon there's a bit o' meat hereabouts if ye've time fer a swim!" he added, the beast within enjoying the vaguely sickening image of the gunner devouring human corpses.

Valentine chortled darkly as he stepped out onto deck, grinning from ear to ear. "Need the captains permission for that. " He pointed out, though he was clearly tempted, which would probably make the gruesome display of bodies in the water even more so. "Feel damn nice though." He rubbed at his face absently, probably missing the soot entirely or smearing it even worse, which would make it look more like some kind of peculiar war paint.

Finishing tying in the new rope and testing it carefully, Will nodded his satisfaction and made his way down to the deck. Plenty of cuts to repair in the lower ropes. Valentine had smudged the soot even worse, he noticed with a chuckle as he eventually reached the wooden boards. "I'm not sure it'd make ye any less scubby, messmate, but it couldn't make ye much more," he quipped playfully. "Ask Cap'n when 'e turns up, see what 'e says. Reckon we've all earned a break o'some sort, an' if that's what ye want then I can't see 'im 'avin' a problem with it."

With that, he returned to his work. The more he concentrated on this now, the sooner he could be done and go see about those rats with Scrap. Maybe he'd grab one for Val - he might appreciate that.

Isaac smiled at the outcome of the battle, he looked around to his crew and yelled, "To any who are hungry, you have your pick of murdered human, or the food that the cook will be making!" he coughed and then said under his breath, "which will be about any human you guys don't eat..."

Issac nodded to his crew, "The fog is almost fully gone, so you best be quick about it," he grinned, "we will be moving again soon!" he then walked to his quarters after grabbing what appeared to be a human's right arm.

Hearing the Captain's announcement, Will grinned. "I reckon that's yer cue t'go fer a quick dip, mate," he remarked to Valentine, jerking his thumb at the water. "Scrap-me-boy an' I are goin' after some rats, I reckon - if there's enough I'll keep one by for ye."

Now Scrap wasn't too bright, but he did understand the word "rat". He trotted out from behind some barrels, having already finished the edible parts of the previous little meal, and took up his place at Will's feet with a soft mew. The weasel pirate grinned down at him. "That's me boy - shall we go fer rats? Shall we?" The rope work here was done, and Mana seemed to have the little that was left up top in hand. Next job was to get the rats out of the stores. What little food they had that wasn't fresh meat needed protecting.

Scrap required no prompting to lead the way down to the stores, and Will wasn't far behind him. Rat-hunting was a break from rigging work; good sport and still of use to the ship. Everyone wins.

...Except the rats, of course, Will thought with a chuckle as he vanished into the darkness.

Amie watches the captain gnaw on some mans arm, and puts a hand over her mouth in disgust, "That's gross..." she mutters to herself. As the smell of festering corpses and blood rises around her Amie makes the unwise decision to inhale deeply, drawing the putrid stench deep into her feline enhanced nose. Her eyes widen and the hand that had fallen away mere moments ago shoots back up to her mouth, followed closely behind by the other. Choking down the uprising sensation of nausea Amie rushes to the edge of the ship and almost flings herself over the edge as the vomit erupts from her mouth into the sea below. Or rather the side of the ship. As she leans against the railing gasping for fresh sea air, Amie wipes her mouth of the residual filth. "That was the most revolting thing I have ever experienced..."

Mana watches as the poor sensitive feline deals with the overwelming smell. Maybe it was from living in a poor community where bathing was optional, or maybe from his own practice of voodou where bodies were regularlly handled by the tribe, but he didn't find it revolting in the least. He flew down and put a hand on her sholder.

"We can get things cleaned up quickly. I am use to moving bodies. Are you alright, Amie? I think you've gone from silver to green."

He used his wings to fan some fresh air towards her and just to give her a bit of a breeze against the dead body smell.
